I think we all should call our congress persons and demand cash for clunkers camera style. To be able to turn in our dreadfully slow lens and low ISO cameras for sleeker and faster lens and cameras is far more appealing the me than an auto clunker.

So pick up the phone and let them know how you feel!

But what if I LIKE clunker cameras?

:thumbsup2 This just might work

I woudn't mind trading in my 40 -150 f3.5 - 5.6 lens for the 90 - 250 f2.8 lens and this program may do the trick :lmao:

John, this is a genius idea! Please run for Congress!!!!
I'll take an even trade D300 for my D80 so I can hang onto crop and then STILL buy the D700.

I'm glad someone is finally taking the initiative to do this. Slow lenses are hurting our national prosperity, and will ultimately leave us barren.

We must achieve faster glass if we wish to compete in the coming years as a photography super power!

LOL- Not nearly clunky enough. ;)

Hmm, maybe you'd be interested in my old 35mm Mamiya ZM Quartz camera with a 50mm lens?

Mamiya ZM Quartz
Released in October 1982, the Mamiya ZM was the last Mamiya 35mm camera to be produced. An advanced version of the ZE-2, with some of the features of the ZE-X, it has an aperture-priority automatic time control, based on center-weighted TTL readings, and an automatic shutter-speed range from four (4) seconds to 1/1000 and a manual range from two (2) seconds to 1/1000. Like the ZE-X, it takes two (2) MS76, or equivalent, 1.5v batteries.

It has both optical and audio signals indicating over- or under-exposure, pending battery failure, or excessive camera shake. Improvements were also found in the metering modes, shutter release, self-timer, manual time settings and the on/off switch. The ergonomics of the camera body itself were even better, noticeable in the increased body bulge near the film advance lever, for a more comfortable grip.

While the ZM can use the E and EF series lenses that were used on previous Z-series bodies, specific ZM lenses actually started into production, and can frequently be found today in auction. They are the Mamiya-Sekor E "S" series, identified by a red "S" on the lens ring, along with the white "E" designation

It actually was a great camera, and took some really nice shots. Unfortunately it started having problems some years ago, and it wasn't worth the price to fix it.

So what do you think, sound clunky enough? :thumbsup2
