California Grill and question about children's DDP

Our local paper's travel section was devoted to Disney this weekend. One of the Dos and Don't articles highly recommended the DDP but also mentioned that is could be "quirky." On the the quirks it mentioned was that 2TS credits could be used for adult dinners at the California Grill but that children's meals had to be OOP. Is this really the case? Is this only for 2007 (we are going in 2008)? :confused3 No one mentioned this to us when we made our reservations. It's not a big deal but it would be nice to know before hand so we can make adjustments as it will of course affect how we plan our other meals.

Never heard this one. As far as I know, adult TS credits must be used for adults everywhere. And Ca. Grill does have a child's menu.

Maybe they were trying to state that they don't think a children's menu meal is worth 2 TS credits and were advocating buying the child's meal OOP.

No, it isn't true, but I think I've seen that bit of misinformation on another travel site somewhere, so it is possible that they used the same writer or even a reprint of the same article.

I haven't found non-Disney specific travel resources to be very accurate at all in their explanations of Disney programs, especially fastpass, EMH and DDP. I've learned to stick to the DIS site and forums, Allears, UG and TGM for Disney info, in that order. :)

That is wrong. So much wrong information is out there. You can use your DDP for your children ar CG.

Thanks for sharing the article

I knew exactly what article you were speaking of before I even opened your thread! I posted about this a few months ago, so here is the link:

I emailed this writer (I use the term loosely), and she basically blamed the Disney rep for misinformation. I took her to task on the misinformation, incorrect resort categories, etc., and she then said she really didn't care as all that was important was that she and her family had a good time at WDW. She is a terrible writer - I wanted to email the editor so that they wouldn't publish this article again, but I figured it would do no good as she also blamed her editor in one of her response emails to me as she said that he chopped up her article, and only gave her so much space, so it didn't turn out the way she liked.

The most ridiculous part of the entire article is that she calls Port Orleans Riverside - The River Site. She is from Montreal, and so is the official Disney rep whom she spoke with, so I guess there was an English language issue there. She admitted that she didn't do any research - she only used her own personal experience, as well as the info that this rep gave to her (she said she contacted Disney, and they put her in touch with the Montreal Rep).

As an English teacher, and lover of Disney, this article makes me so angry - it's too bad that it's being published in so many newspapers as well, as it stinks!

I'm thinking not an English problem - Montreal is pretty bilingual despite the hype. And my french speaking family would laugh at that one. Just bad writing.

You really think so? I can totally see how 'Riverside', sounds like 'River Site'. If the rep was talking fast, she could have easily confused the name, don't you think?

Regardless, I definitely told her that a quick trip to Disney's website would have been an asset for writing this article, but she then blamed the rep, and told me that any errors in the article were his fault. Whatever.

Bad writing all around, Tiger
