A couple quick questions for the experts here ....

1) Where are the concierge rooms located. I know I've heard they are on the 5th and 6th floor. Are any close to the main lobby area or are they more towards the far end of the U?

Which savannah's do they face? And, is there one that is better than another?

2) In regards to the savannah rooms, is there one savannah that is better than another? Is one floor better than another?

My mom has a hard time walking and will have a scooter so I was thinking that it might be better to request, for them, a 3rd floor room, close to an elevator and close to the main lobby area. Any thoughts?

We had some problems last year and they gave us a special number to call 10 days out. They told us to let them know exactly what we wanted and they would do what they could to do to get us that ... so I figured we might as well ask ... the only problem is that this is the first time we will have stayed here so I'm not sure what to ask for ....

Thanks for your help.

The 5th floor rooms are right off the lobby in the first, second or third section.. a close walk to the elevators.

The rooms they use on the 5th floor face Arusha... I have never heard of them using the Sunset Savanna view rooms on the 5th floor for Concierge guests.

On the 6th floor they face the Sunset Savanna or the Pool

Views are best from the 5th floor (my opinion) convenience is great on the 6th floor as the rooms are literally just feet away from the lounge.

The corridors and halls are large and roomy, I think your mom would be okay on any floor... there is really no point putting her on 3 as she would have to use the elevators to get up to the lounge anyway. I am sure she will get around fine with her scooter.

Cool! Decide on where you want to be and call them... are you going on the sunrise safari?

Here's a map that may help:

There's also an AKL FAQ's thread with a lot of info if you want to take the time to read through it. Even if you just read the first post there are really good descriptions of the different savannahs and which animals are where.

Thanks -- I did read through the AKL frequently asked questions material and it answered alot of questions. I was just wondering whether one was better than the other or not.

Thanks Cruise List Mistress -- I was just curious on floor three because my parents aren't staying concierge and I wanted to get them a good location. They have a savannah room reserved ... got a great AP price and couldn't pass it by ... am hoping for an upgrade but it doesn't happen often so was looking to get inside info... I appreciate the time you took to respond.

I've read some posts that have said certain savannahs are better than others ... I'm sure a lot of it is personal preference, though. We are excited to be able to just go 18 days and counting...

It will be interesting as we are staying at POR for the first two nights (Thanksgiving night and Friday after -- as AKL was sold out for those nights) and then moving over to AKL. We've not ever split resorts during a stay so it will be an experience. My DH tells me I probably won't want to go back to POFQ next year after the AKL this year ... I suspect that is him talking, though he won't admit it. Thanks for her help.

Any other experts out there?

just bumping this up to see if I can get a few more opinions.

Thanks

I preferred the Arusha Savannah to the other two, for the variety of animals.
