California Grill for Wishes? What time??

Hi there

If wishes is at 9pm what time should we make our resies for?

We have 3 celebrations while here, my sons 10th b-day, my b-day and our 19th anniversary. Would it help getting a table by the window if we mentioned these? This is our last viewing of the "works" before leaving Disney and just want to make sure we get a view and its a special ending to a special vacation.

What do you all think I should do?

I would try for 7:45 to 8:00 p.m. You can ask for window but they say they don't pre-assign so ask again at check-in. If you want something special done for your celebrations make sure you ask for it. We dined there last Sept. for my mom's bday and even though I told them when I reserved and when we checked in, nothing special was done-I was very disappointed. As far as the window seating goes (yes we did get it) the night we were there the windows were completely covered in condensation. We had to go outside on the deck anyway and the view from there was awesome.

The food was good, the server was okay, the view was great! Have a great time!

I know that you can request a table by the window before hand, but in my past experience they wouldn't guarantee it, and we had to actually re-request it once we arrived at the restaurant. It doesn't matter that much anyway, as when we were there last they were no longer dimming the lights inside/piping in the music like they used to. We had to go out to the balcony to really get the whole "Wishes" experience. Maybe they've changed it in the last year. I miss not being able to get the entire experience inside at my table. Hopefully someone who has dined there recently can help you!

ohhh no, no piped in music...with the lights up that must really mess up the fireworks

Now i wonder if i should make the resie for earlier and plan on viewing it outside? I would rather do that i think then fighting to see it thru bad lighting.

Can you "hear" wishes outside or is it just visual?

My experience with CG and Wishes last year was the following. I think Wishes was at 10pm, so we made our ADR for 8 and planned on being there about 2 hours for dinner. If you do appetizer, entree, and dessert and enjoy yourself, it will easily take you around two hours. This way, once we were finished with dessert and taking care of the check, it was time for Wishes. We stepped out on the balcony and could hear the music, etc.........it was really neat, kind of like getting your own semi-private viewing! I would probably try to head out 5 or 10 minutes before Wishes if you can, just because in my experience the balcony can get crowded. We requested a window seat when we got there last year and did get one. We may have had to wait a few minutes for it, though. I can't really recall. Hope you have a wonderful time!

DH and I just dined there last week with Wishes at 9:00. We requested a window seat when we got there and were given one. We noticed many other people requesting as well and some had to wait 15 minutes, but got the window seat. Here is my review from the boards:

This was the best meal of the week and definitely worth the 2 TS credits!! We had a 7:20 reservation with Wishes scheduled to go off at 9:00. This was PERFECT timing. We were finishing our dessert at our window-seat table just as the lights dimmed, the fireworks started and the music was piped in. Such a great experience, we'll definitely go again. Now for the meal....we each had the lobster/artichoke salad which was excellent - chunks of lobster. Then we each had the beef filet w/potato gratin and sugar snap peas. This was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were amazing. DH had the apple tart and I had the chocolate caramel molten cake. The desserts were excellent, especially the apple tart!
