Welcome rentayenta!!! I hope you visit often!!

I have been married to my firefighter for 13 years. I love having this thread (go slo!). It's really great to get to know other firefighter wives!

OMG, I cannot believe there a firefighter wive's thread. Very cool. I have been married to my hot firefighter for 14 years.

I have been reading the DIS boards for years and I recently stumbled on this thread as well. My husband has been a firefighter for 16 years, and I have been a stay at home mom. A couple of years ago, I decided to go back to college and I am thrilled to say that in 1 year I will be a Registered Nurse. My wonderful DH works as much overtime as he can to support my Disney habit but he told me that once I become an RN, we can go to DisneyWorld every 6 months, and I am holding him to it!!
Thanks for such a fun interesting thread!

Hey Girls:cool1:

Thought I would check in and see what is shaking over here.

Slo how are the girls ????

Hi Tamara, Mad4Mickey, and Idroveallnight. :wave2: It's nice to have a thread like this.

Tamara, congrats on going back to school. How does your DH feel about the possibilty of you making more money than he does? Mine is overjoyed! I was a SAHM for 10 years, just went back to work last May and am finishing my Master's this May. My DH also works as a flight paramedic. I thought firefighting was scary until he started flying around in a helicopter. I said maybe you get another dangerous job, SWAT team maybe? ;)

Welcome to you too, Tamara! I am an RN!! It seems a very common combo - firefighters & nurses! At least around down here!

I am not an RN but a Mental Health therapist if that counts. ;) Something about those in the helping profession being attracted to those in the helping profession!

I am really loving this time change this early ::yes::
Normally, I get so used to it being light out when I get up, that it's a real bummer when it's dark again. This year, I didn't get used to it, and now it's no big deal. Plus, it was so nice having it light out longer yesterday - that makes me feel like spring is almost here!!! :flower2:

Wow, there was a lot of activity here while I was gone - that's awesome!!! :yay:

Idroveallnight - I'm so sorry to hear about you and Emily falling off your bikes - OUCH!!!! I'm glad you weren't hurt to badly - a fall like that could have really hurt you both
**If it makes you feel any better - Kevin fell off Stephanie's new scooter yesterday (its a Razor). I didn't see it happen, all I saw was him literally brushing himself off. He already said that he's sore today:rolleyes:

Mad4Mickey - So good to see you my friend!!!!! How's everything going with your nephew? We miss you here - come by more often and visit!!!!
**The girls are doing well :goodvibes They are getting way to big way to fast - I don't like it  I want them to stay young and innocent foreverprincess: princess:

Well, I gotta go and get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Well, I am hating daylight savings this morning! Something about Monday and the time change - ugh!

Yesterday was a busy day.
Work was good, and then Steph had dance, and then immediately after that the girls as I went out to dinner with my parents, and my brother and his wife (poor Kevin had an FD meeting an couldn't go). It was a good day, just a busy day.

Today I have alot on my list of things to do after I take Katie to daycare.
Having the nice weather will make errands a pleasure :sunny:

Gotta run
Have a good day today!!!

Good Morning and thank you for the Welcome!!
Yes, firefighters/nurses are pretty common around here too.
Idroveallnight: how long have you been a nurse? I wish I did this a long time ago, like when I was younger and able to retain what I learn for more than an hour. :rotfl: I can't wait to be finished with school. I am constantly studying, my kids are fed up with me! :) I'm on "spring break" this week and my life is actually a little normal. Its going to be nice when May comes and I have the entire summer to NOT open a book (unless of course its a trashy novel) :)

Tamara - I have been a nurse 13 years. You mean to tell me I was supposed to remember that stuff from nursing school??? Not just short term memory for the test, then it's gone??? Well, that explains alot about my career!!!:lmao: Just kidding!! I remember some of it! Don't sweat it! You will do wonderfully! It's almost over!

Sandy - I hope your errands go well!

The night nurse called in , so I worked all day & late yesterday, now I'm dragging butt! The kids are taking exams this week. James has his first practice game tonite. I am already tired just thinking about it!!

Have a great day!

So many errands yesterday - so little time!!!!

The best thing I did yesterday was have lunch with a friend that I lost touch with (Stephanie's Godfather) I called him and asked him if he wanted to do lunch, and he said yes - I was so good to see him. We've been friends since we were 16, and I missed him. We agreed that we will see each other alot more, and never let to much time pass by again w/o seeing each other.

Today I go to the Orthopedic to see what's going on with my knees. I'll let you guys know what he says.

Tamara - Good luck with all your studies:wizard: That's great that you are going to school to be a nurse. How old are your kids?

Idroveallnight - Sounds like you had a long day the other day:guilty: Have you heard anything about the other job you want?

Well, I gotta run and get ready for this appointment.
Have a good day today!!!

Whew, glad to hear that I really don't have to remember it all! I was getting a little nervous about that! :)
I have an 11 yr old son and a 13 yr old daughter. We are surprising both kids by taking them to DIsneyworld for my son's 12th birthday in JUne. I'm still trying to think of a way to really really surprise them with this trip. ANy ideas?

You could tell them you are going to a boring nursing thing in Reedy Creek and that you will so busy that they will just have to stay at the hotel. Then suprise them with tickets just before yoiu get there.

Thanks slo- seems like a fun place to be and I am sure I will spending lots of time here! :woohoo: I am loving the time change too. WE BBQd on the deck last night, it was so beautiful. 65* for Utah is really nice for this time of the year.

Hope all you wives are doing well and safe shifts for all our men. :goodvibes

My Orthopedic appointment went well yesterday.

He said that the problem is a "mechanical problem" and he firmly believes that it's not a connective tissue problem (thank God). So, I have to go to physical therapy a couple of times a week for about 6 weeks (like I have time for that). So I'm going to go back to the same physical therapy place I went to for my neck last year, and I start next Tuesday. Then I have to go back and see the doctor again in 5 weeks. So, it was pretty good news, and since this is someone I know personally, I trust that he is giving me the best care :)

Idroveallnight - Thanks for the good luck :goodvibes

Tamara - How fun that you are surprising your kids. I could never keep a secret like that

rentayenta - A BBQ sounds fun - I love to do that!!!!:)

Well, I gotta run and get ready for work
Have a good day today!!

TGIF everyone!!!

Talk to ya later!!!
Have a good day today!!!
