Hi everyone, I've been staying away for a bit because i'm a bit sad. The surgery did not bring back Romans hearing, so he had tubes put in for nothing :( We're not sure if we're ready to keep going through this right now. we are so tempted to let it ride until he gets a bit older and can tell us what he can and can't hear. Hope you all have a good weekend.

dmm I'm sorry to hear that the tubes put in Roman's ears have not helped.

disneygal Oh, that's right....it's just you and your BF! :) With being there a short time you probably will be going crazy trying to squeeze everything in! But you'll have fun doing it!!
We can't vacation like that any more!! Not with kids in tow!!
I like any movie with Natalie Portman in it! Have you seen V for Vendetta with her? Oh I love that movie!

DMM ~ I am so sorry. I am here if you ever have any questions or need someone to talk to. I got hearing aids when I was 3, just about a year after I lost my hearing initially.

Good Friday Afternoon Everyone!

Phew, it is good to finally get on-line. DD6 has been complaining on and off for a couple of days that she "doesn't feel good", even stayed inside during recess at school yesterday :scared1: . Came down this morning complaining her throat hurt when she tried to swallow soooo....since strep has been going around her class and with vaca next week I called the Ped to get her in. Well, it's not her throat but it is her ears - both of them :sad2: . At least the MD prescribed pills, my kids are the absolute WORST at taking liquid medicine  .

DMM - so sorry to hear the tubes didn't help. How frustrating...

Bunchkin - haven't seen Mr. Magorium but the kids have wanted to so DH picked-up that along with Bee Movie as a suprise for the car trip next week. Now I just have to keep them from finding them :rolleyes1 .

slo - here is my Soda Bread recipie. Since I'm home with sick DD looks like we get to eat the Soda Bread I baked for DSs class. Oh darn  .

Irish Soda Bread
3 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/3 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 cups buttermilk
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 cup raisins* (dark or golden - we use dark)
*I usually rinse my raisins in a bit of warm water to plump them

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease a 9x5 loaf pan. Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and baking soda. Blend egg and buttermilk together and add all at once to the flour mixture. Mix just until moistened. Stir in butter. Add raisins and mix. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 65 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the bread comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Wrap in foil for several hours, or overnight, for best flavor.

Enjoy! (tastes great with a bit of butter)

Well, off to give DD her first dose of meds. Have a great day everyone!

Hi gang! Where is everybody? Enjoying this fabulous weather, I hope.

DMM - Hugs to you for little Roman. You sound like a great mom and will do whatever is best for him. Take a deep breath and some time to regroup. We are here for you!

Slo - I don't work downtown but near downtown. I work in Cicero in a 3 story office building. I have big windows where I can see the skyline, though.

Bunchkin - I know about the money! I just shelled out $46 dollars for track fees and a track shirt. He probably doesn't need the tshirt but we didn't buy one during cross country. So...

Anybody making corned beef and cabbage this weekend? I am making it on Sunday since Monday is just going to be way to crazy to cook that meal. I am looking forward to it. Yummy!

Heading to the Hearts at Home Conference in Bloomington tomorrow. It will be good to see my df and to get recharged. But..I have to leave by 6:15 am and I am not an early riser! I am really looking forward to the day.

If you have a taste for $1 hot dog and pop and in the Plainfield area on Sunday, head to Strack and Von Till in Plainfield on Rt 59. DH and I will be selling for ds baseball team fundraiser. I would love to meet you!

Have a great weekend!
Lori

I had a really good day yesterday:)
I shopped at the mall for about 4 hours, and I spent way to much money:rolleyes: I bought everything for the girls Easter Baskets, a gift for my nieghbors new baby, and the baby's big sister, some new dresses for Katie, and dress coats for both girls. It was a very successful shopping day :thumbsup2 I also had a nice quiet lunch in the food court, and then on the way home, I got a Dairy Queen ice cream cone:goodvibes The nicest part of the day, was being able to drive home with my sunroof open - it was wonderful!!! :sunny:

Bunchkin - I agree with not wanting to the toys that don't get played with ::yes:: Each of the girls, this year, are getting a DVD, a stuffed item, a book, jewelry, hair items, candy, and some other misc items. I really didn't do toys, because I agree how they don't get played with after a few days. The stuffed items that I got were a Handy Manney for Katie (she loves him:) ) and an adorable German Shepherd puppy (Nintendogs (sp?) ) for Stephanie (it reminded me of our German Shepherd when he was a baby, and STephanie still misses him). I hope the dog doesn't stir up saddness on Easter, but I thought it would be a nice thing for her:goodvibes

DG - JC Penney is having their "sweet sale" where you unwrap a candy bar to see how much savings you get:goodvibes . It's a fun little sale that they've had for a couple of year now. Have fun shopping!!!

