Maybe someone can help me with this- want to make sur this trip is realistic. It will be me, DH and DD10 (maybe she may be 11- depends if we go next summer or the summer after). We will be flying in on a Sunday.

Sunday Day 1- fly into San Diego, tour city at night

Monday Day 2- San Diego Zoo, head to Disneyland that evening- maybe shop at DTD(we will be staying at Grand Californian)

Tues/Wed/Thur/Fri Day 3, 4, 5 6- Disney Parks

Saturday Day 7- Hollywood/LA touring(Madame Toussaud's, LaBrea Tar Pits, general sight seeing, head to Santa Monica Pier, beach in area- dinner there

Sunday Day 8- head to Sequoia NP- 7.5 hours away(this is questionable), evening touring

Monday Day 9- Sequoia morning touring, head to Yosemite- 5+ hours away, evening touring

Tuesday Day 10- Yosemite touring all day

Wednesday Day 11- head for San Francisco- 4+ hours away, evening touring

Thursday Day 12- San Francisco touring all day

Friday Day 13- fly home

Any thoughts or opinions are needed, I want this to be a great trip, and these are the things we want to see. The only things I can't change are the fly in and fly out days of the week. Thanks so much for any help!!! :thumbsup2

Nice highlights of California.

My only comment would be about Sequoia NP. It is a lovely NP and fantastic to see the Big Trees there.
But if your intention is to see sequoia trees, they can be found at Yosemite NP at Mariposa Grove (south entrance).

That would give you more time to spend at Yosemite and/or San Francisco.

I agree with Oz. The plan looked OK up until you got to the part about doing all that mountain driving with very little time left to tour the National Parks. I would definitely drop one of the two parks to make time for the other. And the park I'd drop is Sequoia, to leave time for Yosemite.

Also, just 1 day for SF seems like a crime. You'll find yourself terribly rushed there, too.

Thanks to you both for your feedback. Looking through the guidebooks, I definitely see that I can find the sequoia trees at Yosemite in the Mariposa grove. That leaves me a little more time for SF also!!! Gotta tweak the itinerary again. :thumbsup2

Hey, how are ya??? We will be going in 2014, we are just in initial planning stages. We did an Alaskan cruise on Norwegian last summer, with Seattle for the week after. It was a great trip!!
:thumbsup2

Is Sequoia worth it if you've been to Yosemite? It's been a long time, but I've seen the sequoias there, and been to Muir Park. Just never done Sequoia. But... it'll be dd15's first trip. Thoughts?
