eeyore - thanks for the concern! We are always very careful. There are areas I would never stand in. We stick to a pretty much family area. I don't go near the bad neighborhoods or the area near all the bars!! The season starts slowly, but from last night on there will be at least one parade everyday/night until Fat Tuesday. Sometimes there will be three or more! We do enjoy it! party:

I am glad you are getting to spend time with your DD! Sarah is going to Dallas next Wednesday to spend time with her room mate for college. I am glad they are forming a bond, but I have to admit it is hard to think of her being away! She'll be watching Grey's Anatomy with someone else now...

slo - enjoy your day! I know ya'll will have fun!

Good morning everyone!!! :sunny: :cold:

It is so cold her this morning. It's currently 7 below zero  and there's only going to be a high today of 8 above  I really wishing I didn't promise the girls I'd take them to see Curious George - I hate taking them out in the cold.

Yesterday was a great day for Stephanie and I. We went shopping, bowling, had lunch, went to the library and then finally came home. It was a very enjoyable day!!! :thumbsup2

eeyoresmountainpals - how was your day with your DD? Hopefully you guys had alot of fun together :)

Idroveallnight - Your ticker has hit the single digits!! How about we do a single digit dance in honor of your vacation.

Curious George was great!! :thumbsup2 The girls absolutly loved it :teeth:

Today we are staying in and baking some brownies and watching SkyHigh. My FIL is coming over to watch The Daytona 500 with Kevin, so I guess we are all going to have our faces shoved in front of the TV today

Have a good Sunday

Good Morning Everyone ~

slo ~ It sounds like you had a wonderful day with Stephanie. Heather and I used to have days like those all the time when she was little. Enjoy them because as they get older those days get fewer and farther between. Heather made it in late Thursday night and we watched tv and talked and ate until the wee hours. Then Friday we went for our haircuts and had lunch. It was a really nice day. She headed back to Charlotte in the evening after making a last minute run to town for pizza for her brothers' middle school dance. I was supposed to go pick it up but it was Matthew's first dance and Heather offered so that I didn't feel rushed helping Matthew get ready and getting him to the dance. I thought that was so sweet of her to offer!

And speaking of the dance, Matthew and Andrew both had fun. Matthew is an absolute social butterfly - he danced the whole time. Andrew is a wallflower! He didn't dance at all but he ate, and hung out and said he had fun.

Idroveallnight ~ I'm glad to know there are "family" areas for Mardi Gras. As I had said before I really know nothing about Mardi Gras. Most of my knowledge and education on Mardi Gras comes from watching episodes of Cops!!! :rotfl:

I'm so glad Sarah is getting to spend some time with her soon-to-be roommate. Heather never had that opportunity and never had a good relationship with her first roommate.

We are leaving in the morning for a quick trip to PA. We received word yesterday that Grandpa is not doing well. They told him Friday that they felt he had two weeks to a month and that's all. He had finished his course of radiation and chemo just a few weeks ago and they did another MRI this past week and they found that he has three new tumors! Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Also, if you would keep my friend's daughter, Emily, in your thoughts and prayers. She is battling leukemia and has been for four years. She was supposed to be heading to Memphis for a bone marrow transplant at the end of this month or the beginning of March but she has had some problems with her last round of chemo. If anyone is interested here is her site:

http://www.caringbridge.org/fl/emilylester/

She is such a strong young lady and such an inspiration!! Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!!

Idroveallnight ~ Congratulations on the single digits! Here's to you:

:dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

Happy Sunday everyone. And since I won't be on tomorrow have a great week!

Good morning everyone!!!

It is still so cold around here - I hate winter!!!

Yesterday was a great day around here. The girls and I made brownies, which were yummy :goodvibes Then we watched SkyHigh, which was a fun movie :thumbsup2 Then the best part of the day, was Katie went on the potty 13 times :cool1: I'm so proud of her!!!! I'm not saying she's potty trained, but I am saying she's on the road to being potty trained :) My goal is to not go to WDW with any diapers this September, so we have a lot of time to work on this ;)

eeyoresmountainpals - I'm glad you had a nice visit with Heather, she sounds like a wonderful young lady, I bet you are really proud of her!!! :) I'm glad Matthew and Andrew had fun at their dance

I looked at Emily's webpage and when I have more time, I will go back and read more. What a beautiful girl she is and how terrible that she has to go through so much sickness :( . I will definitly keep her and her family in my thoughts and prayers. I will also keep Grandma in my thoughts and prayers. That is such terrible news that he only has 2 weeks to a month to live :( I will also keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers because I know how close to him you all are.

