am I there yet - I would love the info! This has been my first experience with this kind of thing & I really enjot it! As far as wives go - I am not friendly with many here with our department. I did fix my best friend up on a blind date with one of DH crew mates & they got married so I am close to one other fire fighter's wife! :bride: :groom:

I hope everyone had a great day!!

It's

!!! It's

!!!

I can't believe it's my last work day of 2005 :cool1: It seems like yesterday when I couldn't believe it was my last work day of 2004 :earseek: When I was kid, I would think it was so corny when my parents would talk about how time just flies - and now I couldn't agree more

Idroveallnight - I'm not that friendly with many wives on Kevin's dept either :guilty: I have one lady that I used to be very very close to and that fell apart (she became friends with another lady and she really changed), so now we just email each other once in awhile. Another lady I do really like and we enjoy each others company at FD parties. The last lady is my neighbor, but I look at her like my my neighbor, not a FD wife.

GRAYWIFE - I would have gone crazy to if my DH went to New Orleans because I would have been worried about him and because we are really close too. You're a great wife for agreeing to him going!!!

Am_I_There_Yet - I'll enjoy looking at that info too, thanks for asking us :flower:

Well, I'd better get going for my last day of work in 2005 :cool1: Idroveallnight, I'm sorry you still have to work tomorrow, but when you come home, you can do a happy dance

because you'll be done working for 2005 too :teeth: . Have a good day everyone!!!

I'm not close friends with any of the wives either. I've sold houses to several of them and am fixing to start working with another FF next week, but our department pretty much keeps to itself.

Ironically, you'll find that the majority of the women on the MSN site have the same "problem".

I was here at home going crazy while he was gone. Richie was told at 6pm he was not selected to go but they wanted him to cover a guy at the station so he could go home to pack and make arrangements. He goes in at 6:30pm & I watched the news at 9pm that said they were shooting at firefighters and I was so glad he was not going. He called home at 9:30pm and said one guy backed out and they wanted him to go. Because he is married the chief said it was my call if I was ok with him going then he was to get home and pack. I said yes but then I was sick wondering if he gets hurt, sick or anything it would be my fault!! We are so proud of what he did. My Dh and I are joined at the hip and everyone was shocked that I let him go!!

It must have been tough. As much as I'd like to see my DH be able to do humanitarian duties like that, I'd be scared too! I know how this one particular wives was handling it! She was beside herself! He called her and told her that he was with a news crew and that they were taking fire and then the connection was lost. She about lost it.

About taking over as the managing Broker...I have been running the office for 4 years now...all that changes is that I am the OFFICIAL Broker and therefore responsible for everything. DD was at the office with me yesterday and she was really good but it is so much easier when she is home with daddy. :)

Ah, I see! Well, I've been stuck here big-time. Come to find out, DH's ex-wife sent his seven-year old to us with a head-full of lice! I'm still wondering if that was my Christmas present. :confused3

Okay, I posted a message on the MSN site, pinging the two ladies that manage it, and I haven't gotten a response back yet. This time of year, the postings drop down a little bit, so I'm sure they're both just super-busy, but I'll send them a direct email too.

Depending on how they tell me to send you the invite, I may have to do it thru PM's. I'll post on here first so you'll know to look out for it.

You all have a great day! I'm off to put the FF emblem back on my signature!

I sent PM's to everyone that requested the info.

It'll say firewivespix, because the site was originally started for us to share pictures. It evolved into our new message board home, when our old one went down.

I just didn't want anyone to be confused by the name!

am I there yet - don't let lice get you down!! If you can't get them cleared let me know! I am a nurse in a pediatrician's office so I talk about lice alot!! I have a sure fire cure! No one ever calls back after I give it to them. I figure it either works or they think I'm crazy and are scared to call back!! :rotfl2:

slo - I think tomorrow will be OK. We will have 2 docs and 2 nurses until around 2pm. Then me & my doc after that. He doesn't like to just hang out & wait on people so it shouldn't be too late! :hourglass I know what you mean about time flying! I can't believe how fast it goes once you have kids! I have started shopping for a new vehicle & I'm in a weird place because I don't need a minivan anymore. Is that good or bad? DD 17 says shes ready for me not to be a "minivan mom" anymore!

