We are going in a group with 7 kids . Some of the adults want to go to California Grill because of the great food but I am not sure if 7 children ages 6 and younger would be welcome there. Any thoughts?
Welcome, yes. But...can they handle it? In my experience, most kids who aren't in school yet can not sit through a meal at most restaurants, let alone one at a nicer one that will last generally in the 1.5-2 hours range. Chances are that at least one parent will have to remove at least one kid during dinner--doesn't sound too relaxing to me.
I've got several sets of neices and nephews, and have taken one set there. They were 8, 5, and 1 at the time. We didn't make it through dinner and I was out on the fireworks viewing area with the youngest so my sister could enjoy her meal The five year old had more than enough by the time dessert came, we couldn't have pushed it more than another minute or two with him. The 8 year old was fine, but she's one of those very, very rare children who would be OK at V&A's.
Bottom line, if I had to do it again, I think I'd pass. It was just too stressful on the adults trying to keep the kids entertained so they wouldn't bother others. Dinner at the Kona Cafe and 1900 PF was much more relaxed.
Totally depends on the kids. Are they used to eating in nice (slower) restaurants? Can they be counted on to last through the meal and not bother the other diners being too loud or get in the way of servers, etc?
My dd can handle any restaurant. She hasn't been "taken out" of a restaurant since she was 1--2 years old. We travel a lot and eat out frequently so she is used to it. Think about the children in your party, and ask the parents if they are used to it. (the kids, not the parents, lol) They should know if their kids can handle it or not. If they haven't ever done it before, maybe having 7 at a time at CG isn't the place to learn. (mob mentality and all, lol) Good luck.
How many adults are going? Maybe you could split up, some adults take the kids to Chef Mickey's...then of course the ones who get to do California Grill could reciprocate another night!
