In 2005, the dock space was listed from May 1, 2005 until September 15, 2005 but the Magic left LA on August 20, 2005. I think they have the extra time so DCL can get the port ready before the ship arrives, and then has it until the middle of September to give them time to clear all their stuff out.

The dock space for 2008 is also May 1, 2008 until September 15, 2008.

Oooohhh i would really think about doing a repo if it doesn't cost a fortune.

To me, all signs now point towards an exact repeat of the previous Mexico Itinerary.

When you reference the newly discovered information against DCL’s 2005 West Coast cruises, the information is almost identical for two repositioning cruises and 12 Mexico cruises…take a look

2005
Building Rental Period - May 1, 2005 to September 15, 2005
Passenger Fees: $182,416.00 @ $4.00 per person (embark and debark) = 22,802 passengers
Westbound Repositioning May 14 to May 28, 2005
12 Trips to Mexico
Eastbound Repositioning August 20 to September 3, 2005

When you take the total number of proposed passengers (22,802) and divide by 13 cruises (12 to Mexico where the guest is double billed for embark and debark and one repo cruise in each direction where the guest is single billed for either embark or debark) you arrive at Disney’s theoretical double capacity number of 1754..inline with the wording “Disney proposes to operate a 1,754-passenger vessel”

When you compare this to the available 2008 information, it clearly breaks down to the same number of trips….

2008
Building Rental Period - May 1, 2008 to September 15, 2008
Passenger Fees: $285,025.00 @ $6.25 per person (embark and debark) = 22,802 passengers
# of sailings: 12 plus Eastbound Repositioning

That would make the schedule as follows:
May 17 - 31 Westbound Repositioning
May 31
June 7, 14, 21, 28
July 5, 12, 19, 26
August 2, 9, 16
August 23 - September 6 Eastbound Repositioning

Although by this schedule, it has the ship returning to Florida the Saturday after Labor Day, since Labor Day will be September 1, 2008.

Now, we'll just have to wait until next Wednesday and see what DCL has to say!!!

Yeah, Labor Day is the Sept 1st in 2008, which mean we go back to school the Wed or Thurs after labor day.
Hey, it may be a reason to go to California!

My lia sophia friends can't believe I have 3 vacations booked this year already and really can't believe I booked them ALL last year LOL
AND I won the trip to Orlando with lia sophia (after only 4 months I might add) But since we're going in February I opted to take the $1,200 AmEx gift card. New kitchen floor for me !!!!

Only you guys would understand. I love the DISboards.
Obsessive planners like me!

Getting more and more depressed about 2008
Booked a dummy Dec 2007 date on the Aug 06 cruise

Will need to move to something in 2008 and then again to something in 2009( and thats only if 2009 has any workable dates.

Ed...You never know what the future brings. I would never believe I would have THREE nice vacations booked in one year.

DON'T COUNT IT OUT, IT'S STILL OVER A YEAR AWAY!

Yikes, I forgot 2008 has the early Labor Day. I think those Aug repo dates are probably right. Well that definitely rules out the repo for us (not that we were interested anyway).

So we're going to book the Wonder for late August. I'm still leaning towards the August 16th date (or thereabouts). We'll do a back-to-back 3/4 day cruise if need be.

And Jeff.......I was dead wrong on my prediction that DCL won't take the Magic away from the Caribb in 2008. I am extremely surprised that the Magic will be away for 3 out of 4 summers now.

I'm delighted for the people in CA and those wanting to do repo cruises but I think DCL is really risking alienating the summer Caribbean cruisers who have been willing to shell out top dollar to cruise DCL over the years.

I just hope the Wonder does something special in the summer and not the 3/4 day itinerary. If not I think we'll see lots of posts of summer 2006 cruisers going to different cruiselines.

I, too, am thinking the Cruisin Castaway II cruise will be in 2009. We will definitely be there as we're celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary in August 2009.

If the repo cruise does return the saturday AFTER Labor Day...that pretty much excludes us too. I am going to be pinned to my computer next Wednesday waiting to find out the dates! :surfweb:

I think the Cruisin Castaways II for 2009 is a great idea also, as we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary.

You ARE the funny one. I think we will just have to stock up on the memory sticks and leave the laptop at home.

Leave The laptops At Home??? :scared1: Are You Mad??? How Would We communicate With Each Other??? :confused3 2009 Actually Sounds Better To Me, But I don't Know If We Can Wait That Long!

Hi everyone:

I could use a few smiles tonight; yesterday afternoon I found out that a close family friend was killed in a car accident yesterday morning. :sad1: She was one of THE warmest, nicest, friendliest, most considerate people I've ever met in my entire life. She and her DH had just moved to North Carolina (From Connecticut) less than 2 months and had just finished setting up their new house. In fact, my sister and BIL had lunch with them 2 weeks ago, and just a few days ago they got a phone call from them saying "the new guest room is all done, when are you guys coming to visit??". This woman was one of my sister's best friends. Her youngest daughter (now aged 35) used to come and spend weeks in the summer at my house at the Jersey shore when my boys were just babies/toddlers. Many, many very fond memories. Anyway... it's such an unbelievable loss. The memorial talk will be given this weekend, up here in CT, at her former congregation. I'll definitely be attending.

Then I came home tonight and got some news from DS18 regarding college; he didn't do very well at state college this past semester and now he wants to transfer to community college. You know, in the grand scheme of things, it's really not a big deal, and we'll let him transfer and support his decision (which, in the end, might just be the best thing for him), but it's just a bit of a disappointment, I guess. He is a very bright kid, he just needs to get back on track.

Meanwhile, DS15 is doing extremely well in all aspects of his life. :)

Anyway... let's talk cruising or something, I want to be cheered up!! :)

I am very happy for those of you who will be able to take advantage of the west coast cruises!! :cool1: But I have to admit that I'm even more excited to see several of you mention 2009, because that is likely when we'll be taking our next Disney cruise! :boat:

Terry so sorry to hear the sad news, her are some :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: from us to you!!!

Terry

Sorry to hear the sad news.

2008 is not of the question yet, but it may not be on DCL

RCCL freedom of the seas is looking as something that might be worth trying

2009 will be in the running as June 2009 is Beth and my 20th anv.

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone. :grouphug: I found out late last night that the memorial service will be Sunday at 3pm, in CT.

Ed: My niece and her husband cruised on Freedom of the Seas this past September (or was it October??) and they LOVED it!! This October we're cruising with them on Explorer of the Seas, and they're bringing their 8 year DD, and from what I understand RCI has a pretty good kid's program, too. I've read many of the same kinds of comments from the parents of kids, that I've read here on the DIS about the Disney kids clubs, such as "My child never wanted to leave the kids club, they were having too much fun", etc. :) I also like the fact that we can take a 9-night cruise and not even have to fly, since it departs from New Jersey :)

Ok, so let's see who has expressed interest in cruising DCL in 2009! Shall we start a list?? :teeth: :smooth: :boat:

SeaSpray
CtTiggerFan
Ski-and-Sea
AuctionDazeUSA
Lainie1222

anyone else?? :goodvibes :goodvibes :3dglasses

Not sure about 2009 here, we have to wait and see if we book for 2008, if we do, then we probably wouldn't go again until 2010.

Gotta get ready for work, have a GREAT day everyone!!!
