Hi All,

Looking forward to five nights at AKL! We stayed one night last August at the end of our BCV trip and wanted to go back...

My question is about animals on the savannah....We noticed that the animals seemed to congregate in specific areas and did not move much from their "territory'. What area of AKV would give us the most desirable/appealing view of the animals....My little guy loves giraffes, zebras, cattle..... Pelicans? Not so much;)

I am going to request a lower floor but would love some advice on what part of the savanah would be best....will be spending a lot of time on the balcony and hope for a great view. Are the areas divided like at AKV with names of trails?

Thanks for any help you may provide:):):)

We stayed in room 7726 (one bedroom), which is in the third "bead" from the lobby, overlooking the Sunset savanna. I think this was the 3rd. floor, but I can't remember. We had wonderful views of giraffes, cattle, and zebras. I don't know if they have trail names like they do at Jambo house. But the room location was perfect. We were quite close to the lobby and the pool. We had elevators right near our room that took us down to the pool level. We also loved the covered parking! http://www.aklresort.com/
Check out this website. It has everything you could ever want to know about AKL!

(a) request Sunset savanna view because Pembe has no giraffes

(b) request near lobby because animals tend to congregate in that general area (which includes the room the poster above had)

I'm staying at Kidani Village for the first time as a new DVC owner. I requested a savannah view. My question is (and forgive me my ignorance), is the savannnah for Kidani Village different than the savannah for the main resort?

There are so many times we saw animals just walking from the villa to the lobby. Plus there is the overlook too. You can also go to JH too

We were there at Christmas and noticed that the handlers of the animals stratigically place food throughout the areas on the savvanah so that every room gets a good view of the animals at different parts of the day.

I was in a Savannah studio right off the lobby. It was on the sunset savannah. forgot section name though. I was on the top floor and right near the elevator which was great. Room 7908

I always recommend "2nd floor, close to the lobby."

Many thanks for your help!:goodvibes

If I request 2nd floor close lobby does it matter which side of the lobby we are on? Is it the same savannah with zebra, gifaffe and cattle??

We stayed at AK Kidani last October 2009 first of all our savanaha view was in the far corner looking at a HOG pen. We complained the minute we checked in and were moved to a room on the third floor with a far better view. Loved the view and loved the room BUT construction EVERY morning started outside the parking garage at 6am, about every 15minutes a lift would go speeding by in the parking garage and all we would hear would be a rumble coming from below.....sounded like a 747 taking off from under my bed. Well that did not last long, I complained and was moved to the next best thing........a two bedroom savanaha view at Jambo with Concierge benifits....yay us!!! To make matters better we received 4 nights credit to our DVC account, a hotel credit of $600.00 and the best VIP treatment EVER!!!
Animal Kingdom more then made up for all the trouble and I would for sure return BUT I would be staying at AK Jambo, I liked that resort much better it was just more grand!

Either side is fine, same savanna, same animals. North wing close to lobby puts you somewhat closer to pool since it is on the north side after the lobby; south wing close to the lobby puts you closer to community hall which is just south of the lobby.

In no way an AKV Kidani expert, but....

Here are a few observations I've made throughout the few times we've stayed at Kidani with Sunset Savanna views:

-Animals that roam around the entire Savanna: Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, and most of the birds (Ostrich, crowned crane, vultures, etc)

-Ankole cattle mostly rested and stayed in the northern portion of the savanna (room-location-wise: to the Left of the main lobby)

-Many of the larger antelope (Kudu, Bongo, etc.) were mostly in the southern portion of the savanna (room-location-wise: to the Right of the main lobby)

And of course, many of the animals congregated around the center of the savanna near the observation area and fire pit.

Hope this helps.

Some of the savannah rooms in the north wing face the Pembe savannah, different animals. If you want Sunset Savannah, be sure to request.

When I was there last summer, we were in the center of the south wing, bottom of the "U". The giraffes and zebras only came close when they were fed there late afternoon. Most of the times they were closer to the lobby. If I stayed there again, I would request "Sunset Savannah, near lobby".

The lower room numbers (last 2) have the best views. stayed the week of July 4 (room # ended in 73) my view was the building they took the giraffes to get checked. Lost of trucks coming and going.

Great information! These are Kiddani savannahs? I recall the AKL having the Sunset and Uzima savannahs?
