your welcome !
slo said:It's been awhile since I have posted a fireman/EMT story from our town here on the Fireman Wife Thread. We have just not had much excitement around our town lately. Last night we had a very tragic thing happen in our town that has left us all very sad and speechless.
At 10pm last night a 911 call was made by the 30yr old mother of two boys ages 2 & 9. The dispatcher said that it was an ambulance call for two boys - unknown injuries. My DH didn't go because he was sleeping and didn't hear his pager go off. Shortly after the call came the dispatcher came over the radio again saying this was a "signal 10" meaning - get here as fast as you can!!! By this time DH woke up but still didn't go because he realized that he missed getting onto the Rescue Truck at the station.
The next morning I put on the morning and saw that from my town 2 boys were found murdered in their home and their mother was taken into custody for the murderers. I was in shock - that was the call that DH didn't go on.
As it turns out, there was nothing our guys could have done because the policeofficer pronounced them dead on the scene. The boys were both hit in the head with a dumbbell. The police chief says that they believe the boys were awake when all this was taking place and it was not something that was done in their sleep.
In the end, I was glad that DH didn't go onto this call because it would have really affected him badly because these kids are basically the same ages as our children. He says that even though he didn't go onto this call, he is still affected because he has responded to this house before due to the 9yr old boy being injured. Plus.......this happened 1 block away from our old house and we both remember him playing outside. My girlfriend lives a block away from these boys and her older son did go to school with the 9yr old boy. She doesn't know what to tell him, but she knows she has to tell him something. Her son knows something bad happened because his dad is a fireman/EMT w/ my DH and he heard his dad's pager go off. Plus there are news vans all over there street trying to get to this house.
I feel really bad for the officer that was on the scene first and found these two boys dead in their home. He's a really nice man with 2 young children of his own. We haven't had a murder in our town for 22 years and therefore he would have never seen something like this the whole time he has been a police officer. My girlfriend asked his wife how he was doing and she said that he is doing fine - I hope she's right.
All night I look at my kids and I can't believe that someone could murder their own children. I guess the mother has been medicated for depression - but it's still so hard to comprehend.
So, that's the sad story from our little town. I'll post on any further details about this story.

By the by, both my DH and I are paid FF's, but at different departments(just don't want to be figured into the above catagory!!!!)

How's it going? It's good to see you - come back often!!!![]()

- I hope no one is mad at me. It will get in the mail real soon - I promise!!!
). BabyKate is starting to visit the 2 year old room at her daycare next week and I'm pretty nervous about her transition - she really likes her teacher in the 1 year old room. But...I'm sure she'll do fine in the end.
). I'm glad about this because it has been so hot that I always get nervous when DH has to put on all that gear on a hot day.
I think she will do fine with the transition. I think change is harder on us than them! Enjoy being illness free. I work in a pediatrician's office and we don't usually start with the big run on sickness until about two weeks after school starts. Talk to ya'll soon!
