Calling all Fireman wives!!!

Great thread! I just thought I would post to this thread because I am not a "fireman wife", but I am a "fireman mom"! My son is almost sixteen and has been a cadet on our local volunteer fire department since he was 14. I am so proud of him! He has found his passion in the fire department. We are always running when that pager goes off to get him to the department. Whether he is helping at a spaghetti dinner or washing trucks on a Friday night to get ready for a parade the next day - his heart is at that department. He hopes to make this his career someday, but for now being a volunteer has kept him very busy and responsible! It is a great program for his age.

That is great about your son being a cadet on volunteer FD Does he actually go on fire calls or does he respond to the station only? I was just wondering if he could actually go on calls at 16 years of age. What he is doing is absolutly great!! Keep us posted on how he is doing - I've never known a young cadet and we would be very interested in hearing how he is doing on the FD over time.

Thank you, and.....YES......he does go on all the calls. He responds by going to the fire department and if there is room on the truck then he goes - no matter what the call is. If there is no room left on the truck then he stays at the fire department (as back up) until everyone is released. He is not, however, allowed to enter a burning building. If he responds to a structure fire, he can go, but he has to stay at the truck and take orders from his superiors!

The guys on the department on the best role models he could possibly have. They really watch out for him and at the same time they know that they can trust him to stay within his limits.

Hey Slo not a thing going on here but we are still looking for a new house . Ours has a buyer but we wont be moving till summer time after Derick gets out of school . So we will be moving i guess in the late summer .

The shoe tying princess is doing great, thank you for asking. She is "special person" this week at school and we made a collage of pictures showing her life to take to school today. She is so thrilled about being "special person". She has been talking about this since the first week of school. She loves, and I mean loves, to be the center of attention.

So where are you looking for a house?? Are you staying in town, or are you looking in a different town?? That's great you have a buyer for your house - you have half the battle done.

BabyKatie had to get a cast yesterday because she dislocated her elbow. She is going to be in this cast for 3 1/2 weeks.

Oh My I hope she is ok... When Derick was 2 he broke his arm at the elbo and had this tiny little cast . We still have it .

All is well on this end except we still have not found the perfect house . We want to live by our Country Club but nothing without a pool yet

We wont do a pool again ever ! I also want it to be gated so people cant come in unless we let them in . With our luck someone in the neighborhood will be a salesperson anyway and let all thier friends in to try to sell me the paper anyway LOL

Any plans for the weekend ? DH is on shift starting in the morning so the dog and I will have the WHOLE bed !!

It's good to see you guys!! How have you all been??? Things are going great here. DH is at Officers Training all day today and will be gone all next week too. This class is really tiring for hime, but he really wanted to do it.

How are your kids?? Mine are doing great. Kate has adjusted really well to her cast and she acts like she doesn't even have one one. Stephanie is having some really proud moments at gymnastics - she has done a cartwheel on the balance beam and has done a round-off dismount off the balance beam. She is so proud, she got some ribbons for her accomplishments.

Outside of these things, there is not to much else going on. I'll talk to you later!!

Spring break is next week for us...I am running to Tampa to pick up our new dog..it is a Mini Pincher...my friend can't keep it because of allergies so we are going to take it.

Also, my DH's dept had a big happening yesterday....This same apartment complex had a building destroyed about 6 months ago.

Hi Girls
We're back from another Cheer competition. My girls came home with 4 1st place wins. It is a good year so far. It is pretty quiet until 4/2 when we compete in Niagara Falls. My DH and DS are going camping this weekend with the boyscouts. Us girls are going to go to the mall. It will be relaxing. I can't wait until the snow is gone and it finally warms up. Whats going on with everyone.
