I am wanting to buy a Dutch oven. Here is an example of what I am looking for:

This is from the Williams-Sonoma catalogue. Needless to say, it is expensive. The cheapest is a 3 1/2 quart for $150. I DO NOT want to spend that much money on one so I went looking for one this weekend. I tried places like Linens and Things, Wal-Mart, and such. No luck.

Does anyone know where I can find these? And at an affordable price.

Also, does anyone cook with Dutch ovens like these and have comments? I have a non-stick soup pot but want to try something different. Thanks!!!

:disrocks:

You could try all cast iron -- I think Lodge makes them or you can find them used on e-Bay. I have a cast iron four quart 'antique' by Griswold that I use a lot for stews, pot roast, etc. Plus, you get the benefit of the iron in your food.

I got mine at an estate sale here on the Cape for $4. It looks new!
Do you have an estate sales in your area, they are pretty popular here on the Cape. I go to them once in a while and it seems I always find something great for a low price. I got a vacuume (brand new, it had a screw missing so the lady never used it) for $5 for my son to take to college. I could go on and on about the treasures I've found! I don't think I'd pay $150 for one though, I don't use it as much as I thought I would.

try QVC. They have several listed.

Don't know if you have a Marshalls or TJ Maxx in your ares but I purchased this dutch oven on their clearence racks for $55 plus I also purchased an oval one for #50. I check weekly to see what on clearence, get some great buys.

Yes I love this dutch oven, it awesome.

Martha Stewart has her own version of this in different sizes at K-Mart. I think
they are around $35.00.

I'll second the Amazon vote. I've bought some Calphalon from Amazon at 80% off. You can find some great deals in kitchenware if you look.

I've seen a lot on ebay too.

I was going to suggest a cast iron dutch oven. I have a 4 qt and I love it. I also use mine for deep frying also...which this helped to create the natural non stick.

Already so many great idea's from all the poster's. What about trying E-Bay. I hope you find one. ;)

That's not what I call a dutch oven, ifyouknowwhatImean... :rotfl:

Actually, I have one, not quite as fancy as that one, and I use it contantly, moreso than any other pot or pan in the kitchen. It was a great investment.

It's not dirty or anything! Just a practical joke that most guys have done to their SO at one time or another. I'll PM it to you if you want...

There are a few on line sites that often have sales on Le Crueset. Do NOT pay top dollar at Williams-Sonoma.

Also, Marshalls and TJ Maxx will both carry Le Crueset pieces here and there but you have to check all the time.

This is very nice cookware and the folks on another site I visit (cookinglight.com) swear by this stuff.

I sometimes see them discounted at either TJ Maxx or Marshall's, if you have one near you, you might want to try that before paying full price.

What about Costco and BJ's, if you have a membership, try there as well.

Yep, I second that. Much cheaper and works great... ain't all nice and pretty, tho. ;)

Is that what a dutch oven is? I have 2 sets of those stored in my basement. they go on the stovetop and in the oven, right, even the lid?

Whenever a recipe says, in dutch oven... now, I can pull mine out. I even went looking for one at a big department store (kitchen section)one time and they couldn't help me. To think I've had one all along.