Idroveallnight - Have you been packing all weekend? :teeth:

Well, that's about it from me today - have a good day everyone!!

Good mornig everyone!

Sounds like we've all been having good times with the girls! (and guys)! We went to parades all weekend. Our days aren't too cold.

Packing? What's that?????? I have been picking up things - shampoo, body glide, toothbrushes, etc... I have found the packing is easier the older they are!

Congratulations on the potty!! :cheer2:

eeyore - I will keep your family in myprayers! :grouphug:

Hi there!!

CSI Miami is a rerun tonight, so I thought I would jump on the computer :teeth:

Idroveallnight - You haven't done much packing yet?! :faint: I'm one of those crazy people that has to have everything laid out over a week before we go :bitelip: Embarrassingly, I even laid out their things according to the days of the week, this way I knew they would have everything  I'm pretty naurotic when it comes to packing

I'm glad you had fun this weekend at the parades. I've never experienced Mardi Gras, but it sure seems like fun!!!

Thanks for the congrats for Katie going on the potty. She had another great day today :thumbsup2 She only goes on the potty at home and not at daycare. But, her teacher said that is really normal. I have definitly realized that she loves her candy reward, and that's what is making her want to use that potty. Whatever works - right?! :confused3

Well, I think I'm going to head off to bed. Kevin is at his FD meeting and he probably won't be home for awhile yet. Have a good night!!

Just me checking in : ) Wonder if you guys even remember me ......

HI SLO :cool1:

Hello my friend  I'm so glad you came by!!!

Hello Mad4Mickey!!!!

slo - I did lay out clothes for everyday when they were younger now they pack for themselves and then I do a final inspection - count undies, make sure things match... My big thing is the medical supplies & toiletries! Body glide - check! Every medicine I can find - check! Stuff like that!

I am off Friday & my neice Haley (who is going with us - woohoo :woohoo: ) is going to come eary & we will run all our pretrip errands.

I think that is great about potty training!! I think it helps when they have an older sister! Emily did wonderfully with a small set back when James arrived! Sarah was at a small home daycare with 3 older girls and she did well! Good luck & best wishes for continued potty triumphs!!!

Hi there!!

Law & Order SVU isn't on due to The Olympics, so I thought I would DIS tonight.

That's great you don't have to stress out about packing. I look forward to the day that I don't have to stress out either - I have a feeling that won't be for a long time. ;)

I am off Friday & my neice Haley (who is going with us - woohoo ) is going to come eary & we will run all our pretrip errands.

How old is your neice? I sure hope my brother has children someday so I can a neice or nephew or both :)

Good luck & best wishes for continued potty triumphs!!!

Thank you!! Katie had a great potty day today. She only had one accident all day, and that was only a piddle :cheer2: . I can't believe my baby is in the final stages of being a baby - makes me a little sad  Why do kids have to grow up so fast :worried:

Well, I guess I should be off to bed - talk to you tomorrow!!!

Good Morning!!

I just can't get used to you posting at night!! I know you'll be glad when they stop the reruns!
Haley is 13 and hasn't been to WDW for 8 years! She is so excited! She has a pass for Splash Mountain since she wasn't tall enough! SM will be our first stop on our first day!! I am really excited about EE. We rode Mission SPace during tis soft opening & it looks like we will get to ride EE the same way! We also have tix to see the Braves play the Dodgers at Wide WOrld of Sports. James plays baseball & Haley plays fastpitch softball. Emily is in pursuit of autographs & pix.

I will start getting a little stressed in the next day or two! My mom always says we could just take two outfits & wash them! I don't think I'm that relaxed! The biggest thing is having a variety of clothes because of the weather changes this time of year. We are also going to take some Mardi Gras beads to pass out on Fat Tuesday.

Have a great day!!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!
:thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

Yesterday I'm talking to Kevin on the phone at work, and one of my coworkers comes in the backroom with this box. She says, "you got a package." I said, "from who??? :confused3 " She looks at the box and say, "It's from Alabama." So I said to Kevin, "Hey, I just got a package from Karen in Alabama :woohoo: ". He says, "What's in it?" I said, "Do you want me to open while you are on the phone." He says, "yeah".

