Hi everyone! DH, DS (age 2.5), both sets of grandparents, and I are going to Disneyworld in late September. Basically, we're a party of 7, and everyone has really different tastes in food (except my mom and I-we'll try pretty much anything once). I'm having a difficult time with ADRs, but basically, I've decided that we're eating out once per day. (We will be staying at a timeshare with a kitchen, so I'm planning on eating most meals in-mostly because my mother and DH's father are cheap, and they'll complain and be uncomfortable if they have to eat out all of the time
)
So, onto my question.
DH and I want to treat everyone to one really special disney restaurant meal out (not Victoria & Albert's nice, but still nice) Here's the trouble-DH, my father, and DH's father are all meat and potatoes guys. DH is not so bad. I've actually gotten him to eat sushi (saba, unagi, octopus, and even sea urchin), so he's expanding his culinary palate. But, my dad is a big ol baby about new foods. He'll try them, but he won't like them.
My father-in-law likes to cook, so he'll try different things, but most of what he tries are different Paula Dean recipes-not anything too out of the ordinary. Soy sauce is experimental to him. My mother-in-law does not like seafood, and the smell of seafood restaurants makes her ill. So, no seafood restuarants.
So, I tried to enlist DH's help in choosing restaurant. I pulled up all the menus, and he looked at them in earnest. He ruled out Fulton's and Narcoosees (b/c of the seafood). He ruled out any buffets b/c we're already eating at a character buffet, and DH does not like buffets. He also ruled out Bistro de Paris, although I have no idea why. He briefly considered Cali Grill, Les Chefs de France, and Jiko before exclaiming, "I don't know!! You pick." Uggghhh....I know what this is. He doesn't want to be responsible for the dinner selection in the event that no one likes it. So, please help me out Disers....
I was thinking Cali Grill. The ambiance is nice, they aren't seafood focused, and they have meat on the menu. What do you think?
Oh, and our son is very well behaved (hopefully, this will remain the case-he is at the unpredictable age). He sits nicely, eats, and does not pitch fits, make loud noises, or run around the table. In any case, I do NOT tolerate ill manners in a restaurant (or anywhere for that matter) and if he gets cranky, I have no problem taking him straight out of the restaurant and asking for mine to go. We're also looking at an early dinner time (like 5pm) so that he isn't totally tuckered out or starving by the time we get there. I don't tolerate ill manners, but I try not to cause them either.