Good evening everyone!!!

Katie finally fell asleep in her new bed. It took her a long time to adjust to her new bed and to fall asleep. I'm just hoping she will sleep through the whole night
1.gif

Idroveallnight - shopping for a new car is fun!!! Do you have anything in mind about what you want? It's going to be weird for you for awhile if you don't get a minivan - but I'm sure you will adjust quickly ;) I love my minivan, but I know I will love it when I don't have to have one anymore. Also....lots of PD coming your way for a smooth day at work tomorrow :wizard: :wizard:

Am_I_There_Yet - thanks for the PM!! I'm going to check it out sometime after the holiday :flower:

To all my fireman wife friends:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I hope you all have a fun, safe, and happy New Years celebration tomorrow night

slo - I like the Hyundai Tuscon & Santa Fe. They have a really good warranty. I could be happy with another van.
So did Katie make it all night in her bed?

Happy New Year!!!

Hello everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE!

Haven't been on this thread for a few days so I feel I've got to get caught up! :goodvibes

slo ~ Please tell Kevin Happy Belated Birthday from our family. I hope he had a nice birthday! Did Katie make it through the night in her new bed??

Idroveallnight ~ Good luck with your vehicle shopping. I'm still at the mini-van stage and I think I will be for a while. I think it'll be strange to finally get out of that stage! Whenever I do finally get out of that stage I want either a Grand Am SE or a Jeep! (Mid-life crisis?? :rotfl: )

Am_I_There_Yet ~ Good luck with the lice! UGH! We went through that with four kids one year! Not fun at all! (Did the ex at least say Merry Christmas with the gift? :teeth: )

We just got back from a quick (and I do mean quick) trip to PA to see Grandpa. :teeth: In case you hadn't seen my other post he was diagnosed the day before Thanksgiving with a very aggressive form of brain cancer. He is taking chemo and daily radiation. Considering all he's been through he looked pretty good. He's having a little problem with his speech and is sometimes having trouble finding the words that he's looking for. And when we visited Thursday he was just beginning to lose his hair. That was bothering him but DH tried to make him feel better by taking his hat off and showing off his almost bald head! :rotfl: Grandpa did laugh at that. When we left Nana and Grandpa both cried and thanked us for making the trip. We hope to be able to go back in about six weeks. It was 820 miles round trip and we were only gone from home 39 hours! Whew! But it was well worth it. DD even drove from college. She did the first 2 hours or so by herself and then came onto I81 just about the time we had passed her exit. We ended up traveling anywhere from 5 - 25 miles apart all the way up and back. And she did all her own driving and DH did all the driving in our van. I was just a back-up just in case but I got to sit and ride the whole time.

Another update for everyone is the friend in Andrew's class. He was to have started chemo Thursday and we're waiting to hear how that went. So we hope that you'll all keep Grandpa and Andrew's friend in your thoughts and prayers!

If I'm not on here tomorrow I wish everyone a
VERY HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR

Nope! I did say that she owed me, over and over and over again, as I was nit picking. I know that'll get back to her... lol.

Good 1st morning of 2006 everyone!!! :cool1:

Did you all have a good night last night?

We had fun with our family over last night. We had tons of food, which is great, because we now have tons left over. Perfect for me to eat (or should I say graze on) all day :teeth:

What are you all doing today?

