Need ideas for upcoming birthday party for adult. So far I'm making antipasto pasta salad (which she loves) and mussels steamed in wine. I need help with the main course. I want something easy but also special - if there is such a thing. I was thinking seafood but I'm drawing a blank. Can't do lobster because someone else is doing lobster a couple weeks later. This will include about 10 people.::jumping1:

How about scallops wraped in bacon. That's the first thing I thought of.

Encrust tuna in pepper and grill it. Whole fillet mignon encrusted with garlic paste in the oven as an alternative.

Sugar snap peas

Mesclun salad

Fresh Italian bread

Fresh fruit with whipped cream.

Ooooooohhhh.... I'm coming to YOUR house for dinner. What kind of wine can I bring?;)

I alway like to serve teriyaki marinated pork tenderloins for dinner when I have guests. They are very tasty, easy to grill, easy to prepare. And they don't cost an arm and a leg.. Just DON'T over cook them!!:p

hmmmm food:) my favorite:) ( cooked)..lol... hmmmmm seafood,, grilled salmon is ok,, if you have time and energy to grill,, around here a seafood meal would include deap fried catfish, shrimp and boiled crawfish,, but that isnt exactly what folks in your area call it,,lol,, for 10 pppl if it was me we would be serving grilled marinated pork loin, ribs(with a secret recipee home made from scratch bbq sauce) smoked sausages, bbq beans, grilled potatoe salad, tossed garden salad and fresh home made yeast bread rolls,,( isnt it great when husbands take over the kitchen) since i got to be this nice unemployed disabled one eyed bum scrounging off my wifes hard labor:) all the drs will realease me to do is light house work and cooking. We eat a lot better. Ive learned to cook all sorts of stuff and really expanded the menu ( and my waist line, but thats aseperate area code i mean post entirely) for a non sea food main course,, try a garlic and onion stuffed pork loin, oven roasted with potatos and carrots and or stuffed roasted chicken breast( get boneless and stuff with chopped garlic onion and carrots, slow roast in oven with a honey lemon glaze...)

sounds good so far .....anymore suggestions? I need something to jump out at me and go "Holy Cow" that sounds good!:earseek:

Shish kebabs

I did some with neighbors last month that had chicken, shrimp and scallops on them. We skewered them with cherry tomato, mushrooms, red green and yellow peppers and pearl onions. I have a great marinade that I can give you the recipe for (It's really a vinagrette from Justin Wilson).

I served them over rice that had been infused with the same vinagrette and grilled asparagus. The asparagus gets rubbed with olive oil and put under the broiler with a little bit of kosher salt on it.

The prep is the most time consuming, but still goes fairly quick. You can make them a day ahead and leave them in the marinade.

Ummm how about a shrimp or seafood scampi or fettucine? Don't eat seafood but can make these!

Ooooh, Winniedapooh - that sounds great!

For easy, I'd choose "peel & eat" shrimp. That's our favorite here! But for the "wow factor" I'd do Paella.

If you don't mind grilling, something that has always gone over extremely well with our guests (Disney freaks or not) is to marinate steak using the recipe from Boma. Mmmmm, that's good! :teeth:

Y'all are making me hungry!!:D :D

Salmon in a Butter/Dill sauce...easy!

Salmon filets
White sauce (saute butter/ add flour, milk, salt and pepper)
Spoon over salmon in a glass 9x12 pan -spray some pam on it for easy!! clean up
Place a sprig of dill on top of each filet...
Cover with foil, bake...impress!!!

you can do it all ahead and refrigerate

Add some Rosemary Roasted potatoes (toss sliced potatoes in olive oil, s&p, rosemary, and bake)

Crusty bread, and a fesh summer slad...something with a raspberry vinaigrette...the red looks pretty with the pink salmon...

Although the rosemary and dill may not be a great combo...whatever!! enjoy the party!!

looks like Salmon may be the way to go. :p I actually thought about the seafood fettucine and the paella but since she already requested the antipasto pasta, I didn't think that went. The Shrimp Scampi sounds like a good choice too in case anyone doesn't like Salmon. Thanks everyone.

if anyone still has suggestions, I'd love to hear them for future meals.
