Hey everyone, I just booked a trip to CR for this Christmas. :santa: We will be celebrating our 7th anniversary. Please tell me what makes the CR special to you.

the only resort where you can WALK to the MK.

that is a big one for me.

that say I don't like the Mk view - I like the Bay Lake side - much prettier.

except while the fireworks are going off.

it is under construction - so it is not as nice as it normally is right now.

forgot - love the restuarants - both Chef Mickey's and Concourse steakhouse are favorites of mind.

The Contemporary holds alot of memories for us. Our first stay was there in 1077, always north garden wing, sad that its gone now, and we've stayed there many a time. Our 39th trip is in 19 more days and through the years we've graduated to try other resorts. We like the convenience of a monorail resort but through the years, its outpriced itself. We did have some stays at the Poly in the past but again, price wise we feel its not worth it. Our favorite now is WL, ammenities galore, deluxe, off the beaten path but still only a boat ride away from monorail access. We visit CR alot and are going to have a reunion trip when we get a super discount off rack. With the changes through the years, most not to our liking, moving gameroom, cutting size down of same, removing the movie theatre from the gameroom, changing the restarants, we used to love the Pueblo Room and not too keen on their pool, hunk of concrete out in the open, not much themeing there but its unique A frame and monorail running through it, plus the walk to the MK is fantastic, can't help but to like the resort, just don't care for the price, in the late 70's early 80's, rack rate was 75 bucks a night, big money then.

Yeah, the many ways of getting to the parks from CR was a big draw for us. Thanks, keep it coming!!!

Walking to the Magic Kingdom, seeing the Monorail go by, ridding the Monorail anytime I want, the amaizing shops, friendly Cast Members, the Magic Kingdom View from the Tower rooms, Chef Mickey's, Concourse Steakhouse, California Grill, Food & Fun Center and the Atrium Club Level floor.

Yes, I shall be mourning the loss of the Food and Fun Center when I'm there in December, and ultimately, the loss of the Concourse Steakhouse next spring.

Although a lot of people think it's not as Disneyfied as some resorts, I don't feel that way. It's supposed to be all clean lines and modern looking. I think it's theme fits perfectly. I love being able to walk to MK, especially during the holidays when MNSSHP and MVMCP are going on. It's such a treat to not have to wait for transportation. I like the easy access to WL, Poly, and GF, for shopping and dining. I like staying in the wing and having the parking close by. I like to book the standard view so I can watch the monorails go by the room.

CR was our first Disney resort (there was only the Poly and FW besides CR) and we've had many great stays over the years.

:thumbsup2 Views of MK & fireworks
:wizard: Being an elevator ride away from Chef Mickey's
:woohoo: The great gift shops
:cutie: The tile mural on the wall of the elevator by Mary Blair (she also designed It's A Small World)
:flower3: The wonderful conceirge service at the front desk for standard rooms
:beach: The Mickey shaped pool and the pool by the lake
::MickeyMo The modern Mickey hat metal scuplture by the pools to take pictures by

Enjoy !

:goodvibes Thank you for your responses. Will the gift shops be affected by the changes going on at CR? Unfortunately we are not getting a room with a Magic Kingdom room. Would we be able to still see the fireworks from the grounds?

definitely - just go to the exit facing the MK. if you still can't see - just down to the 4th floor for the public viewing.

I happen to love Bay Lake (the other side not facing the MK) views.

you can see EWP from your room.

WE LOVE CR and will be there in just 9 days:

-you can't beat the walk to the MK:woohoo:

-watching Wishes from your balcony

-watching Wishes from your bed:love:

-the big waterslide and the pool overlooking Bay Lake with the marina

-the monorail

-CA Grill for dinner and Chef Mickey's for breakfast

-and that gorgeous room decor!!!

"Unfortunately we are not getting a room with a Magic Kingdom room. Would we be able to still see the fireworks from the grounds?"

Our CR room was on the 5th floor - Our balcony was not on the lake side.
If you looked down we saw the top of the convention center and the front driveway entrance with the 'lollipop' pine trees. Our room was on the Chef Mickey's side of CR.

But if you looked out staright across from our balcony you saw MK and the fireworks.:wizard:

Every tower room has a fireworks view. Not to worry !

I too miss the north garden wing. I stayed there with my DS's back in May 05. We had an MK view. The front desk CM walked us to our room, we left our bags and headed off to MK. At the end of the evening we walked back. It's the best part of staying there outside of the Wishes view.

The Bay View Gifts store (B.V.G.) is staying where it is and as of right now in the middle of the 4th floor, they are building a brand new store that is going to replace the old Fantasia store. I have a picture of it and others from the Contemporary which I will be posting sometime on Sunday once my family and I arrive back home to Toronto.

sorry but they don't.

the lake side view - Bay lake does not look out on the MK so no fireworks.

You do get a view of EWP but no fireworks.

the front side (can be the parking lot) and Seven Seas Lagoon are the MK view.

The best thing to do if you are staying in a Tower Bay Lake View and want to watch Wishes, is to go to the 4th floor observation deck and see them from there.

Im 19 days away too! And I'm at the CR MK view! We will be n our honeymoon too. So I'm glad to know that we made the right choice to stay on the MK view side!
