Good morning everyone!! What a great weather week this is going to be!! I plan to sit outside to enjoy as much of it as I can. I feel my SAD coming on soon and don't want lose an opportunity to chase it away as long as possible.
Welcome to the Smiths. Come by and chat often. One or another of us always has a trip in the works to chat about. (some even have a finished trip we were supposed to chat about already. :rolleyes1 OK I know. I am working on it. )

Paint, I saw the family window clings in Epcot at MouseGears. So heads up to Slo or anyone else looking for those.

Congrats to all the Cubbie Fans out there. I am not a sports nut (even though I play them) for watching them on TV, but I do get excited for our hometown teams when they make it to Championships!

DMM good luck househunting. We are joining the hunt as well. I still wish DH would transfer to a job south of here, but I guess we will be looking out Slo's way.

Disneygal, Happy Birthday!! Did you have a nice party with your family yesterday?!

Bunchkin, it was great to see you Friday. I am so mad at myself though. I forgot to ask to see your new ring!! I am such a flake sometimes!
We'll have to plan another meet soon.

Okay, who's going to WDW next? I need a favor! I bought those little people stickers for the window of mycar, but I only got one dog, since we only had one at the time. Can somebody pick one up for me? They are only $4 and you can mail them in an envelope. Thanks so much! Also, I was attempting to add my new Disney stuff on the car, deciding betweenmy two new antenna toppers when I realized- hello! I DON'T have an antenna! Also, my magnetic character decoration wouldn't stick bc I think my car has too much fiberglass. Grr!
Smith's- Hi and welcome. We don't like Disney around here...we love it!
slo- Being sore after a workout always makes me feel like I've accomplished something!
hersey- Yep, the colds are stating to circulate. Dh brought one here!
id- I still can't believe you're keeping the secret. You're good!

paint, i'll be going to the motherland soon in october. i can pick up what you need. i'm happy to help.
send me a pm to describe what it is i am to buy and i will get it.

i'm not sure if you want a people car decal sticker or dog one.

i'm so blonde especially when i have not had enough coffee in me...:goodvibes

if anyone else needs something, let me know and i will do my best to get it for you.

Hi guys! What a great weekend.

Yesterday DH and I participated in the Ride Now For Autism, it is an 85mi motorcycle ride to raise money for Autism. It was GREAT! The weather was awesome and the route was so pretty. I'm not sure how many bikes were in it but last year they had 700 motorcycles ride! I feel sorry for the poor people who get stuck at an intersection by the procession, everyone seemed nice this time and a lot of people were taking pictures. They usually raise over $50,000 so it is successful.

This week and next are crunch time to get everything ready for our trip, with only the hours the kids are in school to get ready it goes fast. Only 12 more days!

disneygal - Happy Birthday!! Hope you had a day!

mac - yes, we're staying on-site at AKV. I'd love to meet up too, let me know your schedule.
*Thanks for the listings!

Hersey - all 3 of my kids are now sick with the cold. DD11 brought it home from school first and now DS8 and DD7 are hacking away. I hope it's gone by our trip.

Smiths - Welcome! Hope you come by often! I was just in your neighborhood yesterday on the Autism ride.

slo - sorry the sidewalk sale was a bust.
*Yes, I was a bit sore Saturday, mostly in my shoulders and arms from the weight machine I did. I need more work on abs and upper body, I should look into that TaeBo.
**I've seen those car window decals in WoD and MouseGears, I'll take a look while I'm down there. I can pick them up for you then if you don't want to wait for your trip.

paint - I know what you mean about the antenna toppers, I so love them but don't have an antenna either. DH has a Figment one on his motorcycle though.
*It's getting harder and harder to keep the secret as it gets closer. Not to mention more and more people are learning about it so I'm afraid one of them is going to spill the beans.

Michelle - my kids went to Cosley Zoo and Sonny Acres on field trips when they were in preschool. They loved both.

