Hi ladies!

My DF and I have booked the Napa room for our reception in December even though we have not seen the room in person- only pictures.:rolleyes1

I have a few questions about the size and layout of the room. I'm starting to get concerned that it's going to be too small for what we have planned. We currently expect to have around 40 guests (assuming DF doesn't continue to invite people!)

Is this too many for the room? I know they say the room seats 50, but we would like to have some space for our first dance as well. We also wanted to have some type of music and entertainment for the reception (we would love to have a piano...) Is that even possible with our guest count and the size of the room?

Help! :confused3

We looked at it and almost used it for a rehearsal dinner, and dropped it because we had too many people. My guess is that it would be pretty tight. I am not sure if you can move the tables around or not but the setup we saw was crowded.

In the past people who have wanted dancing have rented both the Napa Room and the Sonoma room across the hall and had dancing in one and dinner in the other - just a thought.

we are using the napa room in July for our VR... the standard round tables sit 10 per table with four tables. Some brides have used ipod/dj for dancing and one had a harp player. not sure about piano though.:confused3 good luck:goodvibes

Thanks for the advice!

DF would like to have a string trio since it doesn't look like we'll be able to fit the piano. He's a classically trained musician, so he's a little picky when it comes to music! lol

I am not sure this is what you would want, but they can also have a piano that is a keyboard that is played almost like an electric guitar if that makes any sense? If you really want a piano and don't have the space it might work :confused3

We had a Jazz trio and honestly I was so excited about it and it was soooooo important. In the long run I really wish we just had an Ipod. I will get into it more in my TR, but for that room unless you are going to have an actual dance floor I would really just use an Ipod and take the money and spend it on something else fun.

We had 40 people in the Napa room, and it was perfectly fine space-wise. But there's no way you could have a piano in there. Even a string trio might be tight.... One musician - maybe even two would be the max. Also, we didn't do dancing at all. There was no way we could have had dancing wiht all our guests in the space...Now if you were just going to have you and your DH do a first dance... that's a different story, and yes... you would probally have room as long as you weren't doing some big elaborate routine.

I don't have my reception photos loaded into photobucket yet, but I'll see if I can find one that illustrates the space for you...

We also used the Sonoma Room across the hall for our cocktail hour, and had a harpist with 50 people milling about and that was fine.

It's not ideal, but maybe you could have dancing across the hall in the other room with a piano or trio...

Hopefully this makes sense, and if not... just let me know I'll try to explain better :rotfl:

Wow, I actually had a few reception pictures organized already, which I didn't think I had done yet, so I was able to get them into photobucket lickety split. :cutie:

Anyway...

Napa Room:

Here's a blank view of the room with 5 tables in it for 40 people. By adding a few people to each table we could have gone up to 50 no problem. You'll see there's a bit of space near the bar and then there's space in the back. We had a 1/2 circle table here for the cake - but if you had musicians and/or dancing, you might be able to move this table elsewhere to make a little more room

Here it is with people in it to give you an idea of the crowded factor - we didn't think it was tight at all.

Here's a picture of the toast that gives you an idea of the space by the bar that could be used for a dance. The photographer is standing parallel to the furthest out chair at the corner table.

Here's a few pictures of the Sonoma Room to give you an idea of the space there:

You can tell where the bar is based on the mass of people :cutie:

HTH... if you have any other questions or want me to clarify something, please feel free to ask :goodvibes

Thank you! The pics are beautiful!

We're not looking for a dance floor for everyone, just enough space for our first dance. It looks like we'll have around 40 guests confirmed, so I'm definitely feeling better about fitting everyone in the room! :)

We're getting married in the Napa too!

We tried everything to get a piano into the Napa, we were prepared to pay anything but they still said no. The would only offer us a pianist with an electronic keyboard! Not the same.

At one point we got close, they were considering getting a piano up there in the mainanance lift, and wheeling it through the kitchens. But they still said no!

Their loss I guess, we'll have to do without it.

We are having 40 people (4 rounds of 10) and a dance floor. I don't think it's very large, but you can see photos in acwinsett's TR. It's sufficient enough for the important dances (first dance, father/daughter, mother/son) which is what we want it for. We are just having an iPod since the rest of the night it will be background music.

My daughter had her wedding reception in the Napa room last June. We had 35 people and had plenty of room. We absolutely loved everything. The food and service were superb! I may need help getting pics posted but email me if you would like to see them.
