We are considering trying out Disneyland in October. How are prices in California compared to Florida? I´m thinking about meals, shopping and such.

Also, if anyone knows of any affordable villas, please let me know.

Thanks everyone!

I think food and merchandice prices are pretty comparable between DL and WDW. I'm sure a chesseburger and fries meal at the DL Village Haus and the one at WDW are probably fairly close in price. The only thing that might make the price different is if one has to pay more for the ingredients than the other, but as far as most suppliers, they charge the same price regardless. Sodas and bottled water were the same price in WDW as they are in DL. I did see that gas was a lot (and I mean a lot) cheaper in Florida.

I have never been to Florida, but during our recent trip, the prices for hotels did make a difference depending on where you wanted to stay with and also if you had some type of discount. I would suggest calling around, and if you have Disney credit card or such to mention what type of price you can get with that.
As for the food prices, I couldn't believe the prices and also the lines at some of these places. We had gone to IHOP for breakfast and had lunch within the theme park. Boy was I glad I only had one meal there cause I had to stand in line for 30 minutes or more just to get our lunch.
If you are planning on shopping within the park, I would try to get your items towards the ending or rent a locker. The prices were a bit expensive since they were Disney items, but you can't leave without a souvenior or two just for yourself right.

<font color=navy>You can get pretty reasonable accommodations that include a fridge & microwave.

I recommend trying the following:

Best Western Raffles - has microwave/fridge, continental breakfast included - suites at an affordable price

Residence Inn by Marriott - has kitchenettes with fridge, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, dishes, etc., plus they serve a full breakfast, and something for dinner during the week. - you might want to factor in the meals here -- there are two of them - one on Harbor, and one on Clementine (has its own shuttle to the park)

Best Western Park Place Inn offers continental breakfast, and you can walk to the park

I also found these available condos & am including the links:

More condo hotels: http://www.myresortnetwork.com/rentals-state.asp?State=California which includes the following: Fairfield Anaheim @ Dolphin Cove

2 bedroom condo sleeps 5 - Newport Beach area

Apartments by the week near Disneyland

I live pretty close to Disneyland, so I haven't used any of these, but I hope this helps some.

I would suggest Park Inn or Tropicana Inn on Harbor Blvd. Less than a 5 min. walk to the main gates of both parks. The motels are near McD's and Denny's as well as IHOP. The Millie's restaurant is good as well as Mimi's which is near Howard Johnson. The price of food at DL is comparable to WDW. It is much easier and faster to eat at DCA. Taste Pilots is good - we enjoy the Pacific Wharf Cafe...it's the same clam chowder as in San Francisco and without a long wait! If you want a nice dinner, Storyteller's Cafe in Grand Californian is very good. My DD loves the spaghetti and the buffet is very nice!
