On another, not so happy topic, please send your prayers for my sister's friend. She has just been diagnosed with Cancer and it isn't looking very good. She has three fairly young children who don't know yet. Her mother died of cancer when she was 17 and she has always told my sister that she would die young of cancer too. They know that the cancer has basically eaten through the bones in her neck and they think it has spread. If it is the kind on cancer that my sister thinks it is then there is no treatment. Hopefully it won't be that kind. This one is hitting me really hard, I think it is the thought of leaving my own children that makes it so scary. Thanks for letting me share, I needed to get it out.

Linda: I'm so sorry to hear this about your sister's friend That has got to be the most painful thought for a parent; to know your children will have to grow up without you. Please let us know how she is when she finds out more about the cancer.

Andy and anyone else who has to be outdoors today: PLEASE STAY SAFE! I have the news on here right now and there are several reports of people who've died in the last day or two, from the heat!!! Andy, take it very s-l-o-w-l-y.... Drink a lot of cold water!! Take a lot of breaks!!


Well, on to Day 3 of running the department by myself. It's going fine so far, but I know there are some things I have to do tomorrow which I'm not so sure about. In the words of Scarlett O'Hara: "I won't think about that now. I'll think about that tomorrow".

Linda, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I hope there is something modern medicine can do for her - her family is so young.

There is a hair dryer in the bathrooms. Usually I do not care about hair dryers but I really do not like the ones in the bathrooms there. I will be bringing my own. Getting dressed up with a lousy hair dryer is hard!

We are on Deck 2 as well. We are in 2632.

I'm (un)happy to report that it's darn hot here in Philadelphia, too! It's supposed to be in excess of 100 today, and who know what the heat index will be. A bunch of the Ladies here at work are supposed to go to lunch today down at Broad and Chestnut, about 6 blocks from our office. We are trying to map out a route that keeps us underground or in the shade for most of the walk. I don't know how many of you are familiar with Philly in the summer, but it's pretty unpleasant (smells, too)!

Hope everyone is well. Two weeks from today, around this time, I hope to be eating breakfast with my family near Potomac Mills in VA. More than likely, however, we'll be caught in traffic on the DC beltway! But, who cares, we'll be on vacation.

Two co-workers of mine found a man passed out yesterday from the heat on the side of the road, he was breathing but was not responding to their questions, the men called the police and the paramedics. I didn't hear anymore about the man, but how scary to come across something like that.

No Doreen I didn't pay for my kit, my manager did. I wanted to sign on locally, it is easier for me. Every month the meetings are local (if you want to attend) and not via phone or internet (which does work for some) but wouldn't for me.

I heard this weekend FLORIDA will get the hurricane its brewing out in the ATLANTIC... nothing to concern with yet..YET, that is the key word, remember we have a history!!!! LOL
