:confused3 Ok I did it anyway because I am dying to go here- never ever have and am excited. We booked an early one since we'll have the kids. But I wanted to make sure they always ask for a credit card? None of the others I did needed that.

Yes, they asked me for one. They explained it was in case we were no-shows. Then they charge $20 per person if you didn't cancel.

Yes, they do...They won't chare your account unless you don't show for your reservation. The only other one I know that does that is CRT.:goodvibes

We went last year and they asked.
They explained that any of the signature dining will ask for a credit card. This is to prevent people for booking and not showing up or cancelling the
My personal opinion it probably should be done a little more. I know so many people who have made reservations or double book resturants since they are sure where they are going to be and then don't call and cancel.
It is getting harder and harder to get into places if you don't book months in advance.

Narcoosees doesn't ask for a credit card. Nor does Yachtsman. Not sure about the others.

I think it depends on the CM and the day you call. ;)

I've only had to give a credit card to hold a reservation at California Grill one time, and that was two years ago. The last two reservations I've made since that time no one has asked me for a CC.

The only restaurant that I know will ask for one every time you make a reservation is Victoria and Albert's.

We've eaten at Jiko, Artist Point, Flying Fish, Narcoosee's, and Bistro Paris - none of them required a credit card to hold the reservation.

they also asked for my cc# when making ressies at california grill. they only charge if you no-show. i made ressies for other signature dining restaurants and california grill was the only one that needed a cc# for ressies.

From my experience, the only ones that have ever asked me for my CC info (and they've done it every time) have been V&As, CRT & CG (and any special meal/dining package - ie Fantasmic dinner pkg), but I haven't done Ashkerhous in yrs (so though I know I've read about many others needing to give the CC# for that one, I left it off my list since no personal experience).

When we ate there 2 years ago, they did ask for my CC# for the CG. This year, we are going in June, the only time my CC# was needed was for the "lunch w/an imagineer" in the Brown Derby at MGM.

Personally, I think they should do this at all sit down restaurants. It would slow waay down these folks that double book or just no show. I have been going to Disney for 15 years now and never double booked nor just not shown. (we have always cancelled if we weren't going to be there)

have a great Disney trip...:)

I was able to get an ADR for the California Grill the last night of our trip and I didn't follow through with it. I have given CC guarantee's with no problem..we are booked at CRT and HDDR and I gave CC's for both...I do not think I gave one at Brown Derby. The reason I didn't follow through was the CC was not just a guarantee for a no show...YOU HAD TO CANCEL 48 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR ADR I am responsible and have no problem cancelling an ADR I can not use but when you are traveling with 3 kids (10, 7 and 6) who knows what could come up..48 hours prior was a little extreme to me..;)

We dine at CG every trip and for several years now they've asked for a cc#. Not true for the other signature restaurants. As someone said, you'll be told so much per person will be charged for no show (I thought it was $25).

We went in October and when I booked it I had to give my CC. After we got there we wanted to cancel it but it was 24 hours beforehand and they said they would charge us $20/person if we cancelled. So we sucked it up and went. The CM said we had to cancel within 48 hours to not be charged.

It's going to be our first night there and I figure we'll be good to go for a nice meal. Usually near the end we are all a little tired and room service sounds good enough. :rotfl2: Now I feel better knowing this was a given. I am actually very excited to try it.
With 4 children we usually are very character meal centered. But not this trip. With the "holiday surcharge" that basically is running all summer we are protesting by not doing any of them. *and will probably spend about the same for much nicer food I hope.
We are also hitting Spoodles and Flying Fish.

The same thing happened to us when I tried to cancel Akershus a full 24 hours before. They said at that point I would be charged the fee anyway. Therefore, I decided against cancelling figuring if I was going to be charged anyway I would keep my options open in case our plans changed again. We did not wind up using it and I was charged. But if they would have let me cancel without penalty, someone else would have had a chance at that ADR.
