My wife just informed me that she, my daughters and grand children all (9 of us) want to be at the California Grille for dinner on 12/24 or 12/25 (as does everybody else at DW!). And to add to the problem, they want to be there to view the fireworks! Should I just slit my wrists or is there any way of pulling this off? I told her there was no way but she said,"You can do it Dear!". There goes my restful vacation!!

You might be wanting to dial the ressie line, like yesterday! If they tell you no availability, try again over and over. Sometimes people make more than one ressie and then decide later which one they want to keep and cancel the other one. If you are lucky, you will hit it just right.

Good luck!

Shake up your Magic 8 Ball until it says "Don't count on it"

If they're full, it's going to take lots of calling and hoping for cancellations. With a party that large, the chances are less.

And you should be aware of the credit card guarantee. If you get the reservation, and you don't show up for it, you'll be charged a fee per person. Right now I don't remember how much the fee is.

You might try at the cancellation deadline. I think it's 48 hours. Anyone who doesn't cancel by then would end up getting charged a fee, so there might be last-minute cancellations.

Give HER the phone number.

:thumbsup2

Yep, that's the way to go. Having that many people for those nights at that restaurant is next to impossible. Do your best but your wife and kids and grandkids might just have to be disappointed. I wouldn't stress over it, though. You can't move mountains and get blood out of a stone.

Maybe you shouldn't give her the # just have her sitting with you when you attempt to make the reservation. My DH has developed a much greater appreciation for the amount of planning it takes for our trips now that I make sure he is around when I call for ADRs and other reservations.
I will tell you that I have been lucky when I have gone to guest relations to check on possible cancellations while at WDW. So you may still have a chance even after you arrive. Good Luck . You will need it. Have fun no matter what.

Just as a point of reference I tried to get a table for 9 in late January, a relatively slow time and it was not available. Also, if you are a group of 9 you have to contact Disney group dining. I honestly think it would be a true Christmas miracle if you could even get a table of any size. You might want to try a table of 4 and 5 too very early or very late.

She wants to do this for Christmas 2008, right? Christmas 2007 would be nothing short of a miracle!

Yea, you could hope that's what was meant, but I'm pretty sure they mean about 24 days from now :scared1: If by some silly chance it is for 2008, then sure, no problem just call 180 days out :D.. Of course I have a feeling you're still meaning 24 days :scared:

I guess I better ask Santa! Missing a chance to eat at the CG won't effect the pleasure of our trip in any way. But you do know I have to do what the Boss says! Thank heaven for SPEED DIAL.

"Mission Impossible" is about right, but good luck. If you happen to succeed, I hope you have the DDE card. That check could break the bank. ;)
