Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Johnsprincess- You have gotten some great suggestions. How about some theater? Also, one of my fave Chicago restaurants is The Italian Village. If you are venturing out of the city a bit, check out Brookfield Zoo. Have a great trip!

Oooh we both Love the theater!! Didn't think of that either! The Italian Village...yum!!
Thank you!!

Michigan ave was loads of stores. Neiman Marcus, Saks,Bloomingdale's, American girl, Nordstrom,

Michigan Ave is also know as the Mag mile Magnificent mile

Marshal Fields (aka Macy's) is on State St. You should try to go to Millenium park They have set up a ice skating rink there.

Yesterday watched them wheel my DH away to the psychiatric floor, as he had a look of confusion, fear, and hopelessness. Right now I am desperately trying to climb out of a dark, and cloudy place. Can't think straight. Can't sleep. Can't stop crying. I want my life back to the way it was before Thanksgiving Day.

Stitchfans Many hugs for you!:hug::hug::hug:
I've been praying for you and your family. I wish there was more I could do for you. Just know that all of us here are here for you and are hoping for the best for your family. :grouphug:

I tried to post yesterday but my computer froze up and I lost what I typed! I was too frustrated to start over! :)

We went to Old Navy yesterday afternoon to look at coats for DD.
The store was TRASHED!! Ugh! Couldn't find any thing in either the girl's or woman's section. We actually left with nothing and that has never happened to me at that store!

Our Christmas tree is up but no ornaments yet. We are going to work on that today.

And Hunter is doing better. He was really miserable on Friday but he's almost over it now.

JohnsPrincess There is a Broadway In Chicago web site, check that out for theater shows. I've stayed at the Omni Suites hotel on Michigan Ave it was quite nice. I would Priceline or Hotwire a hotel and see what you get. I would stick with a 3.5 star or higher. The American Girl store is in a large mall and there is another mall across the street. Many stores are located on Michigan Ave, you name it and it's there. I would try Lou Malnati pizza. Depending on where you stay you could go to their location on Wells or State Street. I like the location on Wells. I would go to Navy Pier, The Field Museum, The Shedd Aquarium, The Adler Planetarium. All three of these museum are right near each other.
The Art Museum is located right on Michigan Ave. Millennuim Park web site info.

irish dancerIt sounds like the parade was fun! I would have brought blankets and lots of hot chocolate! :goodvibes Of course in our family that would have meant some one would have inevitably spilled some of that hot chocolate on the blankets!!

paint Too funny about the dog snoring! Did you tell your BIL you thought that it was him? :teeth:

geffric Glad to hear Geoff is getting himself adjusted to being at school. Hope his computer back sooner.

Happy Sunday to all! And I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving!

Stitchfans-:hug::hug: and prayers to your DH and you:hug::hug::hug:

Thank you for the continuing ideas!

Have any of you heard of the Intercontinental hotel? It says it's on North Michigan Ave and a 5 star - but only about 86$ a night.

{{HUGS}} and prayers for you and your DH. I can only imagine your pain. :sad1: I hope his recovery is successful. :goodvibes

Just a stranger stopping by here for a moment.

Susan, so sorry to read that abut your hubby.'s He, you and Allison are in my prayers, hoping all works out, it will.

And hoping, as we start the end of the year here that everyone is doing well.

Tired this morning - I haven't slept since 3:30am :faint:
I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep, and then at 4:30am Stephanie woke up thinking she was going to be sick. I could tell she was serious, because she was really shaking. I guided her back to bed, gave her a bucket, and laid on the floor by her bed. I didn't go back to sleep, because I was listening for her, and laying on the floor is not comfortable :sad2:
Now I'm not sure if I should have her go to school. Part of me says yes, because she never got sick, but the other part of me doesn't want to, because I don't want her throwing up in school and being embarrassed. I just don't know what to do :confused3 I'm leaning more towards letting her stay home, but I'll see what Kevin says when he wakes up, but in the end, I have the final say, because I'm the one that she needs to be with all day.

Stitchfans - My continued thoughts and prayers are with you
May God give the doctors good direction on how to help your husband, and may God give you comfort and patience during this difficult time. How is your DD doing with all this? I will continue keeping her in my prayers too

Bunchkin - We went to Old Navy yesterday, and I got some nice things for both girls, that they won't get until Christmas. I really like this system we have going, because I know what I buy they will like and it will fit :thumbsup2
Our Old Navy was in good shape, and not very crowded, which made me happy :)

To everyone else - :wave2:

I best get going and get Ms. Katie up and going.
Have a great day today everyone!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Again, I'm so very sorry for my absence. I hope everyones Turkey Day's were wonderful. Ours was nice, had dinner by my sister's then again at Mike's parents.

