HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! :wave2: I hope everyone had a good time last night. We had to go to a wedding. :groom: :bride: It was OK. It is something everyone will be talking about for years to come....that's for sure!

Darlene--how is Sandra feeling? Poor thing. I know how she feels. As a child, I spent many a night in the hospital with asthma attacks. I finally grew out of them...for the most part.

Bev & Lyn--I can't imagine paying so much for car insurance. Boy I thought our bill was high. We pay $1500 a year total for 3 cars with full coverage. It's amazing the price difference, and we all don't live that far away from each other!

Jennifer

Good morning and Happy January 1, 2005 from sunny and warm Florida!!! We are going up to near 80 today with plenty of sunshine!!!

I fell asleep last night on the living room floor waiting to watch the ball drop in Times Square. I woke up at 12:10am and saw Hazwl sound asleep on the couch. We both got and up and crawled into bed.

I got up this morning, fixed my tea, and sat on the back door step enjoying the warm sunshine. Hazel and I just finished breakfast and will be heading into town for a while.

Take Care All!!!

Andy: I hope you and Hazel have a fabulous trip.

Darlene: I sincerely hope this year brings your family a whole lot of health. I can't imagine how scary and stressful that asthma attack was. My oldest son had asthma when he was a baby but has pretty much out grown it thankfully, but I know it is scary.

Bev: Wow I thought PA insurance was supposed to be cheaper than NJ. To help bring the insurance down we put Matt on the oldest car and hope for the best. He is still insured on all the cars. If he got a policy on his own I guess it would be around $5000 per year. His girlfriend is paying $2400 just for liability on an 1996 Cavalier. We need insurance reform.

Jennifer: Now that is an insurance bill that I could take would you like to switch?

Terri: Are you feeling ok today from drinking all those Orange Dreams? :drinking1

Happy New Year everyone. We can now say our cruise is next year.

Lyn :grouphug: :flower1: :Pinkbounc :wave2:

Happy New Year All - We had a nice day yesterday - Saw Disney On Ice - Finding Nemo. I agree with you Darlene - the costumes were excellent. Courtney loved it. Then last night we went to my friends house for a party but came home before midnight. I dont like to be out after midnight with all the partiers.

Darlene - my kids love that Build a Bear stuff too. They each got $50 GC's for Xmas from my aunt and you know they had me there on the 26th picking stuff out for them.

I hope Sandy is feeling better. I had asthma as a child and remember what a horrible feeling it is not to be able to catch your breath and the many times I had to go to the ER for a shot of adrenaline. Thankfully I also grew out of it.

Lyn - thats a really nice car Matt got.. Tell him we all wish him good luck with it - he must be so excited!!!

Andy, Im jealous.. I wish we had 80 degree temps.. but its not too bad here today.

Ginny

2005

Glad to see some of us checking in safe and sound from the New Year celebrations.

Thanks for telling me that some of you have outgrown asthma. "Scary" sure does describe an attack. Sandy is resting today, coughing, and using the neb. I ran into the ER with her bundled in PJ's and monkey slippers with Stan 15 minutes behind me. Remnants of being a single mom...make a decision and do what I have to do...follow me if you can!

Best Wishes to Matt with his new car. I like the car. And he is still cute! NJ car insurance costs are the worst :faint: . God Bless you all with teenage boys to insure. Been there, done that, empathize.

Andy...glad the FL weather is sunny and warm. :smooth: Enjoy!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! :thewave:

Darlene

Hi everyone

Just popping in to wish all my friends near and far a VERY VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Hope you are all well.

:rockband: HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

Matt...Congrats on the new car. Drive safe and if you have to ask yourself, should I? "DON'T"

Darlene...Thank God Sandy is doing better. Asthma is a scary thing.