Tiggerrn - I so hear you on the SAD, just the other day DD11 asked me if I was going to buy a light box this winter......guess even she noticed last year. It seems to be getting worse for me each year so I'm going to look into the light box.
*I'll be sure to post pics when we get back. It's our first trip during this time of year so I'll have a lot!!!

OK, gotta run have tons to get done before school pick-up. Have a great day everyone!!

DMM good luck househunting. We are joining the hunt as well. I still wish DH would transfer to a job south of here, but I guess we will be looking out Slo's way.
And good luck to you!!!

This weekends open house was a disaster! hahaha!! We loved the house and its a bit further than we wanted to go, but still really pretty. The ad ays ithas neutral colors throughout....

we walk in....i'm not kidding.......

To RED carpeting and YELLOW WALLS?!!? As in Mcdonalds colors!!! Then we get into the kitchen and it's black and white diner style floor tile with avacado green appliances?!?!

We had to ask the agent if we were in the right house for the ad! hahahaha!!! It was already at the top of what I want to spend for a house and when you add in the cosmetic stuff that MUST be done right away, the roof, and the backyard fence and then to knock out some stuff in the basement...well it was just too many projects to do for me! hahaha!

I forgot to post my pics of the tees I made for the girls. Here are the two I've done:

aktee-1.jpg

halloweentee-1.jpg

I also picked up plain canvas bags I'm going to decorate for trick-or-treat bags as I've read the ones they give out this year have Wall.e on one side and the Fairies movie on the other, not realy festive. They can also use them at home for trick-or-treat.

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Thank you all for the bday wishes! it's actually today, yesterday the family got together (my dad and sister cooked) b/c it's hard for us all to get together on a weeknight. Mike got me the juicer i really wanted!!! the thing can juice 3 pounds of fuji apples in 30 seconds... it's amazing!!! He's taking me to dinner tonight to my favorite restaurant! i'm excited! :goodvibes My sister has successfully moved in! The kitchen, the boys rooms, the bathrooms and the family room are all unpacked already for the most part. she is missing some boxes but is sure they'll turn up in another room or the basement!:confused3

ID ~ those shirts are so cute and creative. you did a great job on them!! :thumbsup2

DMM ~ wow, red carpet and yellow walls. that is very mcdonalds-y!

everyone else :wave2: hope everyone has a wonderful day! it's gorgeous out! :goodvibes

I'm so excited the new fall tv shows start tonight. I need to make sure I have Boston Legal all set up. It never fails someone calls just when I finally get things done around the house and I get a little me time. Or I fall asleep :rolleyes1

DMM That reminds me of some places we looked at. One place had foil wallpaper  You needed sunglasses. Another house had the sons bedroom painted in black. Black walls, black curtains, black everywhere. Wonder what he was up too :scared:

Today was such a wonderful looking day it should have been a no work day.

:surfweb:

TTTTTiiiiiiiigern - What is SAD?
**Thanks for saying those stickers are at MouseGears - I will look for them there:thumbsup2 That is actually one of my most favorite stores on property.

Mac - Thanks for the listings!!!:)

ID - I'm so glad you had a nice day for your Ride Now for Autism :sunny:
**Thanks for asking, but I can wait until I go:)
**You did an awesome job with those shirts!!!!:goodvibes

DMM - You talking about that house brings back so many memories of houses we looked at. I came to the conclusion, that if a house makes me do this:eek: the second I walk in the door, it's not for me:rotfl:

DG - I hope you had a nice birthday dinner. Where did you go?

HERSEY - We DVR our shows too ::yes:: We especially like to do it, so we can start watching it a little later than the start time, so we can zip through the commercials :thumbsup2

Well, I'm going to try and workout this morning.
I didn't sleep much again last night, because Sophie is under the weather, and I was keeping an ear open for her.