Morning everyone! :wave2:

Anyone cyber shopping this morning? Not me! :teeth:

Dan Good to see you stop by! :)

slo Hope Stephanie is not getting the flu. Lauren has had some stomach issues the past couple days. Not sure if it's the flu or just over eating for the holiday!! ;) And seeing how she has not other symptoms, I'm thinking it's not the flu.

disneygal CONGRATS to you and Mike on the condo!! Wow!...a 2.5 garage! That is like unheard of for a condo. That is awesome!! I always think of houses in terms of storage space!!! LOL!

mac Thanks for all the listings! :thumbsup2

stitchfans Daily hugs for you and your family!!!:hug::hug:

:hug:Stitchfans...please know you are in my thoughts and prayers...many, many warm, gentle hugs being sent your way. Please, please feel free to PM me if you need to "talk" at all. (We lost a relative to suicide recently, it's quite a helpless, scary feeling).

Hi gang! Thanksgving was nice and relazing. My aunt sent us home with tons of leftovers. We still have some!

Stitchfans - Prayers are coming your way for you and your dh.

DG - Awesome on the condo! Congrats!

Hi to everyone else! I couldn't get on earlier today probably because of Cyber Monday.

Lori

Greetings, all...

Belated Happy Thanksgiving wishes.

Slo, I hope your daughter feels better soon, and that you get some sleep!

Bunchkin, I wanted to try Cyber Monday at the AG doll site, but it seems to have crashed, oh well. Did you do the 2 AM crazy shopping on Black Friday? I went out, but at the much more reasonable hour of about 11 AM.

Disneygal..CONGRATULATIONS on your condo! How exciting!!!!

Mac..thank you, as always, for the listings. How *are* you????

Geffric...when are you going to Disney? Got any room in your suitcase?

Hersey...have you seen the ice skating rink at Millenium Park? I can't even think of how cold it must get out there!

JohnsPrincess...when we go downtown and stay overnight, I always scope out the reviews on tripadvisor for Chicago hotels, and then I look at travelzoo and travelticker to see if there are any discounted hotel specials. We have stayed at the Affinia downtown on Michigan Avenue (they have a $99 special rate right now, not sure how long it is good for), and also the Homewood Suites, which is on Ohio off of Michigan. The Intercontinental is at one end of Michigan and most of the shopping stuff is on the other end of Michigan. I have been in the lobby and it's beautiful, but don't know about the rooms. Have fun planning!

Shout out to all...hope you are all getting into the spirit of the season!

Donna How have you been? I haven't been downtown is a long while. I was searching for tourisy stuff for when a friend comes in January and saw that.

DG Congratulations on the condo. See this one was just waiting for you two.;)

I hope this week is a better week for everyone.

Stich How are you doing? Continued prayers coming your way.

Hi guys! Only back to work/school for one day and it hardly seems like we were off. :confused3 Usual Monday around here.

DMom has been transferred to the Transitional Care unit, which is for rehab. She is mostly back to her normal self but still has a bit of confusion from time to time and now a bit of paranoia. Hopefully she'll cooperate with therapy so she can go home on schedule which is in around 2wks. She's gone one heck of a nasty scar down the front of her leg too (yuck). :scared:

Donna - good to see you around!

momto1 - we still have a bit of left over turkey, not complaining though as I love leftovers. :lovestruc

Bunchkin - no cyber shopping for me, didn't see anything that I needed at a deal.
*We did have a blanket for the parade, no hot cocoa but I don't think my kids would have had any anyway - not big fans.

disneygal - Congrats on the condo! :woohoo: I'm sure that must be a load off your mind!

slo - I hope Stephanie is feeling better, did she go to school? Hopefully you got to bed early tonight, especially since Tues is your busy/late day isn't it?

Dan - good to see you around, stop by more often! Happy Holidays!

mac - thanks for the listings. Four new shows -.

geffric - what a good Mom! When are you leaving for WDW?

:wave2: to everyone else!

Well, I think I might try and turn in early. This week is going to get increasingly busy with volleyball practice and two games, dance classes and DNiece's bday party so it might do me good to get some extra sleep. Have a great night everyone! :santa:
