Hello Everyone... Is everyone staying cool?? It hit 108* heat index here today.. Thank good ness for a/c.. DENISE and anyone else in CHICAGO.. where you effected with the power outage there>? I saw that on the news..

Hi Doreen!

Fortunately, we haven't been affected by the power outages. But the stories of the evacuations of those that have lost power are amazing. Some of the buildings are going from air conditioned to unlivable in a couple of hours with this heat. The news has been doing stories of those that have lost power - some elderly, some infirm, some less fortunate.

The thermomether in my car (which is accurate +/- 1*) read 104* while on my way to dance with DD Britt. Whomever ticked off Mother Nature better apologize RIGHT THIS VERY INSTANT!!

We're supposed to get a break tomorrow evening - but we need some severe storms to get this heat over with. How about everyone else?

o.k you guys are just to quick for me tonight. I was just going to Thank Terry and ask if 152.60 was the right total for 2 people. I have it written down. Thanks guys, I know Chuck gave the dining room mananger something special from our wedding cruise but it was left blank on the on the sheet??Is it only if they do something special for you ? now working on the envelopes........... trying to cross things off the many lists.

Right there with you, our car registered 102* on my way home from work today, and more of the same for tomorrow. It's still 90* with a heat index of 101* here at 10pm. I don't think this air conditioner has been off for more that a couple minutes all day long, can't wait to get this month's electric bill.

I'm heading off to bed now, check with y'all in the mornin'.

Welcome aboard Beth and family!!!

Thank heavens we put that air conditioner in last year. My sister was in a nursing home today trying to give a presentation and they had no air and she had to leave as soon as she possibly could. I feel so bad for all of the residence that can't leave.

Andy - Thank you so much for that laugh I really needed it. I am sorry that you have to be out in the weather though.

I was behind a truck today and it said "We haul American made products" and I looked up to see what kind of truck it was and it was a septic truck. I laughed all the way to work.

On another, not so happy topic, please send your prayers for my sister's friend. She has just been diagnosed with Cancer and it isn't looking very good. She has three fairly young children who don't know yet. Her mother died of cancer when she was 17 and she has always told my sister that she would die young of cancer too. They know that the cancer has basically eaten through the bones in her neck and they think it has spread. If it is the kind on cancer that my sister thinks it is then there is no treatment. Hopefully it won't be that kind. This one is hitting me really hard, I think it is the thought of leaving my own children that makes it so scary. Thanks for letting me share, I needed to get it out.

I am trying to remember if there is a hairdryer in the bathroom? I don't need one with my curly hair but my DH & SIL need one. Any help would be appreciated.

It will kind of be funny if we have to go to Florida to cool off. My mother is down there and she says it is cooler down there then here. Let's hope the power doesn't go off. They are asking people to conserve in many communities here.

A lot of people don't realize that "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" is not the first book in the series, it's the second or the third (I can't remember right now).

It is the 2nd book in the series. They are going to do another movie and they are skipping book 3 and doing a movie on book 4 which has the 4 children from the 2nd book as the main characters again.

To Be 6 Again...

A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, observing his wife, looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he asked what she'd like to have for her Birthday.

"I'd like to be six again", she replied, still looking in the mirror.

On the morning of her Birthday, he arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Lucky Charms, and then took her to Six Flags theme park. What a day!
He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Monster Roller Coaster, everything there was.
Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down.

He then took her to a McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake.

Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&M's. What a fabulous adventure! Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted. He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, "Well Dear, what was it like being six again??"

Her eyes slowly opened and her __ex pression suddenly changed. "I meant my dress size, you dumb ***!"

The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he is gonna get it wrong.
