I'm going to be at the World in 12 days. I finally made my ADR's a few weeks ago.

I wasn't sure I even wanted to make ADR's, because we're more of a "fly by the seat of our pants" kind of family, that doesn't really like schedules (as you can probably tell by my tag).

But alas, I heeded the advice of my fellow DIS'ers, and made the ADR's.

My predicament is this: I'm wondering if I've overdone the ADR's. You know, being on too tight of a schedule. I'd like for you experts to take a look and give me your opinion. Is it too much? Are we going to be busy eating and not enjoying the parks/attractions/shows?

We're staying at WL, so we made ressies for Whispering Canyon at 8:05 pm our first night. This way we can eat and then head right to the room, knowing that we'll be tired from our travelling.

Monday: Lunch at Coral Reef @ 2 pm
Dinner at Mayan Grill @ 8 pm
Tuesday: Breakfast at Tusker House @ 8 am
Dinner Spirit of Aloha @ 8 pm
Wednesday: Lunch at 50's Prime Time @ 1:30
Dinner at Artists Point @ 8 pm
Thursday: Dinner at Shula's @ 8:45 pm - leaving the kids w/Kids Nite Out
Friday: Dinner at Concourse @ 7:50 pm
Saturday: Last day, so no ressies. I figure we'll be too busy doing last minute things, no telling which park we'll be at.

So honestly, what do you think?

We made ressies for all our meals last year and it was a great break in the day to get a rest (we were there in September when it was 94 or 95 every day, plus the humidity). I think what you have sounds perfect.

Other than lunch and dinner being somewhat close on Monday, I think you did just fine!!

For my family, one TS meal a day is enough. We don't eat that many big meals at home so two big meals in one day is just a waste of time and money for us. Plus, we don't like that much of a schedule--with one TS ADR, I am only scheduling a portion of our day and no one feels locked into anything. Our plans can change according to our moods.

If you don't like a set scheduale then I'd probably knock off a few ADR's or limit it to one a day.

FTR, we are a fly by the seat family too. I will do a max of 3 ADR's & even that is pushing it. I am only doing 2 for our 9 day trip in August.

Good job...one less thing to think about while you are thtere and no last minute discussions

Thanks for all the opinions everyone.

I'm thinking of cutting out a couple of things. Still not sure, though.

I told my hubby a few weeks ago that it's really hard to get into good restaurants, so he'd better pick a couple that he wants.

Which is where these restaurants came from. He couldn't decide specifically which ones he wanted, so I ended up making ressies for all of them.

Okay, you wanted opinions, here they are :rolleyes1

Lunch at Coral reef, one of my favorites! The seafood bisque is one of the best I have ever tasted! I had the chicken with jasmine rice and DH had the NY Sirloin...so yummy!

Lunch at the 50's cafe, we did the same thing. It was good food and the theme was great. I got yelled at though by a server for fooling around with the ketchup bottle... DH thought that was pretty funny. Our waitress kept hitting DH because of his elbows on the table, and caought him when he tried to hide the veggies under his fried chicked. She then spoon fed him the rest by making train noises...hilarious!

We are like you... very do what we want when we want it. I only did one ADR per day, for a couple of reasons. 1.) to save money. We are not doing the dining package, and one sit down meal a day is enough for us. We are eating BF in the hotel, and grabbing a quick lunch or dinner, depending on the ADR. 2.) The waiting will take up much of your time if you have too many places to be. 3.) Who knows what time your fast pass times will be.

Jennie, thanks. Those are two things I really wanted to do.

Surfergirl, I'm like you. Last time we were there, we had 1 ADR for the entire week, and everything turned out fine. We ate when we wanted, where we wanted, and it didn't interfere with our park hopping, or fast passes, or swim time. I feel kind of boxed in from this schedule thing.

So, do you think that I should keep the ADR's, and if it seems like we're having too much fun where we are, we can just call and cancel earlier that day?

First of all, I love your username - very cute. Secondly, are you on the DxDDP or the regular DDP? If you're not on the Deluxe, I would definetely cut back to one ADR a day.

We were just there week before last and we had dinner ADR's late for every night but didn't plan anything for during the day. We just find that it's too much food to eat that much every day and we are happy grabbing a salad somewhere when we get hungry at the parks. The parks were not crowded so it was easy to get food during the day; the evenings were a lot more crowded and I was glad to have those ADR's. I'm looking at the day you are going to 50s PT and then doing Artiste Point for dinner. Those meals at 50's are huge. Don't spoil your dinner because the meal you will get at Artiste Point will be worth it!!!

I would pick which one you want to go to more, and stick to one a day, but that's just me. Do what suits you best. YOu can always cancel them the day before.

We just ate at 50's last Tuesday and were totally shocked at the portions. They were very small compared to the way they used to be. We have eaten there at least 4 times in the past and the portions were so large we were always unable to finish our meal. Now we could have asked for seconds.

I don't think I would drop any ADRs just yet.....sleep on it for awhile. You may regret it later.