DMM - I'm so sorry to hear that tubes aren't helping little Roman  It's hard to understand now why this is happening, but I'm sure God has great things planned for him that requires his hearing to not get fixed. I will keep you all in my prayers:angel: and I'm sure you'll see in the future, why this is happening (I hope you don't mind me getting a little religious, but I do believe that God has plans for all of us, even if they are something we don't understand at the time). Also, whenever you need to talk, please remember we are always here for you:grouphug:

piglet - How is Nathan feeling? Is he still feeling better?

ID - Thanks for the soda bread receipe. I'll have to try it!!! :)
**I'm sorry your DD isn't feeling well:guilty: I'll send mountains of PD to have her feel better soon:wizard: :wizard: and to not feel sick over vacation.

momto1 - Thanks for the hot dog invite, but we are going to my inlaws for cornbeef and cabbage:) I hope you all sell tons of hot dogs!!:wizard:

Well, I gotta get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!!

We are off to see Alton today. I will bring the camera and see what kind of pictures we get.

I have a feeling today is going to be a lot of hurry up & wait. We can't get our tickets until 9:30. The doors to the lecture hall open at 10 BUT he doesn't start talking until 11 and it's first come, first serve for seating -- which you know means we have to show up as close to 10 as possible to get anything decent. At least we know we will have a seat, it's just a matter of if we will have to split up or what. I'm not looking forward to sitting around for an hour waiting for the talk to start.

I did a quick double check last night since they changed the website around to just know my times and see that they put up there that the lecture is geared toward Adults, Grades 9-12. OOPS!!! So my 5th & 8th graders are going! Although it's so nearly the end of school it could be counted as 9th grade. I'm not too worried, I think they will do fine but that wasn't on there when they first announced tickets (or if it was I spaced out).

THEN...the fun part...I wasn't even thinking that today is the St. Patrick's Day parade downtown. EEK!!!! Driving is going to be fun as it looks like the parade goes right though part of how we get to Lake Shore Drive to get to the museum, so hopefully we are early enough before they block the street or anything. I'm sure it will be well over before we plan on heading home.

Off to wake up the littliest one and then head on out to drop them over at the Grandparents.

Slo ~ Nathan is all better, thanks for asking.

Becky ~ Have fun today. I look forward to hearing how it went 'cause Alton is cool. Hope the traffic is not too bad.

Today is Pinewood Derby day, I'll post pictures of Nathan and his car later.

Tomorrow is D&D for Dewain and Kevin, so it should be a slow morning. I may take the younger two to Dunkin Donuts for a morning treat.

Monday, Lauren goes to get her hearing checked again. I am taking her to an audiologist out of Loyola. When I finally talked to her pede, he was kinda :confused3 as to why the ENT did not set some sort of follow up plan.

Happy Saturday Everyone!!!
Got to sleep in this morning. All of us did!! :goodvibes

slo Your Easter basket items sound good. And I'm sure Steph will love the stuffed German Shepard.
I was thinking along the same as you. Movie, Webzinz, books, maybe a new Gamecube or DS game, cd's, and maybe some Disney Dollars. I have these plastic bunny carrots that have removable little lids where the stem of the carrot would be that I stuff the Disney Dollars, or even cash, into.
I haven't started shopping yet, but plan to soon.

Bunchkin - I know about the money! I just shelled out $46 dollars for track fees and a track shirt. He probably doesn't need the tshirt but we didn't buy one during cross country. So...

If you have a taste for $1 hot dog and pop and in the Plainfield area on Sunday, head to Strack and Von Till in Plainfield on Rt 59. DH and I will be selling for ds baseball team fundraiser. I would love to meet you!

Don't you love all the fees!!!
I just shelled out more for Girl Scouts last night.

My DH and I have friends that live in Plainfield and shop at Strack and Von! I'll mention in to them! Their son plays on the high school baseball team.
Good luck with the hot dog sale!!!
We're going shopping in Bolingbrook tomorrow so we won't be able to stop by.

Bunchkin - haven't seen Mr. Magorium but the kids have wanted to so DH picked-up that along with Bee Movie as a suprise for the car trip next week. Now I just have to keep them from finding them :rolleyes1 .

