What are our chances of getting the week of spring break in a 2 bedroom at Hilton Head if we call at 7 months? I know summers can be tough, but I am not so sure about this week, since I know the weather can be dicey in SC. then.

I would imagine you could do it because Spring Break varies so much from location to location. Plus there are more 2BR's than any other kind of unit. Finally, like you said the weather can be dicey then.

In 2003 and 2005, we went to HHI over spring break and reserved at 7 months. We were booking a 1 BR, which there are even fewer of. So based on our experience, I'd say your chances are excellent. My only concern is that it seems that people have reported having a harder time booking non-home resorts the last couple years.

I just called 5 min. ago to check availability for Sun March 22-departing Friday, March, 27 for a 1 bedroom. Only Monday and Thursday available!!! This is right at the 7 mos. mark.

I called for a two bedroom March 15-20 about 40 minutes ago - still available.

I took a VB OV inn room instead but I'm still dreaming about HH.

I just called 5 min. ago to check availability for Sun March 22-departing Friday, March, 27 for a 1 bedroom. Only Monday and Thursday available!!! This is right at the 7 mos. mark.

Thanks so much for reporting this. I've been trying to talk DH into an add-on at HHI for almost a year, but because we've never had trouble getting a 1 BR off-season (including spring break), he's been reluctant. You may have just given me the ammunition I need to sway him.

We were in HH in 2007 for our Northeast spring break and I reserved a 2BR at 7 months and then later added a studio. We went Sunday to Friday and spent a night on the front end in Charleston on the way down. I think there were a few nights on the weekends which were booked and perhaps 1 night that we had to waitlist for, but I don't remember it being a long drawn out hassle. I think it helped that Easter was on the first weekend or 1-2 weeks before. We loved it and would do it again. Best of luck. Check the new availability board.

Thanks for all the great feedback. This would be for Easter week 2010. So I am not worried about the 7 month window for 2009. I just wanted to get an idea about my chances.

I checked my palm pilot (I love that thing) and our NE break was a week after Easter in 2007 so I suspect that helped.

I also recall that I found someone on the rent trade board who was willing to swap his HH points for our BC or BW points. We would have made equivalent reservations for each other at 11 months and paid the difference in cash, but since I had no trouble booking it at 7 months, I didn't need his help. So that's a way to possibly do the reservation earlier than 7 months.

We're calling on Friday for March 29 - April 3rd (Sunday - Friday stay) for a 1BR. If we can't get a 1BR, we're going to try for a 2 BR... although maybe I'll just try for a 2 BR instead and we'll be able to "spread out" a bit more...

I had to change my "call day" on my calendar since they changed the rules about when you can call being based on your arrival day - I love that so much better!

This is a great idea actually. Unfortunately, I own at SSR and AKL. SSR should still not be hard to get a 7 months, and we do not want to part with our AKL points.

Suprisingly, this last Easter week (Week following Easter Sunday)we were able to book a studio at BCV 3 months out. I am wondering if it was not too difficult due to the points being a premium at that time of the year at WDW. Who knows, maybe it was a a fluke... I just know that we really enjoyed that resort.
