I posted this in my live-ish trip report but thought I would also start a separate thread as there have been quite a few people asking about it.

We stayed at BLT and I can tell you from what we saw the CG refurb is not a minor indoor rehab, there is some serious work going on up there! They have a goods lift going up the outside of the building and scaffolding up all-around the restaurant.

Whilst dining at YS we saw Walter who has waited on us at CG a couple of times and stopped to speak to him. He said that they were aiming for a September re-opening however this was now not likely should be this year though.

My advice anyone hoping to go before mid-October have a back up reservation made :thumbsup2

Thanks for the update Tracy. As of earlier this week, they were still not accepting reservations for late October.

Believe there is extensive work being done to the roof, replacing of all the windows etc. It looks quite smart though the new look for it inside.

Thanks for this. We were hoping to go before we leave on oct 6th, but luckily made a backup ADR after taking some advice.

Cm I spoke to earlier through dinning said it would be at least the end of September.
Now I know we don't always trust what they say but given that she too had been past recently and mentioned how extensive the works looked.

There is a section on AllEarsNet regarding special things going on this summer. Below is what it says about dining:

"Disney Dining – Coming by summer’s end: a re-imagined California Grill crowning Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Guests will experience a beautiful new dining room, onstage kitchen and new dining choices – chef Brian Piasecki will keep the focus on creative, fresh, seasonal dishes and top-of-the-line sushi. At Epcot, what says summer better than ice cream? In France, L’Artisan des Glaces, an artisan ice cream and sorbet shop, debuts in mid-June with 16 yummy flavors, all made in-house with fresh ingredients (with the option of adding a shot of liquor on top, for grown-up tastes). Guests to France also will find Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie, with delightful French sweets and savories, and Monsieur Paul for upscale dining that pays homage to celebrated chef Paul Bocuse."

What's the policy regarding the reopening of reservations ?
Do they set an opening date and take reservations in the weeks before, or do they open the reservations on the day the restaurants reopens ?

(hoping for CG late october, early november, keeping fingers crossed)

I would guess once they finally set a re-opening date they will start taking ADRs :)