I buy movies and hide them before every trip too! But I have good hiding places and a strict rule about the kids going into my bedroom without asking first. :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear your DD is not feeling well. Hope the meds help.
Your soda bread recipe sounds good. I haven't had any in quite a long time.

piglet Good luck with Lauren's appt with the audiologist!!!
I thought it was weird too that the ENT had nothing else to tell you to do.
Hope Nathan has fun at the Derby! :)

Becky I don't recall the MSI web site saying anything about an specific age for the event either. :confused3
Hope you have a great time!! :)

Got an email I wanted to share!

Bath & Body Works
Trial Sizes are on sale 4 for $10

I can never have too many of these for vacations!

Afternoon all!!
Went to the Frosty Fliks today at Marcus. Legend of the Water Horse was showing. It was really good. Glad we got to see 1 of these.
DMM, So sorry the tubes weren't the answer to your prayers.
Bunchkin and Slo, I am with you on the junk toys from EB. Our baskets this year will contain a Webkinz, DS games, a little candy, and some books. Star Wars books for DS and Disney Fairy books for DD. And if I make it to the Disney Store, some Disney Dollars as well.
Looks like DH is definately not going along to WDW in August. His loss. Great resort I have booked. My niece and her DH want to come along, so we should have a great time. They are park enthusiasts. Love it!!!
What happened to the nice weather we were having?
To everyone else out there, hello. Hope you are all having a great weekend. Sounds like many of you have some fun things to do this weekend. We have soccer and ballet, as usual.:rolleyes1
Later all.

Hi all-
I haven't been here in days and haven't had much time to read up on everyone, sorry :guilty:
My life has been crazy, busy the past couple of weeks :scared:

Update on my dad. He has been in and out of the hospital the past couple of weeks. He had his emergency surgery on removal of his spleen and bowel resection a couple of weeks back. He had gone back in hospital earlier this week for blood clots. Now he is back home recuperating.

Chrissy was sick earlier this week with a double ear infection. She had this yellow gook coming out of her ear at school on Tues. Took her to sick appt and diagnosed with the ear infection. On her favorite(it really is her favorite) liquid Amoxicillin. She is doing 100% better now.

Been also busy buying decorations for the cubScouts BLue and Gold luncheon for tomorrow. Matthew crosses- over to Boy Scouts tomorrow!
Matthew and DH are at the Districts Pinewood Derby right now. I guess they just finished racing and waiting for results.

DMM- so sorry about Roman's hearing  I will pray for him and for you and your DH. I'm sure it is pretty hard to deal with all this

momto1- I have been to a Hearts at Home conference a few yrs back, when it was in the Chicago area. Maybe 8, 9 yrs ago? I haven't been to one since, as they don't have any in the immediate Chicago area anymore.
Have a good time at the conference :thumbsup2

Hi guys! Sounds like everyone is having a pretty good weekend.

DD6 is doing great (thanks everyone for the well wishes).

Busy day today, DD6 had ballet then it was the St. Pat's parade in town. DD11, DD6 and I bundled up in our Irish sweaters and braved the cold (DH and DS7 opted to stay home). This is the first time I've ever watched a St. Pat's parade, have always been in them for dance so it was wierd to sit and watch. We then went to lunch with DSis.

Met a friend at Stir Crazy in Oak Brook Mall for dinner and to discuss all things Disney. She is taking her family in May for their first trip (she went as a kid). I think they'll have a great time, she's done a great job researching and studying on the internet. Did a little shopping after dinner with no kids in tow, what a joy.

Tomorrow will be more quiet, only have church and dinner at the in-laws.

Hope everyone has a great evening.

DG - JC Penney is having their "sweet sale" where you unwrap a candy bar to see how much savings you get:goodvibes . It's a fun little sale that they've had for a couple of year now. Have fun shopping!!!

Thanks for this, I went to JCP and got 10% off. :goodvibes I got a pair of jeans and some shorts and capris that are baggy and comfy, mostly to wear to WDW. I can never have too many of those!

I also went to Victoria's Secret to look for a bra. I'm seriously hitting desperation point. The kind I've been wearing hasn't been made for a while, so I've got like 3 or 4 that I've been wearing forever, and they're really about to fall apart. So I was finally like, I just have to try something. I haven't been able to find something I like for the longest time. Everything is either push-up, stretchy, or flimsy. :confused3 But I finally found one to try today. Hopefully I'll like it! (Sorry, guys, I know it's TMI, but the ladies will understand.)

I also got my hair cut, so now I can see past my bangs again! :rotfl: It's been a while.

Everyone have a great rest of the weekend! :cheer2:

Busy day! After being at the derby all day, we took the kids to dinner and a movie. "Horton" was great, and looking forward to getting the DVD.

Nathan won "Best Scout Theme" and was very happy about that. Not the greatest pictures, but here you go.

