Sort of anxious to be trying California Grill for 1st time end of month.

DH & DS aren't exactly adventurous eaters; hopefully they won't starve; at least the beef filet will satisfy them.

Have seen the menu on all ears, confused as to what is included on DP there. Know that appet; entree; dessert & drink are offered on DP but;
i see that there are categories listed for:

flatbreads,
sushi &
starters

are you limited to the chosing an item from the starter item or can we order sushi or flatbread instead?

Also, any recommendations?

Some of the sushi (such as Yoshi's platter) is considered an entree, but other than that, you could order sushi or flatbread instead of an appetizer.

When we were there in early May of this year, you could order anything off the flatbreads, sushi, or first course menus except two sushi items: Snake in the Grass and Yoshie's Deluxe Sushi Platter.

I got the pulled pork flatbread and it was outstanding.

We used DDP on xmas day this year and had a tremendous meal. We are not sshi folks so that made no difference for us. Four adults and one teenage boy(16) and we all had appetizers(16 year-old had the cheese board sampler-very good) most had flat breads. Our total was over $500 which was about half of the total cost of DDP for 5 people-5 nights...it was the best meal we have ever had and we visit WDW at least once a year and often twice. Having DDP surely was worth it for this trip. They are very accomodating for any special requests and there were alot of younger kids there when we were there and they all seemed very happy.

good to hear, thanks to all who responded:thumbsup2

I was considering the pull pork flatbread, glad to hear it was good.

Read that the beef tenderloin is exceptional & usually on the menu, excited to finally eat here (don't think we've ever come close before to a $500 tab with or without wine lol).

This is such a good thread- we had the same question. Looking forward to eating here now in a little over a week. We will most definitely order sushi!

If I am on the dining plan and my friend is not, I can still order with my 2TS credits, and my friend can just order her regular stuff right?

Sorry, not answering your questions, but have a related question to add to this thread....

On the DDP and ordering an appetizer, entree and dessert - it sounds like alot of food, but from the pictures of food I've seen posted from the CA Grill, it looks like more presentation/quality over quantity.

Have people shared their meals at CA Grill, or is it actually just the right amount of food to have your own app, entree, dessert?

Correct.

Many WDW restaurants have been moving towards more reasonable (read: smaller) portions. We've eaten at California Grill several times, and I don't feel that sharing appetizers or entrees would have worked out for us.

:woohoo: for you:banana: ; 19 days for us!

Please post & let us know what you ordered and your review!

Exactly what I was going to say, except I couldn't remember the 2 sushi items. I don't eat sushi, but DBF got the Yellowfin Tuna Two Ways both times we dined at the CG on our last trip and he has talked about it every single day since we got back (so I'm guessing it was really good)!

I think you will enjoy CG. I will let you know that we were there last Sept and used the DDP for the meal (2 points per person) and they charged our credit card at the hotel for the meal....we stayed at AKL...and then a few days later, the charge came off. I spoke to the hotel and she says that happens a lot. We were fine with the charge, since it came off, but I often wondered if people did not have avalb. credit on their card or some other issue, if that would cause problems? We had the full 6 credits for CS on the dining card and there were 3 of us...and it was our last meal at the park...anyway, not sure if anyone finds this information helpful, but I hope so.

Have a wonderful holiday!
