Hi Elaine!!

Oh, the beloved Diamonique day!!! The "Diamonique Queen" (me) LOVES this day! I bought the Today's Special Value and I'll be wearing it on the 8/16/08 (OR 8/23) CRUISIN' CASTAWAYS II "REVENGE OF THE DOUBLE DIPPERS" REUNION CRUISE!

Mary Rose

Good choice, Mary Rose. I am going to try to be good. HA HA HA!! :rotfl:
OK, so I only said try!! :rotfl:

It is a beautiful sun shiny day in CNY, and I am doing housework. But never too busy to do a post or two, or more.

Hey Elaine - I just ordered the earring with the three hanging hearts and the Greiner ring box! Have you ordered anything yet?

Mary Rose

Trying to be good in that respect also. Have really been conscious of my eating this week, and I hope it reflects on the scale on Tuesday.

Good afternoon everyone :wave2:

DH John is still up in the air (he had a stop-over in Detroit then continued on to Portland) and should be landing within the next couple of hours. :hourglass

I have a meatloaf in the oven (special request by the kids), and I'm almost done reading a book that I started before the cruise. :smooth:

Andy: Robby used to take music lessons right next to a pizza parlor and after the first couple of weeks I decided that on music-lesson night, I'd be bringing home pizza for dinner! There's just something about the smell of fresh pizza that is irrisistable! :thumbsup2 I hope Angelina can find comfortable shoes, they will make all the difference in the world to her, comfort-wise. :)

Elaine: Yes my big strong sons are being helpful around the house today; Robby is cleaning his room and doing a few loads of laundry, and Craig (he's not feeling well this weekend, he's been in bed all weekend) put away the dishes for me. He was getting sore from being in bed so much so he decided to get up and walk a little, so I had him put the dishes away since he was on his feet anyway. :teeth: Oh...and Mushu is also being helpful by helping me to get some exercise today - He threw up in the hallway so I had to bend down and clean it up. :lmao: Good job on your signature, by the way! :thumbsup2

Regarding the young man with half of an arm: I know who you're all referring to. I saw him many times on the ship. I can see where, at first glance or even after an encounter with him, he'd be construed as being "annoying", but I could tell that he has some sort of disability. I hope we all have compassion for someone like that. I did see him with a group many times, looked like a family group. From what I know, all of us on this thread have healthy children, I can't imagine how the parents of that young man must feel; wanting their son to have as normal of an experience on the Best cruise ship in the world, but since he's apparently 18 years old, they let him venture off on his own.

I don't know... I can understand where the "annoying" part comes from especially when Jeff was trying to enjoy a quiet moment, but we're all human beings, and a little understanding and compassion for someone like that can go a long way, not only towards the way we treat someone like that, but how it makes us feel ourselves. Maybe it's because when I was a teen I was a camp counselor at a summer camp for Brain-Injured children, but I can spot people with handicaps like that a mile away, and often times at first glance, or even second glance they don't LOOK like they're handicapped, but they are. They don't function the same way we do. They don't pick up on non-verbal cues the same way we do, such as when someone rolls their eyes they don't realize it means that they're annoying someone.

Also about the other topic which many of us are carefully trying to avoid: I have to be totally honest and say that I see it from both sides. Things in life are so often NOT "black and white". Sometimes there are extenuating circumstances to a situation that another party may not realize. I can see why some older teens would be upset or confused as to why DCL would allow a 17 yr old guest to remain in RBD. But I know the other side of the situation, too.

I hope I don't make anyone upset with all I've just said, but there it is. It's how I feel. We've become a fairly close-knit group over the course of the past 3+ years, and I hope we remain that way. I sincerely enjoy the company of each and every one of you, whether it be in the form of a post, a brief conversation on the ship, or telephone calls, emails, DIS brunches, etc. :grouphug:

I want to add one final comment: I want you all to know that I respect all opinions, even those that differ from mine. We all have a right to feel how we feel, about all different subjects. I just felt it was time to share how I felt about some of these.