So, I opened it up and I can't believe the amount of stuff that's inside it. So I told him, "It's Mardi Gras stuff :cool1: " and he said, "Wow, that was really nice of her." and I said, "It was really nice of her, and she's a nice person!!!" :)

I really can't thank you enough for thinking of me  I haven't shown my girls what was in the box yet, I figured I'll show them on the weekend. They'll love wearing all those beads :teeth: Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Oh.....I've never had a MoonPie before, so I'm looking forward to trying one of those :goodvibes

I just can't get used to you posting at night!! I know you'll be glad when they stop the reruns!

No posting last night, I was so tired last night. I was in my PJ's by 8:30pm and then fell asleep in front of the TV by 9pm. I am looking forward to not having reruns anymore.

She has a pass for Splash Mountain since she wasn't tall enough!

This is Stephanie's favorite ride. I hope your niece loves it!!! :cool1:

We also have tix to see the Braves play the Dodgers at Wide WOrld of Sports.

That sounds like fun!!! I haven't been to a baseball game since before Stephanie was born.

The biggest thing is having a variety of clothes because of the weather changes this time of year.

This would be hard to plan for!! Just thinking of it stresses me out!! ;)

Well, I better run and get ready for work. Have a good day!!!

You are so very welcome!! THey throw such a huge variety of stuff! I love banana moonpies! Some people warm them in the microwave. The cups are what we consider "Mobile fine China" - everyone has these cups!! Each organization throws their own personalized cups - my favs. SOme are just generic - like the ones with future dates. I'm glad you think the girls will enjoy the stuff. My kids love to catch serpentine (I think I sent you some). They learn at an early age to separate one ring at a time and blow them out. Ya'll can have your own little Mardi Gras. We are going to take some stuff to decortae our hotle room and make special bags for Mousekeeping. We are also going to take beads to give out on Tuesday. I am on a mission to find Delores with special stuff too - she is the CM who picked us to be opening family a few years ago and she even managed to find us on our way out of the park to say goodbye. I hope she is still there.

James packed his bag last night so I will have to check it very closely. I think he may only have 1 pair of socks, but he has his robe and slippers (which I know he won't use)! :rotfl: Wait I guess that means he packs like his Mom!

Have a great day!!

Ok - so after reading my post and seeing all the typos I realize that I am going to need some caffeine this morning! :coffee: I may have to make a Starbuck's run - of course I don't drink traditional coffee - Caramal Frap for me!! How many calories is that? It may be worth it since I am fairly certain that parents don't want someone giving their children shots when she isn't fully awake!!!

Idroveallnight -

I let the girls look in the box yesterday and they were so excited :cool1: The first thing that Stephanie went for was the back-scratcher. Then I let the girls pick out 2 sets of beads, and they could each take a Baby Beanie Baby.
I told them they could have a couple more things this weekend :)

I'm going to wash the cups and put them by Kevin's bar, where they will get used all the time :thumbsup2 . He has a tapper on his bar and they (him and my FIL) use generic plastic cups - now they can use something more fun :cool1:

I hope you have a good day off with your neice today :cool1: Have fun finalizing everything for your vacation. When exactly do you leave again?

Well, I gotta run - have a good day everyone!!

I hope evryone enjoys the Mardi Gras stuff! I'll have to replenish Kevin's cups each year. That's about how long they are good for with frequent use! :drinking1

We will leave Sunday morning. I know today will be busy for me! I'm glad I have Haley for company. I got to watch her play softball last night - first game of the season and she is SO good! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Talk to ya soon! I will probably be on & off the board today because I come here when I am stressed!

Hello everybody. Just wanted to let you guys know that I read all 71 pages of this post. Guess you can tell I work 3rd shift. I am the wife of a full time Paramedic. He works the 24/48 shifts. When we first met he was a Vol FF so I know all about the missed dinners and family functions. There are times now that he misses family functions. Those late calls can be a killer. Also I deal with paid and Vol firemen everyday that I work. I am what some of you wives have called "the Dispatcher". I work as a 911 dispatcher for the county that I live in. I dispatch our Sheriff's Dept, EMS, paid City FD, and our wonderful Vol Firemen. I had to send some of our Vol FF's to assist a paid dept last night and the Vol ff's went in and saved the day and put the fire out for the paid dept. I understand how you guys feel when your hubbys leave to run a call. I feel like I have a bunch of hubbys with the job I have. I expect that when I go home in the mornings that I send everybody home in the same shape that came in. I take my job very seriously and I want to make sure I do everything I can to make sure everybody paid or Vol gets to go home safely. I worry about anybody that I send on a call. I keep regular checks on them and if I think something does not feel right about the sistuation I will send law enforcement too. I will check back in later :grouphug: to all.
