California Grill comments....dress code

Has anyone ever seen someone being turned for wearing leggings? Obviously not the kind that you can see through at all, but we have a reservation tonight and I have on a long sleeve Minnie Mouse tee and leggings and Nike shoes. Would I need to make time to go back to the hotel, or should I be fine since it doesn't say this attire is prohibited?

I hope they do enforce the dress code :) I mean from what you said the people were dressed well but still a rule is a rule...

I really do not mind jeans or even shorts the thing that bothers me the most is tank tops!!!! I hate them ANYWHERE but especially a nice restaurant I hope they enforce the dress code :thumbsup2
Totally agree. I hate tank tops anywhere...and they are most definitely not for a signature restaurant.
My fiancé was most upset when they loosened the dress code as he always likes to dress nicely for a signature.
I'll be wearing my wedding dress to V&A but before we got a booking there thanks to a wait list cancellation our pick was going to be California Grill and the lady on the podium assured me they get many brides and wedding parties there. So it is a setting and ambiance thing where you get the clash of people dressed appropriately and those taking the most loose interpretation of the very lax dress code...

Why would he be upset? Nobody's saying he can't dress up.

A wedding dress is a little beyond "appropriate" (some would call it "attention seeking") & if you're looking for everyone to be dressed in a way befitting your special occasion, I suggest booking something out for the evening.

Have a nice trip!

It's not attention seeking...it's called we are having a wedding with 3 guests so that meal is our wedding reception...

All my fiancé expects is something like a quality polo shirt and chinos for men with proper shoes (no athletic shoes)

To you, it's a wedding reception. To everyone else, it's a somewhat nice dinner at a theme park restaurant.

Of all attire-related complaints, what's on someone's feet (which are hidden under a table) would be the least of my concerns.

Just my 2 cents - for people with feet, knee, back or hip problems, sometimes walking in anything other than athletic shoes, is out of the question.

Well--footwear isn't even mentioned in the dress code, so unless they decide to add something, you'll continue to see all sorts of footwear.

And I eat at Signature restaurants exclusively and from all I've seen over the last # of years, the dress "code" IS largely enforced--that is to say, the only part that CAN be enforced, which is the rather short list of items "not permitted" in the dining room.

When I made a reservation, over the phone, last week for California Grill; they mentioned no flip flops. I am usually in my high heal Roxys or Rocket Dogs so I made particular note of this rule.

I think your fiancé should pay more attention to his bride and less to the other diners' attire.

Leggings...thats a tough one. I'd be inclined to think its not allowed. But honestly, who knows? Maybe im wrong. Perhaps someone else can chime in....

Leggings are not pants. Unless your "tee" qualifies as a dress, I'd expect to be turned away.
