Calling all ATLANTIS experts!

Hello:

My family and friends (11 total) will be taking the 4-night wonder cruise this Spring. We're wondering how/if you are identified if you have a room at Atlantis or at the Comfort Suites. I'm guessing that you have a stamp or an armband. We're just trying to figure out if we can all use 1 or maybe 2 rooms. The cheapest rate so far is $200/night at the Comfort Suites. We heard about getting "day rooms" at Atlantis, but it's going to be a pretty crowded week, and we don't want to take any chances. Any advice you experts have would be greatly appreciated!

In order to use the pool facilities and tour the aquarium, Atlantis (and Comfort Suites) guests must present their current resort identification at any of the many towel huts scattered around the property. Staff will then issue a wrist band with the color of the day. The wristband must be shown to the lifeguard at each waterslide and to the pool attendents who monitor use of the lounge chairs.

Because you are a party of eleven (and don't want to take any chances), you will need to reserve 3 rooms to ensure evryone gets a wristband.

If you only wish to visit the casino, browse the stores, or snap a few pictures, that only costs the $4/person cab fare each way from the pier.

unless you plan on using the slides i wouldn't waste my money on getting a room just to see the aquarium....it's no big deal....

by the way, if you're gamblers, you might try calling atlantis and asking if they have gambler's rates....

also...a word of warning...that $200 rate probably does not include taxes (which are quite high and add quite a bit to the rate)..
also, the rate does not include children over 15 i think it is...so you have to pay another $45 i think it was for children in the room over that age...

we were there on the 5th of july (ie 4th of july weekend - both hotels were packed)......for the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 teenagers) we paid, including taxes) either $245 or $265 (i don't recall).....
my kids really enjoyed the pools and slides, but think carefully if it's worth it to you....and by the way, the comfort suites is just this side of a hell hole in my opinion.......we didn't actually use the room....we could barely stand walking through the hall to get to the door that leads to the atlantis...

if we go again, i'll take a room at the atlantis.....

my friend and I had a room there a couple of weeks ago for the day. In my opinion, it was not worth the money. That is our thougts anyway...

Thanks! Anyone else have an opinion? It's too bad Disney can't negotiate for DCL to use the pools and slides. Do you need the writstbands to sit on their beach?

I am not 100 percent sure, but I think that you do need the wristbands to sit on their beaches. The day we went no swimming was allowed because the water was too choppy.

We rented a room at the Comfort in Nov 2001 and walked to Atlantis. They made you put on an armband & they checked you to get on the slides. We had a hard time finding the entrance to the Comfort Inn (cabbie dropped us at Atlantis with a bunch of other people) The place looked a little rough & was in the middle of renovations. They couldnt even check us in at the front desk (lots of construction). They had us go to a lobby and check in at a table & chairs (newly renovated lobby) and our room looked like it had been renovated as well. We had a terrible view of the parking lot, but hey we werent there for the room anyway!! We used the facilities, the kids changed into their suits & we walked over to Atlantis. We got a rate of $155+tax. All I can tell you book through someone you can cancel w/o penalty and then just keep checking the rates. We were very pleased with what we did & loved the atmosphere of the Atlantis resort, but it will depend on what your budget is & what you are expecting to do. I agree, the aquarium was ok, but not the best I have ever been to. But the overall experience was worth it for us. The waterslides are great (especially the one that shoots you thru the shark tank!!) Our family of 4 spent less than we would to go to a disney park. Hope this helps.
