Calling All Moustached Women!

Depends what category you are in. We are in the shave it camp and need laser hair eventually. Buy a man's electric shaver.:thumbsup2

My poor 19yodd needs mega laser lair removal on many parts of her body. We are hoping to start that process beginning this summer. I am going to get lasered as well and be done with it.

Waxing, bleaching and all that do not work because you would have to wax once a week. I waxed for a long time and when I had to do it daily, I realized that it was not the way to go.

So it really depends on genetics.

If it's this bad at 12, I would look into some permanant solutions. I get my lip waxed, and I'm blond, so I don't see how bleaching helps.

Sally Hansen creme hair remover for the face. It's a creme that you let dry and wipe of with a warm damp wash cloth it doesn't hurt at all and removes everything. I couldn't imagine putting hot wax on my face. Ouch!

I agree with this. Especially for someone so young. Then if she gets older and wants to wax - fine.

Bleach. Nothin' like a little chemical burn on your upper lip ladies!

Waxing. Yeah, but first you have to let the fuzz grow out long enough so the wax will be able to adhere to the hairs. Nice to have that bloody upper lip thing going on after the wax is ripped clean off your upper lip!

Threading. As someone else said hurts like bejeebers with the added plus of having to let the hairs get long enough before it can be done.

I have no idea why women are so against shaving. The old wives tales are just that. Shaving is cheap. A gentle soap and you don't end up with a flaming red irritated upper lip. Shaving is easy. All this womanly hocus pokus crap just chaps my butt and all because some beauty *expert* tells us what we're supposed to do and how we're supposed to do it. Bah!

LOL

Agreed. It baffles me that people literally pull the hair out of their faces! When I get some hairs I swipe a razor over them and wah-lah. Smooth face. No biggie. It's cheap, easy, and painless, and NO, it does NOT grow back thicker or fuller or any such nonsense. :)

That really isn't it.

When you shave you have stubble, so you have to shave it daily.

And if you are hairy like we are in my family that is what you have to do until you get lasered, which I am going to finally do this yr.

I think that I will start with the hair cream-type remover and go on from there.

Electrolosis: I had that done on my upper lip years ago. Just the thought of it still makes me cringe. Man, did that hurt! It also grew back (failure of the process or failure of the person doing the job?). Laser would be the only way to go.

Good heavens I don't have stubble everyday. I suppose some people might but I have dark thick hair and certainly don't have stubble everyday. Maybe every 4-5 days.

Do you know what something like that will cost? I know that laser isn't cheap but it is a small area of skin.

Depends on the place. There are laser hair places and now dermatologists do it as well. Usually they force you to buy a "package" which ends up to be from 500 and up. Which is why we have not done it yet.:headache:

Well clearly since you said so.

I wasn't arguing with you, just speaking about my personal experience.

I know you were but I was explaining the thing you said about that it grows back "thicker".

It appears that way because of the stubble.

Another one who shaves here!

I have thick dark hair, but I certainly don't get stubble, it doesn't grow back thicker, and I don't have to shave my upper lip every day, either. I do my lip the same time I do my legs, in the shower, every 2 or 3 days. It just takes a second, no muss, no fuss.

What's really tricky is cleaning up that uni-brow... Shaving works, but you need to have a delicate touch or you'll end up losing half an eyebrow. :lmao: I finally had them waxed and have been plucking the hairs ever since.

DD15 has dark hair. She did waxing for a while but something with the wax really reacted with her skin so she stopped that. She tied Nair, burned the heck out of her lip-took the mole she has on he lip off even (it grew back). She has been bleaching for a couple years and that really helps. It does make a difference and you really don't notice her lip hair at all when she bleaches it. It lasts for several weeks. She wants to try waxing again so we will probably do that this weekend at a salon. I haven't had good luck with the home waxing kits.

Yep, that was my point. It "appears" that way, but it's not true that it grows back thicker. Just an old wives tale. :thumbsup2

It's a shame what women have to go through, and even worse when it is little girls who just don't want to be picked on. :(

How old are you? Just wondering if age factors in here with regard to the stubble factor or if it just genetics. I am 45 and it got worse as I aged.

If anyone has it bad it is my poor 19yodd. She needs to have her lip, arms, stomach, hands and feet done. Literally she is a bear she is so hairy. Poor kid.

OP, I would talk to an esthetician who is experienced with hair removal. Some are good at hair removal, others not so much. You may have to be the guinea pig to try out various estheticians first.

I just went through this with my daughter last week. She is only 10, but is very hairy. We decided to start with that little battery operated eyebrow/facial hair tool you can get at Walmart. She is very scared to try anything else at this point. I told her to start with this and when she is ready we will look into waxing, laser, etc. So far, so good. One thing I wouldn't consider was bleaching. I did this when I was younger and I ended up with an orange-looking mustache! :scared1: Still makes me cringe when I think about that. Good luck!

I'm thirty-nine, but I think you're right about the effects of age and/or hormones. After I had my son, I even started getting coarse hairs growing out of my chin! I blame the boy. ;) Luckily, they're easy to yank out.

I think the difference is that my upper lip hairs are pretty soft. Thick and dark, sure, but still soft. So no stubble.

My chin hairs, on the other hand, feel like cat whiskers. So I guess if you had something like that growing out of your upper lip, you'd probably get stubble!
