Do you have any sort of strategy when it comes to viewing the fireworks during the party...favorite place to view, when to stake out the spot, etc?

Thanks in advance ~

I usually am tired after a long day at the park already, plus my candy high is wearing off by the time the fireworks are going to happen so I take a seat about 45 minutes before they start. I used to sit behind a planter to the left of the castle in front of the now Jolly Holiday Bakery. This was before when it was an unused area though. Now that it's a busy bakery it'll probably be harder to get that spot. Don't it too far to the right of the castle because then you won't be able to see the globe with all the characters on it.

I'm wondering...do most folks stand when viewing the fireworks?

My plan is to try & score a bench right in front of the castle, you know...at the Hub. If we sit here, will we be eclipsed by all those people standing? Or could we stand on the bench & score an even better spot??

Also, if my goal is to get a bench, how far in advance would I realistically need to stake my claim? 45 mins early doesnt seem like enough time to me:confused3

I want to see the parade and the fireworks. Can I keep the same spot for both? Where should I sit and when should I get there?

Last year, we lucked into a spot right in front of the castle about 30 minutes before the fireworks. Most of the people around us were sitting, so we sat. Then the fireworks started, and most of the people in front of us stood up, so we had no choice but to stand up as well if we wanted to see. It upset a women with two small children who was sitting behind us pretty badly. There was a brief effort to ask everyone to sit back down, but by then the show had begun and no one was really listening.

I suppose I'm saying that you should be prepared for people to stand, even if they're sitting beforehand. (Which makes no sense to me at all.)

I don't know if they're still enforcing it, but in the past they required you to stand for fireworks. Typically people sit to hold their spot, and about 10-15 minutes before the fireworks start, the CMs come around and make everyone stand up.

Good luck scoring a bench. I've seen benches full of people reserving them 3 hours before the fireworks start. Anything less than 2.5 or 3 hours, and you likely won't get it. That's too much time sitting around and waiting for me.

that's what we did too. we just happend to be walking around looking for a spot and there was just enough space for two of us. we sat as we waited but stood for the show and it was indeed magical.

This is exactly right.

The Cast Members come by and ask everyone to stand up. (Well, they ask a small group. Once they stand, the ripple effect kicks in and results in everyone standing.)

It's a safety issue. Once the lights go out and the fireworks start if there was an emergency and fire, paramedic, etc... need to get through the crowd, it's MUCH easier with everyone standing. Plus, if there is the need for evacuation, people sitting is a recipe for trampling. Standing once the lights go out is customary and for safety.

Makes total sense to me! I had expected this to be the case...

I don't think we will be able to grab a bench as I'm just not willing to spend hours sitting on a bench just for the fireworks show. Since we will be attending the party with my grandparents & Mom, in addition to my family of 3- I think it's safe to say we can't just "tuck in" to the crowd. Too many of us & I wouldn't want to squish anyone who's been patiently waiting & staking their claim.

Oh well...best plan on at least an hour. Anyone know what time they do fireworks? And I've heard they have 2 parade times. Could I stay in my same spot after the fireworks to catch the 2nd parade??

9first parade, 930 fireworks i think and 10 the second parade? is what ive ehard i think
