Calling all Chicago DISers #3

vacationing, there for work, see family, .......

spill the beans homie.

well, if you just came back, that means you missed a lot of the nasty weather up in northern illinois.
and that is a good thing.

looks like we can yak back and forth on this thread until sandy comes back or one of the chicago homies returns to join in.

reminds me when the blues brothers said, "I'm getting the band back together".........

Hahaha, that's a good idea :)
We went for vacation, to tour the country and try out all kinds of crazy things and for the kids to learn the language. It was a blast and yes, we missed all the nasty weather and I was so happy that my plan worked perfectly!! LOL

did i read that write or was it a typo?

3 month vacation??

well, that is a nice vacation, especially when you miss winter up north...

Hahaha, yes you read it right :) 3 months we went away for :) It was spectacular and makes me love how strong the dollar was there, because next year we do a month in Europe and the dollar is terrible over there! LOL

that is so wonderful!

hope your month in europe will be without snow and you'll miss another winter up north in illinois.

No such luck on the winter, we head out in September on the Disney transatlantic cruise and then spend the rest of September and into August in Europe. I try to stay away from Chicago in the winters, but we really wanted to do the transatlantic and also not worry about our flights being cancelled due to snow! LOL

Sometimes I feel lucky to know if it's a weekday or the weekend. I work my Origami Owl business, husband works from home but travels to see his clients a lot, oldest son is in college (graduates in May), middle son is in high school and has track and works most weekends, and daughter is now home-schooled due to migraines so she seldom leaves the house without me.

Macraven - your son went to Cornell College, right? Middle son is looking there, and we will be visiting next month.

DisneyMommyMichelle - sounds like a great opportunity you are giving the kids, and missing out on the winters here is a good idea.

Being homeschooled and constantly away from home, whether it be for a long weekend away or a vacation or even just between sports, activities and doing school work at the library, my kids NEVER know what day of the week it is! LOL! They have to use a calendar, because my oldest 2 work and they need to make sure they are where they need to be, but in Mexico it was funny to hear them constantly asking what day it was!

piglet too, i have 4 sons but none went to cornell.
hard enough to send all 4 off to college.......lol

2 of mine went out of state and broke the bank for us.
university of wisconsin is where the son i talked about on the chgo thread before went to.

you wil feel like you are getting a pay raise when each kid graduates from college.
you have 2 more to go and then you can relax.

i sound like your kids
since we moved south, i never know what day it is until i read it on the dis.

michelle, i home schooled one of my sons during high school.
i can't imagine doing 3 at one time.

you are a better woman than i will ever be...

It's hard, but my older 2 are so self sufficient, it is only like homeschooling 1. The other 2 are very advanced and can figure it all out themselves with the detailed lesson plans our curriculum sends, combined with online tutorials if they need it. :) My youngest is a clown that wants to just play all day and though he gets the work done, it takes him longer than it should because he spends time doodling and chatting about random things! LOL

your youngest sounds like all 4 of mine at that age....
so many times i would get notes to come talk to the teacher....
couldn't get time off that often as i was teaching at the high school.......lol

how warm did it get for you today michelle?
i was looking online for weather back home and it looks decent now.