Terry...I like your analogy, next year we cruise :Pinkbounc

Doreen...We went up to Willow Valley Resort in Lancaster, PA. I must say, I was very impressed, they threw a very nice family NYE party. They don't have a liquor license, so you have to bring your own. We have gone up to Willow Valley in the summer only and NYE was just even better.
You can check it out at www.willowvalley.com

Andy...Go ahead, warm weather, Rub it in. If you get a chance stop by Avalon Park, that is where I want to live. I can't wait for your point of view of the Wonder and sailing for 4 days.

Hi Joanna,

This is a four day cruise, but it is the Magic not the Wonder that we will be sailing on. This four day sailing is to get the Magic back to it's Saturday schedule, that's why we chose this cruise. I already have a feeling the four day is going to seem so short after only being on two seven day cruises.

We had yet another BEAUTIFUL day here in central Florida.

Andy

Hi everyone :wave2:

lyn: Congrats on Matt's new car!! I know what you mean about insurance... Craig has a car and will be getting his license soon, so we need to insure the car, but the price is outrageous. Over $2000. just for liability. :faint:
I only made it through 1 1/2 (that's equal to 3/4 of the pitcherful) glassfuls of the Orange Dreams. LOL They're kind of filling, and they were making me drowsy so I dumped the rest out. lol

Darlene: How is Sandy feeling today? My DS Craig has asthma, and my sister has very severe asthma, so I know how scary it is :( I hope she's feeling much better by now.

Joanna: I'm glad you had fun at the resort in PA. It looks like a great place for a family get-away. :)

Andy: Have a wonderful cruise!! :boat:

Bev: I'm not sure how to tell you to share the pics. Hmm...do you know how to send them in email?? Are they already on your hard drive??

Hi Sue: How's the weather over there across the pond these days? :)

I'm wondering along with Darlene: Where is Mary Rose? Were they going away for the holidays??? :confused3 :scratchin

If anyone has Carmen's number and calls her, please post here and let us know or e mail me or PM me. Thanks, I'm very concerned.

Bobby and Cindy, I got your Christmas Card back, it said insufficient address. Same address I sent other mail to. I'll talk to you soon

Joanna

I had Mary Rose's cell phone number, but it was in my PM list, which is now gone. Wish I had written it down. I lost a lot of good info when they changed the site. My own fault, they did warn us.

Sandy is still coughing. She had a temp this evening, so I guess she is not going to school tomorrow. We will call the doc in the morning. She spent most of the day sitting on my lap. Have her in bed now and hope to get there myself...so I'll say goodnight.

Joanna, so glad you had a good time at Willow Valley. I have been there for a retreat and for a wedding. Both times were wonderful. Can you still swim from the inside pool to the outside pool? It was so neat to watch people swimming in the snow!

Darlene

Darlene...WOW Sandy still has a fever. I hope she starts feeling better soon. They had the outdoor pool winterized now. But it has changed over the years and for the better. They now have a water park for the kids. 2 indoor pools and an outdoor pool.

Let us know how Sandy makes out at the doctor tomorrow. Samantha has winter allergies and after she went to lighthouse in December on a field trip, she was choking so hard she couldn't catch her breath, after taking her to the doctor, I realized that when she goes out into cold air she coughs (I should say chokes) terribly. Then I started her on the Zyrtec and she improved immediately. The doctor said she had a bad post nasal drip.

Don't get me started on ER visits.. We had our share here too. Last Monday night we had to go for JACLYN. She wanted to got to NY city so bad but had a terrible KIDNEY infection. So off to the ER we went and got home at 1145 pm... come today at the ORTHOPEDIC for her knees... we realize the ALEVE he put her on a month ago caused the KIDNEY PAIN...

fast forward to WEDNESDAY night...DANIEL wakes up with CHEST PAIN.. yes 11 yrs old and chest pain.. being the ER nurse I was.. I think the worse.. And of course I was dead tired I too thougt like a croup thing and have him breath the cold air.. well now its a burning sensation.. so off to the ER again...
They think I am abusing my kids.. The ER say its nothing in an 11 yr old to have chest pain.. well.. Repeat the next night again.. CHEST PAIN...
Finally, I call my doctor on FRIDAY and get a DX of GASTRIC REFLUX...
finally some sleep to be had... Today, I get an appointment for a GI series.. Poor BABY....