Good morning! It looks like it might be a sunny day today. If it stays sunny I may actually feel like doing stuff around the house. With all the snow melting my yard looks like a garbage dump.

piglet too Nathan looks like he was having fun.

geffric Hopefully Geoff will come around. Being 1 1/2 hours away would be good for him. Not too close not too far. College is so different. Some of my coworkers who have kids at college, say their kids are having homesickness issues.

Well I better get moving before I wimp out.

:surfweb:

Today is going to be a pretty relaxing day:) .
We are going to hang out at home, until 3pm, and then we are going to my inlaws for dinner. My FIL is making corn beef and cabbage for St. Patricks Day. I like corned beef, but not cabbage, so I'll need to choke that down. Oh well, I've eatin worse:upsidedow

I have to say though, this is our 3rd weekend w/o getting a pizza, and I'm going into pizza withdrawl. I love my pizza!!!! Next weekend we won't get it either, because it's Easter. Before I know it, it's going to be April, and I went a whole month w/o pizza - I don't think that's ever happened before:laughing:

Becky - How was Alton yesterday?

piglet - Great picture of Nathan!!!!!!
He looks so happy, and a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to him!!:cheer2:

Bunchkin - Oh man!!!! You mentioning Disney Dollars made me realize that I forgot to get some at the mall Friday :headache: I knew I was leaving there w/o something!!!!! Thanks for reminding me, so I can run back there sometime before Easter:)
*Your gifts sound great too ::yes::
Does Lauren still believe in the Easter Bunny? Stephanie claims she still does, but I don't know :scratchin. If she doesn't, she's being a great actress!!!

Tiggggernnnnnnnnn - I'm sorry your DH is not going along to WDW:guilty: Does he not enjoy going? Or does he have to stay behind because of work? I gathering by you saying, "his loss" that it's because he doesn't want to go. I can't remember what resort you are staying at - where is it?

Rose - I'm sorry about all the stress you are having right now:guilty: I'll keep your dad in my prayers:angel: , and I'm glad Chrissy is doing better. How did Matthew do at Pinewood Derby?

geffric - I'm glad Geoff liked the college. Did you like it? Would you like him to go there?
*I'm sorry to hear about the kids attitude - it does wear on your nerves!!! I hope that gets better soon:wizard: Stephanie is starting to get an attitude, and I have a hard time dealing with it sometimes, and when I think it will get worse, it makes me do this:headache: :headache: All I can say, is God Bless my mother for dealing with me, now I know how she felt ::yes::

Mac - Good luck to your local team!!! :wizard:

ID - I'm glad your DD is feeling better :)
*I've never been to Oak Brook mall, and I would like to go sometime. It's outside right? Do they have a Disney Store? I need to try and go this summer.

Leigh - I do understand about the bra thing ::yes:: I'm very particular on what type of bra I wear, and it took me forever to find what I like. I do wear a style from Victoria Secret, but I can't remember what it's called. I did get fitted there too, and that made a big difference on how things fit too. I thought about looking into those Platex 48 bras, because those are suppossed to be comfortable, but when I'm actually out shopping, I forget

HERSEY - Good luck with getting things done around the house today:wizard: If I weren't going to my inlaws, I would tackle another closet, but I don't want to get involved with something, and then have to leave. So I guess I will just veg out instead :teeth:

Well, I gotta run and start thinking about breakfast. I think we are going to have scrambled eggs w/ Velveeta cheese and French Toast sticks:goodvibes This is one of my favorite breakfasts:thumbsup2

Have a good day today everyone!!

Hi!! :wave2:

traces Dinner at AGP usually has a decent selection to choose from. the standard kids selections they offer: chicken fingers, pizza, and the mini hotdog/hamburger combo or pasta. Then for the adults usually a chicken dish, large salad dish, possibly a fish, possibly a beef dish, and a pasta dish. And depending on how late the store closes, if you linger in the store you could be one of the last to leave. And it's so nice there when it's all quiet and empty!! :)
We went to the AG benefit sale last summer. We went twice on Sat. I had a 7:30 ticket for myself, and then all of us went back at 11:15. It worked out great. And I had read a lot about what goes on at the sale ahead of time so I knew to really look over the things we bought first! :thumbsup2
Are you going this year?

I will probably go to the AG sale again this year on Sunday though (like I did last year). Probably just to buy books and accessories. I told DD 2 AG dolls were enough. Are you going? What else do you need to look for when you buy from this sale? Just in case we do buy another doll. (I know now to look at the hair!)
Only 10 days til our Chicago trip! :cool1:
