I need some help.

We are paying for our own wedding but we still want to exchange gifts with each other.

We have a budget of $50-100 CND so I would say about $75 US.

He knows what he is getting me but I'm at a loss as to what I can buy him. I want it to be a keepsake and special but that I can still afford.

Any ideas?

I hope you all can help me out.

from a clueless bride-to-be...
Samantha:(

Samantha,

How about a wristwatch, you could get it engraved.

Also, my brother gave all the guys in his wedding party Leatherman tools and he had them all engraved. This might be good if he is 'handy'

How about Micky Groom Ears ;)

I'll keep thinking.

DW made me the neatest thing..my own special cake..:o
It said to my better half, and she drew a picture of two people in a donkey costume and they were looking at each other at the middle of it..We took a picture but it came out blurry..:(

What kind of things does he like???

Hmmmmm toughy..... I always give the same thing at weddings (a lava lamp) but I dont think that would work here.....

Stream of thinking here....

key chain, picture frame, money clip, bracelet, shoe trees, mailbox with your names on it, subscription to Sports Ill. , watch, pocket watch, tattoo, a bunch of CD's, The book.... Joy of Sex..... a new golf club/bowling ball.....

:::::::shrug::::::::: what does he like... what does he do....

I was looking for this as Debbie was answering. How about something like this??

Wow Dan that is a great watch and he wants to get one on our honeymoon in Feb. We agreed to allow one large purchase per person so I will let him pick it out.

To give you all a little more info...

He doesn't watch sports, he loves Star Wars and collect the figures but I have bought him over a hundred of them already so it would not be special. I gave him a watch for X-mas last year and I have the matching one now.

If he had any money I would give him a money clip...:p and I'm a photographer so we have a ton of picture frames. The pocket watch is a good idea but I don't know how much they cost and I will have to see if he likes them.

At the wedding, I will have a special table set up with a groom's cake on it. (Chocolate with chocolate icing and chocolate shavings with a Han and Leia on top of the cake...Star Wars plate and cups too) Something at the wedding must be for him...;)

As for HANDY... I'm more handy than he is and I own my own power tools. (My Dad was a contractor so go figure..)

See, I knew this wasn't going to be easy...

Thanks for the ideas...:D

Dan, are you ever at WDW in early Feb??? I would love to meet you to discuss photography. Your pics are the best on the DIS!

You may want to try a Drew Struzan Star Wars Litho. He's the artist who does the Star Wars posters (& the guy who did the Indy I use in my sig).
Here's his site:

I would also check a lot of the Star Wars fans sites as they have a lot of merch for the uber-Star Wars fan, which I'm sure will give you some unique ideas.

Now, if you really want to spend a little to a lot more, I'd highly recommend getting him a lightsaber.
There's 2 companies that make them:

1) I've used this in person is extremely durable, you can duel with them & it has a lifetime guarantee. It's about $200 & looks great:

2) The second is cheaper, about $95, but I don't know about the quality.

I like the idea of something engraved with a short thought and the date. A watch, wrist or pocket...a keepsake that says "Ilove you always" everytime he sees it.

Good luck!

Wow Jeff, those sabers look great! :)

Well guys, I tried to see if he liked pocket watches when we went to get him a new battery for his watch tonight.....He hates them. He said that he would only like them if he was over 60!

I'm soo frustrated over this.

The lightsabers look great but he already knows which one he wants and says it would cost $200. So I will have to wait for that on our 1st anniversary.

Thanks for all the help though and if you have more ideas let me know.

Samantha, I was at WDW one time in February (it was great) but I seem to be in a May and Dec pattern. I would love to talk photography with you also, and what better place than WDW!!!!! But for now, no Feb's in my plans. :( Thanks for your compliment, but I must say there are some great photographers on the DIS. I think I might just post a lot of them, and also remote link them to see here, rather than using just a link. They get seen a lot, but check out some of those links in people's signatures, there is some real beauty out there. I especially enjoyed your b&w wedding photos and your portraits.
