Hi,

We fly out of MN on NOrthwest to Pensacola Tuesday.

DD lost her driver's license last week at the local fair and she bought a replacement from the local government office. We are wating for the "official license" from MN but that probably won't get here before we leave.

Anyway, I called NW to see if a SS card and a NW ff card (as stated is good for i.d on their website) and they told me no, she has to fill out a police report for the lost license and bring a copy with her to the airport to be allowed to fly.

Any suggetions and btw, she is l9 yo.

She has college i.d. cards, but they won't work either.

Does this sound right, or should I called NW back again tomorrow?

Nope, it does not sound right at all. I went to the site and my read (and no I am no expert) is that a BC and a school id should be ok. http://www.nwa.com/features/update_airport.shtml

It does not specifically state school id's, but, I would assume it has her photo on it. I would call and ask to speak with a supervisor. I have never heard of having to fill out a police report for a lost licenese, is that something unique to your state?
Good luck, I hope it works out.

Hi,

Yes, this seems nuts to me to have to get a police report for a lost
license! I don't know if this is a MN only requirement or not!

I just emailed the NW website to see what reply they come up with and I am going to call NW back again tomorrow!

I would think a SS card and the NW ff card, plus school picture i.d. should be enuf for them, but who knows these days.

Also, the NW phone operator told me I had to vouch for DD as well, well duh!

We leave out of a small International Airport here in MN and they are truly picky about safety and security as we have found out before for other flights. I am NOT complaining, but I know they won't cut us any slack especially at 6 a.m.

If all else fails take her to the DVM and get her a new license or somesort of photo id (some governement offices can do this in the case of folks that don't drive and need one).

I have no problem with security and safety, I have a problem with asinine interpertations of stated rules. :) In this case I don't think it is your airport, I think it is NWA.

Get there early.

Also NW really is not your only concern. You have to get past the TSA and they could subject you to the full search if your 19 year old does not have a GOVERMENT issued ID. (Don't know where she goes to school so that might be an issue!)

You might want to call the TSA at 1-866-289=9673.

Your other problem will be getting home. Orlando is a major airport I recommend you give yourself more then two hours in case they get huffy about the ID. They might not, but.... better safe then sorry!

Hi everyone,

Updated,

My dd drove out to the airport today and asked NWA directly and the security screeners what she needs for i.d. now.

She was told NW will not deny her boarding (showing other i.d.) BUT she will be subjected to extreme security checking both of body and bags. Oh boy. Well, at least the MN National Guard won't be there like last time holding a rifle about 3 feet from the screeeners, LOL.

Well, she has learned a lesson here, I guess about responsibility to put a postive spin on this experience.

I also called NW again today and talked to someone else with a better knowledge of this situation and they repeated the same info about not being denied boarding but expect heavy scrutiny.

Carol, you were right on both counts. NW Agent told us to be at both airports early. Luckily, Pensacola is a small airport too.

Wish us luck, herc .