DARLENE...I do hope SANDY is feeling better now... The warm weather mixed with miled cold weather is the cause.

We have 45* here and no snow in sight at all.
Lynn.. I told JACLYN about MATTS car.. she said " Mom, how can he fit inside with the MOHAWK"?

Ok its off to work I go.. have a great day everyone...
Doreen :grouphug:

Hi Guys

Just popping in to say hello, before I get my things ready for going back to work tomorrow after the new years break. Vicki does not go back to school until Wednesday, lucky girl can have another late lay in bed tomorrow. Just dropped her and a friend to the local cinema, they are gone to see a new film with Jim Carey in, not sure what's its called.

Has anybosy heared yet from Mary Rose?

Darlene: So Sorry to hear Sandy is still not well, hope she is feeling better soon.

Doreen: Hope Jaclyn and Daniel are feeling better.

Joanna: Glad you had a good time on NYE.

Lyn: Matts car looks great, I remember when I had my first new car, well it was only 4 years ago as I passed my driving test 1st time at the tender age of 38, but I feel as though I have been driving for years.

Terry: Weather over here not to bad at the moment, lovley and sunny today but with a low of 38 degrees so quite nippy.

Andy: Enjoy the cruise my friend, whats the itinery for this one?

To anybody I may have missed, I hope you are all well.

I had a lovley Christmas and New Year and I also post a lot on the UK dis boards, I joined in their Daily Quiz in December and guess what, I was one of the joint winners. The person who hosts it then sends out a small gift to the top three and I won a pair of Minnie Socks, a Pooh pen, a Mickey calender and some chocolate coins. First thing I have ever won on a quiz and I was delighted.

Speak soon, Take care

Sue

We leave Tuesday, will be in Nassua on Wednesday, Castaway Cay on Thursday, day at sea on Friday, and back to Port Canaveral on Saturday, we fly home Saturday afternoon.

We have had one thing happen after another so far on this trip, I won't bore you with all the details, but if you haven't heard, I went to turn the hot water off after getting a shower Saturday night, and the hot water knob broke off in my hand. Luckily, I had the water almost all the way off when the knob broke. On Sunday Hazel and I made our third trip to Walmart since arriving here on Friday evening. I should take stock in that store, LOL!!! Anyhow we bought my mom a new bathtub spicket set, and we found a handyman in the area that came this morning and installed it for us. I would have done it, but my mom didn't have any tools around here to work with. I was expecting to pay at least $100.00 minimum, but the man only charged us $65.00 to install the spickets. I called my mom when he was finished to let her know it was completed, and she just laughed and said, "Add it to my tab." That's a joke between my mom and I.

Anyhow, I just got back from dropping Hazel off at the hairdresser, Hazel wanted to get a perm before we leave tomorrow morning for the cruise. We will probably be leaving my mom's place around 8am tomorrow for our drive down to the port area where we will be dropping our rental car off at Budget, then take the Budget shuttle to the DCL terminal. I will be so glad to get on that ship and "RELAX" for the next four days, oh how I wish it was a 7 day cruise now!!! LOL!!!

Andy

Well, it sounds like most of us made it through the holidays intact. I intended to keep up with this site while I was off work, but R & R ended up taking priority (and I really needed it).

Darlene - Sorry to hear about the health problems in your house. Here's hoping that Sandy and Stan are back on their feet soon. (I'll keep my fingers crossed for the drain staying out of Stan permanently!)

Doreen - After the cruise it was you falling apart, but now it's the kids, huh? Have you considered buying stock in the medical industry? LOL I hope that you are all felling better soon.