Today, I am doing absolutly nothing!!! :flower: On my side of the family, it has always been tradition for us to nothing on New Year Day - my mom said it was our day off from everything!!! So....I'm currently making some cinnamon rolls to eat downstairs with my coffee while watching Playhouse Disney with Katie. Then I'm going to put on my comfy sweatpants and watch movies with the girls all day. It's going to be a nice relaxing day!!!! :goodvibes

She did sleep in her bed all night, but she had a very hard time adjusting to it. It took her about an hour to fall asleep :earseek: She stayed up to midnight last night and she literally fell asleep the minute her head hit the pillow - no problems last night. We'll see what happens tonight

Kevin works for a company that makes parts for Toyota and Hyundai so the Hyundai is a good choice ;)

I'm glad you and your family were able to see him. Please keep up posted on how he is doing.

How's the lice situation? Hopefully not out of control - not a good way to start 2006 for you :guilty:

Well, my cinnamon rolls are done and Katie needs a new diaper. I'll talk to you soon and have a good day everyone!!!

Happy New Year!!!

slo - I got up and made Mickey pancakes for the kids! We don't have much planned. We are going to a friends house (my best friend who married a FF) so James can start learning to shoot his gun! After that we are going to eat seafood - whole family - to see my nephew on his last day in town. Of course seafood abounds here!

Ok - so does anyone have easy instructions on how & where I can get a ticker? Help!!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Hope everyone has a very happy and safe 2006!

DH was able to make it home shortly after 11 last night and stay through the stroke of midnight! :cool1: Then he got called back at about 12:02! But at least he was home to see it become 2006 and I got my New Years kiss!

No big plans here for New Year's Day. I think I'm going to take slo's advice and not do much of anything, probably a few loads of laundry in between tv shows, I can handle that much at least! :teeth:

I go back to work tomorrow. I have only worked one day out of the past two weeks so it's going to be hard to get back into the routine of work. Plus I have decided to get back into ebay so I'm going to be devoting quite a bit of time to that at first.

The kids go back to school Tuesday and they're ready for it. I think we all miss that daily routine a little.

Have a great day everyone!

If you click the link on mine, it'll bring you to the website. There are three different HTML codes that you can cut and past into your signature. I think the middle one worked for this type of message board, but I'm not positive.

Do what I did and use process of elimination - try each one and preview your signature. Keep doing it, until you see your ticker appear.

I'm doing a little late night Dising tonight!!! :flower:

So.....what did you all do today?

I relaxed like I said I would and Stephanie and I watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I was really expecting to not like it (because I love the original) but I ended up liking it quite a bit. I was very pleased with how it was not a direct copy of the original, and how there was some history about Willy Wonkas character.

Idroveallnight - Mickey pancakes, yummy!!!!! :goodvibes How did James do with his new gun today?

eeyoresmountainpals - I'm glad to hear that your DH made it home in time to ring in the New Year. Because Kevin had some alcoholic beverages he didn't go on any calls last night, which I was glad about. He went on so many Christmas Eve and Christmas Day that it was his turn to stay home.

Am_I_There_Yet - Hi!!! :wave2:

Take a look at my new ticker everyone!!! Kevin booked our 2006 vacation today :cool1: and I'm so excited!!! We are returning back to The Poly in September and it's going to be great!!!

Well, I'm off to bed everyone before I turn into a pumpkin. Talk to you all tomorrow!!!

am I there yet - Thank you!!! I now have a ticker!!!!

slo - James did a great job with shooting. It must be some sort of gene. He hit the target everytime. His father was most proud!!

eeyore - glad you are back!!

Glad to hear that James did a good job :)
So, when are they going to go on their first hunt?

slo - unfortunately Jim isn't in a hunting club & we don't own a bunch of land so he will have to schedule with some friends. One of his good friends (retired FF) has a house on a bunch of land. He will hopefully be able to schedule with him in the next week or so! My husband always wants to know why WDW won't develop some hunting program for all their deer! He'd go EVERY year then!! :rotfl: I have wondered how they control the deer population though. They must do something or they would be overrun. That is always one of our favorite activities on the monorail and buses - looking for wildlife!
