Calling all DisMommies (and Daddy's)that use Video Editing Software!!

Hi All,

I just got a Sony Handycam (DCR-DVD610) for Christmas, so I can record all of the special moments of my children. So far I have figured out how to use the camcorder...

My problem is in choosing the video editing software. I thought I would download the trial version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 before I bought it, and I am so glad I did because I can't figure out how to do anything with it!!

Does anyone use a simple video editing software that produces nice results? I would sure like your opinions and guidance!!

I thought I would be able to figure it out, but I spent sometime yesterday and was still lost.

I thought I would post this under the families, because I think the photography board might be too advanced for me!

So if anyone can suggest some easy software to try, I would greatly appreciate it. Our next trip is in September 2009, so I would have some time to learn..

I think the "easiest" video editing software is Windows Movie Maker 2. The only problem with that software is the problems I have had trying to edit videos from my Sony Handycam DCR-DVD201.

I ended up buying Nero 8 Ultra. It's not as easy, but I really like all the features that come with the software. I picked it up for about $50 a while ago.

I think Nero also has a trial version available for download. I think I may try it also. Thank you for your suggestion.

I tried to use the Windows Movie Maker and I was not able to retrieve my video from my camera. I don't know what the problem was, but it wouldn't let me.

Does anyone else have some other software they recommend?
