When last I posted, the GF Concierge staff had called me and I was a bit nervous about what I should/could request when I returned their call.
Well......I got up the nerve to return the call and thanks to the advice I got from the nice people on the DIS
I was well prepared.
Just to bring everyone up to speed, we had not been able to book a concierge room in the main building for our first night but were determined to keep trying right until the last minute.
Since moving rooms was something that we wanted to avoid and the main building and it's possibilities of a "Castle View" were very important to us, we were pretty determined. We have two little girls, one 4 years old and our older princess who will celebrate her 10th birthday during our stay. It's their first trip to Disney
. We had already made all of our PS ourselves
(but it was fun)
I wanted to do a few special things for my dd's big day and thanks to TammiMcMan's wonderful suggestion, I had decided to request a manicure for the two of us at the GF spa.
I was also hoping to have a mini-wedding cake sent to our room for DDs birthday after I saw them in Janet2k's threads.
So, I bravely grabbed my cordless phone and hid in my bedroom (so DDs wouldn't overhear) with my reservation number in hand and I made the call.
A lovely woman named Joey (I'm not sure about the spelling) answered my call and asked what she could do to help.
I explained the situation with the room change and she listened. She was empathetic but advised me that there was still no availability for our first night in the main building. She was super helpful about the cake order, even though she hadn't heard of it AND she booked our manicures at the spa. DD's is called "My first manicure", awwwww. She promised to get back to me with the details about the cake and wished me a nice evening.
Pretty good, I thought.
The next day (today) I arrived home to find an email from her and not only has she spoken to the chef and arranged for the cake, she managed to change our first night to the main building.
We will not have to change rooms!!! She also promised us the same rate that we have for our other nights!!! I just couldn't be happier. I feel so silly for worrying about calling them.
Now if my children can just get over the nasty stomach flu that they came down with over the weekend, we are really going to have a Magical 10th birthday trip. We're all stocked up on kaopectate, so please send some pixie dust our way. The Dr. says the virus could last 10 days.