Have a good day!!!

hahaha, thanks for the laugh you guys! It's so true how many scary houses there are! Esp. since we want to buy in a neighborhood that is pretty old!! Let's just say that some of the houses still have the original 70s look to them! hahahhaah, oh well, the price we pay for wanting this neighborhood so bad :)

:flower3: Morning all. I am beginning the big trippie. I will try to do it on the TR board and link it in my siggie if I can figure out how to do that.
Otherwise, look in the TR for "We Made It To the Beach Club-for my Chicago Area Disers"
Slo, SAD is Seasonal Affective Disorder. It is thought to be due to lack of light (sunlight) that occurs in the winter time. Some psychologists recommend light boxes to patients to help the disorder not get to you. But it causes depression. I think it is a combo of loss of ability to do things outdoors (excluding rake, shovel, etc....)as well as cold weather. I just hate winter time. Fall and Spring are OK, but fall just brings on the winter dreads.:rotfl: Which is why I usually plan a WDW vacation in Oct/Nov. But with the kids getting older, it is too hard to do. Kellie would be lost in school if she missed much. Kyle would be fine. He's smart and catches on to anything easily. But I cannot go without them. (unless I kept it a secret :rolleyes1 )
DMM, I can remember looking at houses 17 years ago trying to stay within our $100,000 budget.:rotfl2: :lmao: Can you imagine what you would get for that now?!!!!!! We saw some really bad fixer-uppers.
Well, I am off to walk my dog and do some :laundy: and work on the TR today. Hope to have the first installment up by lunchtime.:flower3:

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3:

Slo ~ we went to Cooper's Hawk. It's a winery/restaurant and is fabulous. we did a tasting before dinner, 8 wines for $7. i was a little tipsy by dinner time.... oops. but it was very nice. then his parents and sister got me a cake! it was also very delicious!

sorry this needs to be short, i have quite a bit of work to do! have a wonderful day! :wave2:

Happy Tuesday everyone!! :wave2:

I've had a busy few days and not able to come by and read and catch up till today.

My weekend run-down:
Friday was DH's b-day! Went to the movies in the morning with Tiggerrn and saw Ghost Town. And it was DD's first Girl Scout troop meeting of the school year. I'm the cookie parent this year, for 2 troops that the leader runs.

Saturday was a total cleaning day here in the morning and then I went to a Tupperware party at the neighbors. Made a roast in the crock pot! YUM-O!!

Sunday we got up early and went out to Starved Rock State Park. Had a ressie for their Sunday brunch buffet. Totally yumalichious!! Did a lot of hiking/trail walking after that. Went to the vistor's center, which was really neat and informative.
It is still flooded in the area to one side of the visitors center. Their whole parking lot is under water BIG TIME!! It's such a shame! :sad2: The boat dock was under water too. You could see how the water rose up to the top steps of the visitor center as there was left over mud dried every where. The city of Utica, as we drove through it, was hit hard. Lots of businesses had their doors open trying to dry out from the flood. People were power watching the mud away and there was piles of trash on the curbs-items just ruined from the flood. We felt so sorry for them all, but the good thing was that there was just TONS of people who came to the area and spent their money there!! The whole park and town were packed with people!!! We also went to the LaSalle historical museum while we were there.

This weekend is a big Pow-Wow at Naper Settlement! Anyone going to this? Should be lots of fun!
We will be going, not sure Sat or Sun though.

slo Sorry no one came to your side walk sale. BUMMER!! :guilty: If I had checked in here this weekend, I would have drove out for a visit!:goodvibes
Can't wait to see the girl's pics!! They always come out so cute!! :cutie:

Tiggerrn I'll be looking for that TR!!! :yay:
I realized after I got home I didn't show you my ring....even DH asked if I had shown it off! Obviously, I'm not much of a show-off!!! :rotfl2:

Hersey Sure the cat knocked over it's box!! ;)
Sorry to hear Alex has already gotten sick. We've already had the notices sent home about MRSA and pink eye and strep.....etc. These sick kids need to stay HOME!!

disneygalHAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!! :cake:
Sorry I missed saying that earlier!! Glad you had a great dinner out!!
That juicer sounds heavy duty!!! How old are you?

irish dancer Great shirts for the girls!! And your bags will be great for T or T!!
Do you have space in your house to start packing and hide the suitcases?
Congrats to your DD's team!

momto1 Did you start packing yet?
Congrats to your son!!

