Calling All Hawaii Vacation Veterans!

Help a fellow Dis-er plan her first Hawaiian vacation! DH and I would like to go in June of 2010. We're in our late 20's with no kids. We like to be busy on vacation but we still want some time to relax on the beac. We want to see volcanoes, take surfing lessions, go snorkeling, and go to a real luau! For all you Hawaii veterans - is there a website like allears.net to help us plan? We'd like to stay on the Big Island, preferably close to the beac - where should we stay? Are guided tours worth the money? Any suggestions are great since we don't know where to start!

I really like www.fodors.com Drill down through "talk", select "Hawaii" and there are lots of people there that can answer your questions and chat. Do a search first to answer your basic questions. The search engine works well. For a website to look at the various resorts, etc I like www.wizardpub.com. Hit enter, go to the Big Island and check out the resorts, aerial views, reviews, etc. How long do you plan to be in Hawaii? Seven days is adequate for the Big Island if you like to keep busy and the other islands could be enjoyed in fewer days. Of course all of them could be enjoyed for a lot more days, but you may not have weeks, and weeks.
