I am so sorry to hear about you MIL. Is Marty OK? Was she cancer free for 9 years? It's a sneaky disease, that's for sure. Please tell her we are praying for her.

Stan is OK. We are still digesting what we heard at the oncology consult. He is healing from the surgery, tired alot. We are leaving for CA on 8/18 and boarding the MAGIC on the 20th. WE ALL NEED THIS VACATION.

Sandy did her "sweat test" yesterday and I can call for the results tomorrow. I tried to call today but the office was closed. I think she will be fine and this was a rule-out test. I'll let you know.

Hi All,

It's now after 1am on Friday morning and I'm having an absolutely horrible night. I've been trying to get to sleep for over three hours now, and I just cannot get comfortable, the pain pills aren't even helping tonight.

For those who we are scheduled to meet later this month at The Trail's End Restaurant, it appears highly doubtful that we will be making the trip. The reason being, I cannot even sit up in a chair without having to have my legs elevated, I just can't see me trying to sit on an airplane for over two hours.

I'm going to send Ed an e-mail and have him take over my ressie for the Trail's End. I'm so very sorry everyone, but I really need to do what is best for me at this time.

Oh no! Andy, Im soo sorry to see youre still in alot of pain. Hoping you were finally able to get some sleep. I was surprised when I saw you posted at 1am - thought to myself Uhoh, then I read your post.
Will you be calling your doctor today? What day do you have up to to cancel your flights, etc? Maybe you can hold off another wk?
And yes Andy we do understand. You do need to do whats best for you. take care

Hi Andy. I just saw that you had some surgery. I'm so sorry that you're in discomfort.

I know that you're in good hands. I'll bet that Hazel is pampering you while you recuperate.

Good Morning All,

I finally fell sleep sometime after 3 this morning after taking my second pain pill at 2:30. I have another PT session at 2:15 this afternoon and I see my surgeon for my post-op visit this coming Monday afternoon at 2:30. I feel so bad about canceling out, but I just didn't have any other choice, the pain is just as bad now as it was before I finally fell asleep. I got another call back from Allison a few minutes ago and she told me that I actually had one tendon and one ligament "cut" because they were pulling the kneecap to one side, that's why I am having so much pain when trying to sit up with my knee bent. As fate would have it, this is the first time I didn't buy travel insurance when using our DVC points, I guess this should teach me a lesson.

At least I have a whole year to recoup before our Cruisin' Castaways Cruise!!!

Hi Regina, Yes, Hazel is taking "excellent" care of me, she is not only my nurse these days but also my driver, since I'm not allowed to drive until my surgeon gives me clearance. I feel like a pampered pup indeed!!! And, if Hazel is off running an errand, Angelina stays home, with her dear old dad, incase I need some help. These two ladies are spoiling me rotten.

Hi Darlene--Yes, I was on the DVC board early this morning looking to see if anyone needed some points in a hurry, I saw one post that I sent a reply to, just waiting to hear back if that person can still use the points. I'd hate for these points to go to waste, but I know I can't use them right now.

Welcome to all those who will be joining us. I haven't posted much (but I've been reading posts) since my back/sciatica is extremely painful. Andy, I know what it's like to be up at all hours because of pain. I've gone through the set of epidural injections with no relief and today am scheduled for another injection into the S-1 joint. The doctor is also scheduling another MRI for me -- this time in the upper back (thoracic region) since my other 3 MRIs have been normal. Sometime I wonder if I'm imagining it all but I know I'm not. I'm not one to ask for prayers but a few sent my way would be appreciated since this has been going on since Feb. 2004. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Terry & Melinda- I used to live off Fisher Blvd.& Bay Ave. but now we live off Hooper Ave. only 1 block in from Fisher Blvd. where the big WAWA is. and Terry Our cabin on our first cruise was 6042,its that small world thing

Andy, sorry you are in so much pain but hopefully it will get better soon.

My DDs and I are leaving for a little road trip on 8/9 down to Ft. Myers and decided to do a little side trip to Disney on the way home. We will be staying at BCV 8/19-8/21. This is the first time I have driven down without DH so I am taking my time since I will be the only driver and a little apprenhensive about driving at night alone with DDs.maybe we will see some of you there.

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to report that I am seeing some more progress as of this afternoon. I was actually able to sit up straight in my chair for about two minutes, and I was able to hobble to the bathroom without the use of my crutches. I know it dosen't sound like much, but that was a big accomplishment for me, considering what I had done on Monday.

Since Hazel and Angelina have been by my side since Monday, I treated them to lunch and a movie this afternoon. They needed the break, and so did I. I was able to watch a DVD that I had been waiting to see and also take a short nap while they were gone. But I must admit, I was happy to see them arrive home a short while ago.

While I was at PT yesterday, the therapist added some more knee exercises for me to do, and also added some weights to my ankle as I did them. The part I like most about therapy is the last 15 minutes when they wrap my knee up, and run ice water through a machine to help control the swelling. I don't remember the name of the machine, but it sure feels good after spening an hour doing therapy exercises.

I go back Monday afternoon for my post-op visit with my surgeon.

I was able to rent all my points to a very nice family in Maryland for the ressie that we had to cancel at Fort Widerness, so at least I did recoup some of the money we would have lost, although, that was the least of my worries. It just so happens that this family also wanted a ressie for Fort Wilderness, they will be arriving next Wednesday.

I guess that's the latest from my home front for now.

Andy - sitting up in the chair for 2 minutes IS progress. Hopefully by next week, you'll be able to do more. Hope you aren't in as much pain. Take care.

DD Lindsay and I ran around most of the day returning things. I like to buy but hate to return. Yesterday DS Harley went to the Eagles training camp and came home last night with autographs on his football. I have no idea who they are, but he did and he had a great time.

Hi Bev--yea, I forgot to mention about the pain, I haven't had to take any Percoset since around noon on Friday. I did take some Extra Strength Tylenol last night before going to bed, then again when I woke up this morning, and another dose after lunch today. I guess that's the kind of progress I should be very happy about, especially since I don't like taking the pain meds when I don't have too. I still feel a constant ache in the knee joint, but nothing like a few days ago!!!

That's rather cool that Harley was able to get some of the Eagles autographs!!!

I was up early today and realized I have tons of things to do before vacation that I keep putting off. So today's the day to get things done. I always get myself stressed out the week or so before vacation thinking I forgot something etc etc.
