We went during fireworks and had a window seat and had that problem. I see I misremembered earlier that we saw fireworks from inside but went out to take photos and see the view. The entire time during the fireworks a family actively encouraged their children to push on our table and hang on our chairs. We felt so uncomfortable trying to eat and watch. The kids even took glitter off our table which was put there because we had a noted celebration. I understand kids what to see but hanging on someone else's chairs and trying to move their table to get to the glass is completely out of line.

This sort of thing happens all too frequently at WDW restaurants.

Misbehaving kids and unconcerned parents are a fact of life at WDW restaurants--some meals you get lucky and at some you don't!!

Actually at restaurants their only choice was stay in their chairs the entire time.
If their table was not a window view, then they should have taken them outside.

Now that I'm a little older (and perhaps don't care if parents yell) I did sternly tell a little kid no when we were having a bowling party with food and stuff but not a private room at a local bowling alley. The parents told their kids they could come to our lane and take from our chicken fingers and lemonade. I sternly said no go back to your own lane and if your mommy has a problem tell her to come see me of course he went back crying that he wasn't allowed to have any. I was aghast that the mom told her son to steal and then console him when he got caught and was told to buzz off.

As you should be. I'm aghast just reading. But the sad part is this is not unusual. What you did was absolutely correct.

Depending on the time of year and his particular feeling at the time, my husband has worn dark jeans and dress shirt with casual jacket (corduroy or velvet); khaki pants and cotton dress shirt; or a suit but no tie. Never shorts, a polo, or sneaker type of shoes.

But he's a bit of stickler for dress codes. Years ago, he had a fedora on with his suit while we walked to Flying Fish. As he held the door for me, the hostess told him take off his hat. He was seething the entire meal. He was insulted that it was assumed he did not know to remove his hat indoors and that after that interaction we were seated next to a table with a man wearing a karate gi top with Adidas track pants. He still gets all worked up about the hat rule enforcement without the gi enforcement.

I wore nice jeans and a more casual collared shirt when we went but I honestly didn't notice a single thing anyone else was wearing. I really never understood letting what someone else was wearing dictate the enjoyment of my meal.

And as Rusty well knows, Disney Cast Members (that is, a restaurant manager) will RARELY if ever attempt to admonish a guest (that is, a family with misbehaving children) who are just "having fun"--even if that fun is at your or my expense.

From birth they could use quiet table voices and stay in their seats OR sit on the curb outside. Only takes a few curb sittings for them to figure it out. And oldest is multi-disabled ... no excuses, cause and effect. We had those stretches where Mickey D's was the extent of our dining out, but hey, there's no vacation from parenting. And it's do or die with please & thank you.

I mean, my 14 month old does really well in restaurants (and in general), but he doesn't quite have the concept of "quiet table voice" just yet. He's fine most of the time, but he isn't perfect yet, and sometimes gets a bit loud, particularly when he's really excited. We only go to family-friendly places though! I wouldn't take him to a signature restaurant for a couple of years at least.

Yes from birth. No they didn't always behave, but they learned if they didn't - they were going outside away from the dining party. If they got louder than table voices, I took them outside. Yes, I had an "infant" (maybe 6 mos) sitting outside in NYC. He got louder than conversation voices, so I picked him up and took him outside. He had no right to disrupt the other diners, I had to be consistent, and yes, I had a few meals leave in doggie bags.

Three kids and they all learned after only a few times outside that they didn't want to be outside away from everyone. As I said when we might have been in a terrible two stage where they wouldn't stay in their seats, fast food only. By time my kids were 3-4 they could eat anywhere, always sitting in their seats, talking with indoor voices and enjoying a good meal. Never had to worry about them since.

Had a wonderful dinner at the California Grill last night. The dress was very casual. I did not see anyone wearing a sport coat. Lots of T-Shirts and jeans. Men in shorts and flip-flops. Could have been a Golden Corral except for the fantastic views, fabulous food (tuna 3 ways sushi and oak fired filet of beef for example), excellent wait staff and lovely decor. Love the place - going back for brunch on Sunday.