Lyn - Nice car! I didn't get my first car until I was 25. I have to agree about car insurance. I think that some reforms need to be made as well. The one that gets me, is the discount for married drivers. I understand their rationale, although I don't agree with it.They think a married person has family responsibilities that would prompt them to be more careful behind the wheel. However, I have never been married and I find it highly insulting that a 20-something with no kids that has been driving for less than 5 years gets a break on their rates just because they were foolish enough to get married at such a young age. Don't you think that the break in rates should be given for being 'parents' rather than for being 'married'? (Also, quit scaring me guys! Devin will be old enough to get a learner's permit in about 3 years. I don't want to think about the cost of insuring him. I guess that I better start saving now!)

Terry - Too bad I wasn't around. I would have helped you finish off your pitcher of drinks. (Just what is in an Orange Dream? Sounds interesting...) We've been fortunate weatherwise around here. I hasn't been too cold (until the last couple of days) and we've had several days of rain (like that's unusual around here). We never get a white Christmas. Sigh!

Sue - Another day off? Lucky! (Of course, I shouldn't complain... I just had 2 weeks off. Although I got to start my morning back with a 2 hour conference call - Oh, joy!)

Andy - I'm sooo jealous! I was freezing last night and couldn't get my feet to warm up for anything. I guess that they were trying to tell me to go visit someplace warm. Enjoy the trip! (By the way, those blue shoes were something else!)

Lucy - I haven't seen you out here lately. Are you still around? How's it going? Did you guys have a good Christmas?

Everyone Else - I hope that your holidays were joyful. Now it's time to see if we have the willpower to stick to our New Year resolutions!

I spent a good share of my time over the holidays being lazy - sleeping late, watching movies, reading books, etc. (No, I didn't get any more work done on the t-shirts yet.) It was great. I really needed the break.

Devin and I took my Mom to see the Lion King on stage and out to dinner for her Christmas present from us. The play was wonderful. It was hard to believe that the kids playing young Simba And Nala are only 11 years old. The costumes and the set were spectacular! Devin loved it. (I think that I have him hooked on theater now - yea!) We ended up meeting up with one of my best friends (Devin's godfather) for dinner. He wanted a chance to see my Mom before he took off to see his own mom in Florida for the holidays.

Well, I guess that I better get back to work... lunchtime is about over.

Dori :badpc:

Hey, DORI, glad to hear you got some good R&R. Sounds like a dream to me...sleeping, movies, reading books...good for you.

You know, when I was growing up we were not allowed to be sick. I know that sounds like a joke, but really, we were not ALLOWED to be sick. A cup of tea and a nap cured everything, and ginger-ale was medicinal.

I guess that is one of the reasons I have such a hard time with illness. We took Sandy to the pediatrician this morning who told me that I should have called her yesterday (Sunday). She said that Sandy has bronchitis as well as being in an asthma episode. Great! So, she is now on a new med for the nebulyzer, an antibiotic, carbofed, and fever reducer. She is out of school until at least Thurs. Good thing she is a good student, hopefully she won't fall behind after already having almost a week and a half off. Poor thing is still coughing. The only good thing about Stan still being in recovery is that he is home and Sandy can stay with him. My 2 patients!!!

DOREEN - I hope Daniel is feeling better. Has he had the gastric reflux problem before or is this new? Is Jaclyn feeling better? Will she always react to ALEVE like that? I recently saw something on the side effects of ALEVE. Is there something she can take in its place? My goodness, we have to pull these kids together! They are falling apart before our very eyes!LOL

SUE - Congrats on winning the quiz. That sounds like a lot of fun. Have a good day back at work tomorrow!

ANDY - Bon Voyage, buddy!

JOANNA - Sandy takes Singulair and Nasonex. She has problems with cold air, too. Another good reason to move to FLORIDA!!!!!!!

MARY ROSE - Where are you???

Darlene
