Hello =]
We got a reservation for the California grill at 9:50 on August... 26th? (I think)
We really wanted to get a good view of the fireworks.

Any tips on how to get a good table?

Just have to ask, and hope that those that had such a table hours earlier still aren't sitting there, nursing an iced tea and waiting for the fireworks.
But even if you don't get a window table, the view from the outside observation deck is just fine.

We've done dinner at CG several times around the time of fireworks. It's really hit or miss when requesting a table with a castle view. Keep in mind many guests will be looking for the same thing.

You may be at a disadvantage with a 9:20 reservation. Many veterans looking for a castle window table will book 1 to 1.5 hours before Wishes which is scheduled for 10 PM on 8/26.

Remember you are required to check in (on the second floor) on the day of your reservation to make the window table request. The best tip is get there as early as possible.

Of course as mentioned, you can always watch from the observation deck which is just as nice.

Good luck and enjoy your trip.

And as I suggested, some that had reservations at 6:30 or 7:00 might still be in their seats. We saw exactly such a couple a few trips ago. They had a window table and were just sitting there with drinks when we got there at 8:00. They were still there at 10:00 when the fireworks started.

Do you mean check in anytime that day or check in right before your reservation? :confused3

You check in for your meal reservation when you arrive for your meal. There is a private elevator that is the only access to CG and you have to check in there to access the elevator.

Why not just walk out onto the deck to see them? That's what pretty much everyone does every time I've been at CG. Very few people watch from their seats.

Can you hear the music for the fireworks in california grill or out on the observation deck?

You can hear the music both in the restaurant (they also dim the lights) and they play the music out on the observation deck. I very much prefer watching it out on the deck with the stars in the sky above you and gives you a better sense of how high up you are. Enjoy!