I was in the arcade and the guy that everyone on here is talkin about with half a arm was in there and I was really bad at this game, and i guess he was watching, and then when I was done he was like your not good at that game are you, and it kinda reminded me of what my friends at home would say, so that made me laugh and not think he was so annoying

and about the 17 year old being in RBD, I don't care if a 17 year old is in there, but one night I saw two people I had talked with them walk in there and I didn't really hang out with them or know there names, but I met and talked and they had just graduated high school and were 17, and they were asked to leave, i just don't think it's right for one 17 year old being in there and some asked to leave, just my opinoin.

Ok, I think we just found the title of our new thread(s) "Cruising Castaways II - Revenge of the Double Dippers!!" :sail:

Terry, I applaud you, and agree with you. :thumbsup2 What time is dinner? My grandmother made the best meatloaf we have ever had. My husband's meatloaf was so bad we dubbed it "dogfood meatloaf" and refused to eat it. Now that he runs the restaurant he must have taken classes in Meatloaf 101 and we enjoy it on occassion. So I can make it to wherever you are in about 4-5 hours. :moped: That's me on my Harley!! Can you have dinner at 7PM?

Still haven't bought any Diamonique!!!

Hi Everyone!

Terry - thank you your eloquent words! Thanks also for the vote on the name for the new thread YOU will be starting soon :rotfl: It is with great honor that much in the way Joanna passed the 2004 thread to me, I will now hand the 2008 over to you. You know, it's like the Olympic torch of threads! :rotfl2: . Seriously though, you ran this thread so beautifully I hope you want to run the new one too!

Elaine - No Diamonique yet! Just wait, it's only hour 15 :lmao:

Jeff - Don't you just know that our industrious Andy can make anything fit on a T-shirt (and a magnet, and a pin) :rotfl: Hope your move is going smoothly. Gosh, moving is the pits isn't it?

Mary Rose

Mary Rose - I really do like those earrings you ordered. I may have to copy. I hope you don't mind.

A friend bought a all around diamonique necklace and it is to die for. I might have to be bad and get it if it comes on. :rotfl:

Hi Elaine - Yes, yes, order the earrings and we'll make them the Official Earrings of the Cruisin' Castaways II". Oh, but in all fairness, our Official Necklace will have to be LS - okay Doreen?? :rotfl:

Sorry, but the only earring I wear is a gold hoop for pirate: Pirate's Night, and that's just a clip on, not to mention, plastic!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Oh, and as for the 2008 Challenge - It's nothing you can't handle! :thumbsup2 (now whether or not you WANT to handle it....well, that's another matter altogether) :lmao:
Ah, yes, I can see it up on Cafe Press now......................

MR

Hey guys,

Just posted my trip report. Waited until I finished the entire week's worth before posting. Then I had to wait until I uploaded my photos. Ah well, its up there.

REVENGE OF THE DOUBLE DIPPERS......I LOVE IT!!!!!

Speaking of being careful about making negative comments about people.....yes, this is a "public" MB.

Reminds me of a skiing web site I belong to that has a MB. Initially there was a tight core group of posters then lots of others joined in. Some terrific, some not so terrific. Things got really ugly at one point with some of the newer posters.

Some of the original group members toyed around with creating an invitation-only members MB within the MB. In the end it was decided it wasn't a fair thing to do.

Spent the afternoon draining and cleaning out our hot tub. The water got cloudy and it was time. Love doing that in the middle of the winter.

Not looking forward to tomorrow. If you live within the New York City metro area then you know what I am referring to.

I'm just not going to watch TV tomorrow morning when the local TV stations show the coverage of the reading of the names. It still breaks my heart when I see the pictures of the people I know who died in the World Trade Center.

Ski and Sea
My thoughts will be with you and countless others whose lives were so devastatingly changed by 9-11. As the daughter of a Syracuse, NY firefighter, we grew up 2 blocks from my father's station. Whenever we heard the sirens and he was on duty, my thoughts always were wether we would see him again. He was injured a few times, but always came home. May God bless all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

What is RBD anyways?
It doesn't matter what the situation is. The rules are 18 and up. A 17 year old DOES NOT belong in there or any part of the adult things period. Their not that special even though they think they are all that.
