Hey everybody, we are planning on going to California Adventures for one day Sep 12th (Wed) but we have the ability to change it to Friday if needed.

The issue is on Wed CA is open 10 - 8, but on Friday CA is open 9 - 10. Are we better off on a weekday (less people?) or are we better off with the extra 3 hours? 3 hours may not matter at all if the park is packed.

Thanks for any help.

Friday, September 14 is the first day of Halloweentime at DLR. I would expect the evening attendance numbers at Disneyland to be a bit more than the Fridays preceding as locals come in to check out this year's Halloween offerings. How Disney California Adventure numbers will be affected by this remains yet to be seen. I expect this will depend partly on if there are new Halloween decorations and events at that park.

There are a couple things I would consider.
Wed evening will be lighter than Fri night but daytime for either probably won't be too bad since school is in.
I think I would go for the longer day on Friday.
Just my 2 cents ;)

I knew about friday being the start of halloween time which makes it even more difficult. I'm thinking theres a good chance people flock to DLR for the halloween stuff then move over to CA or carsland.

GRRRR dont know what to do! Which the hours weren't cut so short on Wed

Personally I always opt for more hours and then deal with the crowds. More hours usually corresponds to more entertainment and more staffing, and for me with a touring plan and good use of fastpass that balances things out enough.

If World of Color is a priority, I think I'd lean toward Friday. It's very likely that World of Color will also play on Wednesday, but on very rare occasions the show has been dark on a few weekdays for refurbs/etc. Friday will probably have 2 shows so you can go to the second one. I'd be surprised if the 2nd show on Friday was MORE crowded than the only show on Wednesday, and you'll just plain have more time to see it (or more time to explore the park before you have to get lined up to get a good view).

If you don't care about World of Color, each option has advantages and disadvantages. If you like Halloween, it might be worth going on Friday just to have a chance of seeing anything DCA may do. Conversely, if you hate Halloween, Wednesday will be better.
