California Grill & Wishes

11/1 is almost always the last night, IIRC

Good to know. I thought for sure that Halloween night would be and I insisted to my husband that even though it's normally Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday (is that right?) there wouldn't be one on 11/1 because Halloween is on Wednesday. Think I'll wait a little while before I tell him he was right. ;)

I almost hate to post because I don't want to be given the knucklehead award, but I want to give a newbie a heads up. I've been to CG twice. The first time with my family and we were seated in the Wine Room. The second time I was solo and sat in the main room. Neither time was I alerted to the fact that Wishes was getting ready to start and that there was a balcony or observation area or whatever it is from which to watch.

The first time since we were in the Wine Room we never did learn about the viewing. The second time I was waiting for my waiter or some signal. Is there some signal? Does the waiter normally mention it? Does "everyone" but me know where to go? (When I was seated he asked me if I had been before and because I said yes maybe he thought I knew about the balcony.)

Bottom line . . . if you're going to go to the CG for Wishes make sure you know how it works. (I still don't :sad1: )

Thanks! I'll make not to myself to make sure we ask when we get there to check-in. And/or ask our server too.

Not sure if it well help, but here's our Cali Grill Wishes experience...

We went in August...had a 7:50adr with Wishes at 10. I was really hoping for an 8:30p, but considering it took a while to be seated, I think our time was actually ideal. Dessert was being served right as Wishes was starting. We were not seated right up against the windows, but we could see the castle from our table and had a wonderful view once the lights dimmed. We didn't see anyone inside head out to the deck, but the deck was packed...guessing with people who dined earlier in the evening. You're sort of viewing the show from the side, so it's really not the best vantage point, but it's still very cool. We also had hours of rain earlier in the day, yet there were no condensation issues with the windows :goodvibes

We were one row off from the windows, but I talked to the woman sitting in table diagonally behind us and they too had a great view. Here's a pic to give you an idea of our view...I think it's pretty decent for not being right on top of the windows...

Thank you so much for posting that picture! Looks like a great view even being one row back.

We love CG but I wouldn't make it my one and only Wishes viewing. The best way to view it is on Main St. where everyone is so entranced and loving the show. Also you are viewing the show from the right side and not straight on.

I'd also like to worn you that if Wishes goes off at 10 PM and you've been iup early and inn the park all day, there is a chance a family member will doze off.

Good idea! I was hoping someone would read my post and tell how it works. The second time I went I eventually realized that the restaurant had thinned out, but I still don't know how everyone else knew it was time or how to get to the balcony.
