California Grill Question

Hi, this might be a silly question, but I need to know! lol

I was just able to get a ressie for the California Grill (never been there before, I'm excited!!!) at what I thought was a great time since we hope to be at either Epcot or MK till closing (Sept 24 - 9:00 pm) that day - the ressie is at 9:50 pm. Then, after I made a ressie, I was like, "How will we get back to the grand floridian?!" I believe what I have read is that the monorail stays open (officially) two hours after park closing - so it would be possibly closing at 11:00 pm that night (I don't want to count on a dinner that late being over by then). So, will we be stuck at the contemporary? I would really like to be able to use disney transp. and not have to do a taxi or something. Does the resort line monorail tend to go any past that two hour window? Or am I completely wrong? Any help/advice would be appreciated! :goodvibes

That is a great question and I can only speak from personal experience.

When my friend and I ate a late dinner at CG we finished up at 11:30. We wandered down to the monorail and were told we were not able to board. Now the MK had closed at 10 that night, so the monorail SHOULD have been running until 12. Try as we might we could not get the monorail CM to let us through even when a monorail STOPPED at the platform, opened its doors and then continued on!

He explained that to get to the Polynesian we must take a bus from CR to DTD and then a bus to Poly from DTD :scared1:

We couldn't believe it. Seriously? Its just 2 monorail stops away.

What we ended up doing was walking to the MK, where buses were running and asking a driver if they would take us to our resort. Thankfully they did.

Beware. It seems that "two hours" is a blurry guideline in itself.

UGH!!! That sounds awful! EEK, I'm really starting to rethink this reservation now...

If the monorail is not running you can always take a cab. Should not be that much going to the GF (I am guessing less than $8). To me it is worth it.

We always take a cab after these late dinners; it's worth the $$ for the convenience of not standing/waiting at all.
