Calling all "bigger" people (Mummy ride)

I recently read somewhere that said this about the Mummy ride....

The seats are tight. (Four rows of four). The harness comes down over your lap and will fit tightly. We have read that extra-large guests may experience a problem sitting in these seats and may not be able to ride.

My husband and I are of the "bigger" persuation, if you will..... we will be going with his sister and her husband (who are of normal size) I'm just wondering if any of you who are bigger got to experience this ride? I don't want to stand in line forever and get up there and realize I don't fit. My hubby will probably want to ride also, he's 5'10" about 250 lbs. Me, let's just say....I'm 5'3" and bigger than him....I've had no problems over at Disney the last time I went but haven't been to Universal in about 6yrs.

Could someone help me out on this one? And are there any other "tight" rides that I should know about?

Thanks for helping out on this embarrasing question......

Sorry I can't help too much with this, but I wanted to let you know that there are test seats outside in front of the Mummy that you will be able to try before waiting in line at all. If you are too snug in the test seat, you will probably not want to waste your time standing in line, as the bar has to come down to a certain level before they allow everyone to ride. If you're not sure, there is always an attendant in front of the ride, who I'm sure would give you his/her opinion as to whether you can ride. Unfortunately, I have been witness to TMs trying to discreetly tell some guests that they are unable to ride because the bar will not come down far enough to secure them, and those guests have been made to leave the ride. It can be an awkward situation.

My sister is planning on going down in April. Her husband is about the same size as yours so I can let you know what they say. She is pooh size also so if you don't get any answers I can let you know.

Hi,

About a year ago I went to Universal. I was 5'4 and about 280lbs. Yes, the Mummy ride is a very tight ride and I was uncomfortable and nervous about fitting but I did. By the hair of my chinny chin chin. I definately would try the seat out in front. I wish I had before getting on the ride.

I am 5"8 and about 20 pounds lighter than your husband, and I can tell you that I fit very comfortably into the Mummy seats. My Uncle is 5'8 and 285 pounds and he also fits. And as someone else said, there are test seats for you to try it out before even getting in line. Of course, you can ask one of the attendants outside and they will try to help you out without making you feel uncomfortable.

Also, I heard that on the rollercoasters at IOA, there is usually a row or a few seats that offer a little bit more room so you can always ask the attendant about this.

My son is 6` 1" and weights 265 pounds, and he has no problem riding the mummy over and over again.

He does complain everytime he rides doctor dooms fearfall ride. When he goes all the way up, he always bumps his head against the top of the seat.

I think all the rollercoaster rides should have testing seats for people to test outside before entering the ride, even though the testing seat is not moving up or down.:teacher:

I believe it is the 3rd and 6th rows on the rollercoasters. They are larger and have 2 straps coming down from the harness instead of 1. My DH is 6' and 289 and he doesn't have any trouble on the mummy.

They have modified seating in the third and sixth rows on every coaster except for Ice on Dueling Dragons. I think that one is just on the 3rd.
You two will be fine on Mummy...its just a lap harness.

Hi we were there in April 04. We were some of the first people to test it out. If you were lucky enough to walk by at the right time you could try it. My son is 6ft 3 inches tall 245 and it was a tight fit . They didn't have a test seat out at the time. Have fun!:scratchin

I'm 6'6 about 240, my biggest thing would be a complaint about the leg harness because of my height issue, it's always been very tight on me but I've never not been able to ride the thing, unlike Jurassic Park's river adventure which I've ridden in the past but recently because of how long my darn legs are wasn't able to ride this past trip.

Have an awesome trip!