DMM That house sounds crazy!!!
When DD was a baby and we were looking for a house, we went to a new builder in the area to look at their models. One of them was totally PURPLE!!! Purple walls, carpet, etc. GROSS!!!
I can laugh about it now and think that there should have been a sign up that said "Welcome to the 90's!!!".

Smiths :welcome: to the Chicago Thread!!!

Hi to all!! :wave2:

Need to change the kid's sheets and then vac upstairs!! FUN FUN FUN!!!

Ciao!! :flower3:

Evening all. Just wanted to let you know the TR is underway. Can anyone tell me how to put the link in my siggie for you? Otherwise you can just look in the TR board and find my shout out to you all.
Hope you enjoy it. Day one is done.

Wow! How did I just now find this thread for Chicagoans??? :lmao:

My name's Lori and my fiance (Adam) and I live on the north edge of the city. We're still dealing with floody water in our basement and love the Cubs :) In fact, we made the trek to Milwaukee a few Sundays ago to witness Zambrano's no-hitter (sat by first base, just a few rows from the field. Got some GREAT pics).

We're on our way to WDW in 7 days. We'll be staying at BWV for 8 days and 7 nights. While we are there, we'll be doing F&W Festival, Lunch with an Imagineer, MNSSHP and parasailing at the Contemporary. It's our 3rd trip to WDW together since we've been dating :lovestruc

Just wanted to say hello to everyone in Chicagoland ;)

I just found this thread too! :goodvibes

My DBF and I have been dating for six years, although we've been best friends for over ten years. We love Disney, and our next trip (fourth trip together, my 24th trip, etc.) is just a few weeks away!

Nice to hear from the different DIS members in this area. Chicago is a great city, and no matter where I travel in the world, I'm proud to live here. :wizard:

Look forward to getting to know you!

Hooray!!!! We have more new people!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:
Welcome to sarcasticblonde (SB for short) and Princess Monkey (PM for short) :welcome: Please come by often and visit - we would love to get to know you both!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Today is going to be a long day.
Sophie is still not well, so I have to take her to the vet early this morning, and then I have to go straight to work, and be there until 7pm. I really hate knowing that my little Sophie is not well:guilty: So we'll see what the vet says.

DMM - I figured the neighborhood was old when you said there is a church in the middle of the subdivision. We have some old neighborhoods like that around here too. I love them actually!!!! The houses are just awesome, and I love the church in the middle - there's something so great about it!!!!

TTTTiiiigggggern - As soon as I read what SAD was, I was like "Oh yeah - I know what that is." I think I get a little of that too, but not until February. I do hate the winter too, and when Kevin and I retire, I would have no issues with moving somewhere warmer:sad2:
**I can hardly wait to read your TR :yay:
To do the link, just go to your TR, and copy the address at the top. Then hit the globe, and paste what you copied in that. This should do it for you. I"m not a very good explainer of these type of things, so if you have any other questions, please let me know.

DG - I"m glad you had a nice bday dinner!!!:goodvibes

Mac - :wave2:

Bunchkin - Sounds like you had a nice weekend:goodvibes Tell Tony that I said Happy Birthday :cake:
**Can you PM me your new email address again - I don't have it. Then I will email you the girls pictures :)

Well, it's time for me to jump in the shower and get going. I need to make sure I'm at the vets early, so when they open at 9am, I'm the first one there. I asked if they would take an appointment, so I can be first, because I had to be at work by 10am, and they said, "NO" So I want to be there by 8:40am and just wait - what a pain!!!!

Have a good day!!!
