Someone please tell me why I will enjoy going in February. I plan for it to be the week before President's Day 2007. How are the crowds, weather? I've always been in September, besides the temp. how will it differ or be the same?

Hi,

Crowds will be manageable in February as long as you avoid Presidents Day weekend and into the week. If you will be there over the holiday weekend crowds will increase dramatically.

As for the weather, there are no guarantees...February in Orlando is unpredictable. You could have warm afternoons with cool mornings, or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoons in the 40s. Both of those could happen in the same week! Just pack layers.

We were there from Feb. 1 to Feb 8. So not the President's Day week. We found the crowds mostly tolerable. The weekend was horrible. We used FP a lot and the longest we waited was 25 minutes for Crush. The weather was good for us. Cool and clear most days. We did have one day it rained the entire day, not short showers. Drenching rain the whole day. Too cool for the pool most days and darn right cold at night. Comfortable with jeans and a heavier coat.

From reading here and other places, I believe President's Day week is quite busy.

I want to go back this September (last week). What's it like then?

I just got back this week. We were there from Feb 9-21st. We heard President's Week was crowded and it was pretty crowded over the weekend, but the week before was mild...although still crowded. The weather fluctuates A LOT. It was 35 degrees Sunday amnd Monday night, but 75-85 the rest of the week. We had a blast and it really was a great time to be there. There is no florida humidity in the winter, mostly the weather was very pleasant, and the crowds were manageable before President's weekend. Although Daytona was happening at the same time, as was the nat'l cheerleader's championship, so there was still a lot of people there the week before President's week! But I would recommend going in Feb vs. September mailnly due to weather! The crowds are probably the same, but it's hot and humid in Sept! Hope this helps!

We were there 2/11-2/18. Crowds were fine until Friday when it started getting really busy. As Perdie said, the weather fluctuated wildly that week--it was cold enough for mittens & hot chocolate on Sunday & Monday but warmed up to 80 by Friday.

We really enjoyed going that week before President's Day. I think one plus would be that you won't hit hurricane season in February.

We were there Sep 19-25, 2004 and it was great. It was low humidty, a nice breeze, and a few clouds to cover the sun.

We were there Sep 15-21, 2005 and it pretty hot. It was high 80's and humid every day. Good things is, throuhg both trips, it really only rained one day. But that day was a drenching rain. We exited Rock n Roller Coaster and it was starting to rain, by the time we made it to Tower of Terror- we were soaked.

Crowds were great both trips. We waited maybe 20-25 minutes tops on the most popular attractions. 2005 was busier than 2004, probably b/c of the free dining plan. However, my dated in 2004 were 7 days for the price of 5. Hopefully they will have another discount this year. We only made few dining reservations each year, and we never really had to wait. I think we waited longer on the places with reservations- but then again they were California Grill and O'hana's.

Thanks for all the info- Hope you have a great time, Sept is wonderful. My first pick is would either be then or Oct, but DH may not have the vacation time by then.

We just got back on Feb. 16, we were there from Feb. 9th. We made sure to go BEFORE president's week. The first Saturday we went to MK and it was pretty darn crowded. However, we did get there right at open so the first hour or two was very nice. Other than that, I didn't think the crowds were bad at ALL, and DH and I are definitely not crowd people.
I think the longest we waited for a ride was 15-20 minutes. We rode Buzz three times in a row, POC twice on different days and no wait. Our longest waits were Dumbo (very slow loading ride), Turtle Talk, Rockn Roller Coaster, and Living w/ the Land. Those just are summed up to bad timing, and even so the wait wasn't bad.
One day we got to Epcot about noon and it was practically empty in the World Showcase, we felt like we almost had the place to ourselves!
The weather was in the 60's for the most part, a few days it broke 70. We had a cold snap for a couple days and they had record breaking lows at nite....but during the day it would still warm up a little bit.
As long as you don't have your heart set on water parks, I would HIGHLY recommend Feb.!!! We swam at the pool at our resort the last day and it was great.....it was only 55 when we got in but it was heated - and in the short time we were out there, the sun came out full force and warmed things up nicely. :)
Just pack sensibly....bring things you can easily layer, like a sweatshirt over a t-shirt or something like that. GO FOR IT!!!
